Thanks Brian for the great review and thoughts. I am a mini LED fan as well and ok with a small bit of blooming for my main tv. I have all panel tech type of tv's - LG C2 with some banding, Sony XBR LCD with DSE, TCL mini LED edge lit and the last Panasonic plasma limited brightness, heat monster and insane power use. All tvs come with some flaws and benefits, but right now for me in 85" and larger I still prefer mini led, choose your poison 😊. Waiting for the release of the TCL QM8....
Have you found out if the other sizes is great in the x93L unlike last year with the x95k last year since it was only good in 85 inches cause im interested in x93L 75
Some people have managed to get the new firmware for the 2023 sets like the 93L and the 95L to load into their X95k sets and so far they claim it works fine and nothings broke. I'm sure it's a risk to try it as you could brick your TV if it doesn't load properly but it's out there. The X95k and the Z9K use pretty much the same firmware update and I'm pretty sure the logic built into each set checks to make sure whatever you load in is compatible then only uses the parts that apply to the set it's upgrading, otherwise it will refuse to run it and probably put up a error message. I have a Z9K and I'll wait and see what happens, I'm happy with it as is and don't want a 7k brick but if Sony does decide to upgrade it seeing how it's technically also current for 2023 fine, if not fine. Don't go bricking your TV unless you're absolutely certain it's safe to do unless you like to live dangerously 😱
@@69Dartman this is a perfect example of why ALL TV manufacturers need to have their sets go to market as "DUAL BIOS" systems where a customer can optionally revert back over to the original firmware (hard-coded into ROM) just by doing a reset sequence. This is 2023 now and it's time manufacturers started doing this. That way if there ever IS any type of problem or bug with a firmware update that gets pushed out (or if the customer just simply doesn't like the update for some reason) the customer always has the option of easily reverting back over to the original firmware. Customers need to start DEMANDING this feature be included on ALL future models!
Brian when you say you sit very close to 85inch... how close do you sit? What is your preferred viewing distance for 85inch and 77inch respectively? Thanks
I’m considering upgrading to Sony from an old LG LED 55 inch. I’m not sure if I should get a 75 inch x90l for a 65 inch x93l. I do have a bright living room, especially in the summer, but not sure if going bigger is better or getting that miniLED more important? I am also wondering if the lack of XR clear on the X93l going to be a big difference? My family does stream a lot, mainly 1080p and some RUclips. What are your insights?
Hey Brian, Excellent video and cant wait to see what Sony A95L offers when it becomes available. Just a quick question is there a fps counter under Sony's game bar?
I was really surprised at the fact that you don't get a backlit remote with a premium TV such as this. I wonder can you use one of the older backlit Sony remotes with this model?
The xr x93l remote is back-lit on the costco set. It also offers 4 additional years of warranty. The costco model is Sony xr x93cl or 95cl and at the regular price.
I would like to see this TV next to the Hisense u8k do you think you can make it happen boss? It’s kind of hard because this TV here you guys have it 85 inch it’s huge you should do it in the same size that you had previously done the u8k versus U8k that way the camera can fit both TVs and not be too zoomed in. I would love to see the difference. Specially, on filmmaker mode I’m torn I’m not sure which one to buy. U8k obviously it’s more affordable and I can get a better deal on a 75 inch. Or I sacrifice 10 inches and go to the Sony X 93l 65 for the same price… the only reason I would be considering Sony is because they have more of like a 3-D effect processing image. It upscales very nice, and everything looks like better from the foreground and I really care about quality and find this and detail. Yes, I know the Sony might have a bit more blooming because the high sense does a very good job as it has substantially way more local dimming zones, but still. If the 93l is not that bad what would you do this with? I’ve seen the X 90 L unfortunately a little too much blooming for my liking so I’m curious to know how much better than 93L is in terms of even block or deeper blacks and more blooming ? control.
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY Thanks for the response i find similar numbers . I am 12 feet away so i am thinking to go with the 85" or 75' you think I should go for the 85" if i can afford it ?
Whether I watch this on an OLED or an LED, I can't help seeing quite a bulge of blooming on the right next to the yellow at 14:00. At least on my devices. And as mentioned, it just uncontrollable around the crown. So, some scenes can look quite good and then some demonstrate blooming that's difficult for me to ignore. Makes me wonder if the X95L, with only 12.5% more zones can possibly clean this up.
The X95L arrives Thursday and the A80L is Tuesday. I can't confirm that there is more dimming zones in the X93L than last years X95K. Sony doesn't disclose their Zone count and relies more on the local dimming algorithm.
Value or Brian, what stand holds that massive 85 inch Sony TV with the legs being over 18 inches wide? Hi Brian is the g3 worth buying for 1500 dollars compared to a 1200 s90c, am I loosing a significant difference in color with the lg and is it worth the extra money?
I personally haven't seen the S90 in person yet. The S95C goes toe to toe with the G3. I. In My humble opinion the G3 is worth it . Personally I'd just grab the s95c
I noticed he said he would like to see live color more poppy, I have a alternative for that, switch SDR to BT2020 down where you can switch color space, makes SDR way more colorful, it’s not natural tho, if that’s what people wanna go for DCI is more poppy and stays natural, but bt2020 will make it colorful array, Samsung use to use BT2020 for there native color setting years ago, but have switched to DCI now, but I use bt2020 for all SDR content, I don’t care about natural accuracy so works great for me
@@walidhannaoui1802 yes for HDR, I mean SDR, when your just playing or watching regular content switched manually to BT2020 looks so much better, not natural but who cares these days lol I like my stuff fantasy colored anyway
@@Codeman113I’ve been experimenting with the same thing, for SDR sports on an LG B8 I’ve been using what I think is DCI (moving color gamut setting from auto to extended, I think wide is bt2020). I feel like more people should try this.
Great video Brian. What does it for me is only 2 HDMI 2.1 ports yet again from Sony and blooming. I just can't get by that especially for the money you spend on these TV's. But it is what it is and people will be very happy with this tv. Much love to you and the family my brother.
I'd definitely go with the new panel. At 85 the X95k was amazing but not so much at the smaller sizes. The X95L is excellent at every size. Hope this helps
Brian, I've the Game Bar since installing the latest firmware on my 85X95K, not the officially available ones but still those all models in one package found unlisted. Also there is no "Motion+" when using Motion Blur Reduction, not frame interpolation like on Samsung. It's just Black Frame Insertion working at the regular 120hz, no 60hz on my model unfortunately so you'll get Image Duplication on 60 and 30 fps games. I can't speak for the 93L but not doing 60hz BFI on a 60hz stream is pretty stupid and many gamers will wonder why the image looks double when panning the camera in aa 60fps game.
Hello, how is the 85X95K? I currently have the 85X90L but since the 85X95K is now on sale I’m considering giving it a try. I know it doesn’t have XR Clear, but the mini led, and xtra dimming zones sounds appealing. I’m hoping that the 95k is brighter, while maintaining the colors and clarity of the x90l. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Are any of the new Sony leds a big improvement over the X950H from 2020? I have that tv but I feel like for the most part newer TVs look the same with real content? And X95K has more blooming even though it’s miniled. Let me know what you think

I hope you dont mind an off topic question but i figured asking on your most recent video would give me the best chance for an answer. Im currently in need of purchasing a new tv. What in your opinion is the best 85 inch tv i can get for around a $4000 budget? I realize this limits me to a non oled tv . However im not a fan of blooming or flashlighting either. That being said i just want a good all around 85 inch tv. Im not a gamer so this isnt a concern of mine. I also have an extensive home audio system so internal speakers are of no concern. I also use apple tv and a roku ultra so operating system isnt a concern. In a perfect world i wish i could just get a high quality monitor but it is what it is. 😊 Im asking you because out of all the tv reviewers on you tube, your opinion i trust the most! Thank you for your time.
Ty Ty as always for the vid Brian. Hey had to laugh, "ok guys we're just gonna breeze through this stuff, I know a lot of you like this".....But fk ya we're speeding through it regardless lolol.
Brian I hope your next tv is a mini led to give the mini led fans voice almost every you tube channel its all about oled , and I am a oled guy I am sensitive to even the slightest blooming , I have the Panasonic LZ2000 and the A95k , and plan on buying the New Panasonic MLA MZ2000.
Since the X95L will be dimmer in it's algorithm to suppress blooming, at least taken from some early reviews out of China. It's dimmer than X95K. So it won't be any Z9K "in 4K". Z9K is super bright, that it's the whole deal with the Z series.
It doesn't have XR Clear image, nor more dimming zones. It's a rebadge of X95K with software tweaks like the game bar. That's it. Other than the Game bar there are no new features. Sony themselves has basically said it's just a renamed X95K. It's a bit of scam TV because they are now charging more for a TV that already exist in the form of X95K. Why buy the X93L 85" when it cost more than 85" X95K. For the "game bar"? Who'd pay extra for that? Could be hundreds and up to a thousand dollars more. They are doing this to clear out stock of X95K.
Agree……and to add that the relaunched x95k(x93l) having its software updated with these game bar features is proof that the the rest of Sony’s ‘ 22 mid to high/upper lineup can also benefit from the same implementation. But we all know that isn’t happening.
Im looking to upgrade to this Sony model in 65". Would it be worth it to upgrade from my current tv, the TCL 65R635?? Its their 3rd gen (?) Mini-LED w 128 zones of local dimming. The Sony 65X93L has 420 zones. Im assuming the Sony will have a brighter and more accurate picture quality and color volume
Hey Brian, Nice video! So the A95L models (65/75 in Europe) and A93L models will all behave the same🤞👍. Do the European models have more dimming zones than the A93L and a different panel?
So basically, if you can't afford the 85", you'll get a sub-par TV with just as much blooming as a low-end TV. Edit: I was wrong, it should be the same performance across all sizes.
Brian, isn't it true that the x93l is nothing more than an x95k with a gaming and Eco bar? The actual improvement comes with the x95l. Clear image prossesing, more dimming zones, overall better picture quality, but only available in an 85 inch size in the US. Sony disappoints and has made a mistake if they think we're that stupid and not offended by these decisions.
Sony owns the upscaling business. Not even high end Samsung’s do it as good. Most content people watch is 720p and 1080p. That’s why you should buy a Sony.
I didn't have any issues buying from them, plus having my set shipped from east to west coast. Robert was easy to deal with over email only, though I could have called him if needed.
I wanted to tell you that I watch your videos all the time and I think you should have more reviewers and more subscribers but on the outside looking in I wanted it to tell you why I think you don't I think you need to either upgrade your camera when you videoing these TVs because your picture quality be looking washed out and ashy when people watch your video they will to see it look clear and clarity if you watch other people video they have a better camera they videos look more thrilling and drawing to them if you upgrade your camera are sharpen it up and make it pop you will get a lot of more subscribers keep up the good work
Thank you for the feedback. Thank you for watching. It's not actually the camera ( though you can always get better gear) . I try to show the tv's as they are. I can deepen this led, for instance, but lose the brightness or alter them in editing like the others. I'm in store filming in a very bright room. Then in the dark I can adjust so it's not washed out then hiding the blooming which isn't real either. Thanks again for the feedback and for watching.
Sorry Brian i love u and sony, but after watching your review of the X95k last year i almost made the mistake of buying the x95k 85" and so glad i didnt after hearing about the blooming issues. Bought the C2 83" instead and thank god i did! Sorry robert but these year to year updates are not even close to as different as you make them out to be. If you have a 7+ year old TV, thats a different story. But year to year there is almost no difference. FYI, according to Sony corporate all 3 sizes of the X95k have the same picture quality and same blooming issues (or non issues).
No need for Sorry. Your misinformed about the quality of the 85" X95K as it was excellent. I'm referring to the 85" X95K which no other youtuber or publication actually covered at the time. Your feelings with Sony are yours and also shared by many. Incremental upgrades are very common in our industry. C1 vs C2 vs C3. I'm glad your happy with your TV my friend
Thanks Brian! I probably would have been very happy with an X95K as well. The X95K at 85" was my other option but I just couldn’t get past the blooming. I really do love that Sony are still working hard trying to make a great mini-LED. I love the Sony magic sauce, and I actually have a relative who is able to get me a discount but they are still expensive even with the Sony Discount and it’s so hard to justify the extra cost. Don’t get me wrong, I believe Sony is and has always been the best and puts out an amazing product!
Brian, you know I love you to death. Heck I love you more then my wife, take my wife please lol. The X95k had blooming issues, even FOMO and B the installer noted it, so did Classy and Classy is classy AF. Boooming is not everything, but it does bother me a lot. I believe some one called it “Bloom City” lol on the live chat. Oh I love this community, now I understand why you would want to pick up a new X93L, heck I’m thinking about picking one up as well. Sports on this TV will be unbelievable. It will look practically 3-D if not better this is the type of game changers I’m talking about.
Correct me if I'm wrong but X95k from last does not have 85'' version. The X93l is not a re badging but a better version of the X95K, the UI is much better. Sony is stepping in the right direction, they abandoned CES and doing their own shit. Sony must invite content creator just like you to a premiere instead of going to CES.
In the US the X95K did have and 85" which I reviewed on the channel last year. The X93 is the successor and the X95L is now it's own thing. Thank you for watching
For me two hdmi 2.1 ports is a deal breaker for me. That’s why I have only gone with LG for my last three OLED TV’s or even considered Samsung as an alternative.

They are more similar this year than last year however I haven't personally seen them.
Would these gaming features be included in an update for 2022 Sony TV's? I have an A80K but not sure how Sony is in terms of updating older models
Unfortunately not my friend
Can it be done?….yes, the X93L is basically last year’s X95K and has the gaming features “bar” added to its operating system. Will it be done?….nope.
All the 2023 hi end TV's look amazing
Thanks Brian.. rock solid as always!!

I didn't see one my friend. I'll double check when we check out the X95L this week. Thank you for watching
I was really surprised at the fact that you don't get a backlit remote with a premium TV such as this. I wonder can you use one of the older backlit Sony remotes with this model?
Most likely it will be on the a95L only because it's a Master Series. Yes you can buy one from Sony if you like. Thank you for watching
The xr x93l remote is back-lit on the costco set. It also offers 4 additional years of warranty. The costco model is
Sony xr x93cl or 95cl and at the regular price.
Does it have Quick Media Switching (QMS)?
Seems to be very responsive as recognizing what's attached to it's inputs. I'll definitely look more into it on the x95L
Will it be similar to my Sony X930E? :)
No. It will destroy the 930e. That tv was great for an edge lit tv but it can’t compete with a true fald set with over 800 zones.
@@jogo8261 Well, when it comes to contrast and HDR peak brightness, the Sony X930E is better than many tvs nowadays.
@@Tomek_Zyla I agree
I’ve seen the X 90 L unfortunately a little too much blooming for my liking so I’m curious to know how much better than 93L is in terms of even block or deeper blacks and more blooming ?
control.
Not a fair comparison. The X90L is much closer to the U8K. The X93 blows it away.
Brian in your opinion what is the ideal distance to sit from the tv this size?
Thanks!
From 85" I'd say between 7 to 11ft
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY Thanks for the response i find similar numbers .

@@MichaelLubeck-o4g it’s really that much better?
I didn’t know that the ambient light sensor can be activated even in HDR. This wasn’t possible on old school Sony TVs like the zd9…
Did you buy the X93L? I have a Sony-XBR-75Z9D and there's a guy selling a X93L 85 for $1500!
Let's hope so my friend. The camera definitely made it worse.
It's just a rebadged X95k but if it's cheaper and still just as good as before it's a win for consumers.
It’s Sony, no way it’ll be cheaper 😂
i would assume same price with x95 costing like a z series
Is the x95L review still coming? Also did we confirm that there are more dimming zones on the x93L compared to the x95k
The X95L arrives Thursday and the A80L is Tuesday. I can't confirm that there is more dimming zones in the X93L than last years X95K. Sony doesn't disclose their Zone count and relies more on the local dimming algorithm.
Would have enjoyed seeing the soundbar set up height.
I'll set up the X95L that way for you Victor

Thank you my friend!!
I noticed he said he would like to see live color more poppy, I have a alternative for that, switch SDR to BT2020 down where you can switch color space, makes SDR way more colorful, it’s not natural tho, if that’s what people wanna go for DCI is more poppy and stays natural, but bt2020 will make it colorful array, Samsung use to use BT2020 for there native color setting years ago, but have switched to DCI now, but I use bt2020 for all SDR content, I don’t care about natural accuracy so works great for me
The tv switches on its own based on the content. Horizon was in HDR10 so it was most likely mastered in DCI in a rec2020 “container”

Since the X95L will be dimmer in it's algorithm to suppress blooming, at least taken from some early reviews out of China. It's dimmer than X95K. So it won't be any Z9K "in 4K". Z9K is super bright, that it's the whole deal with the Z series.
We'll see
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY It would be cool if it was. I just don't think Sony would let that happen if they already have their flagship.
@@loki76we can hope! I'm personally grabbing the QN95C at 85😁
It doesn't have XR Clear image, nor more dimming zones.
Hey Brian,
Nice video!
So the A95L models (65/75 in Europe) and A93L models will all behave the same🤞👍.
Do the European models have more dimming zones than the A93L and a different panel?
They should be x93 and x95 my friend. The A95L is the oled. I believe the European X93L is the same. Thank you for watching
So basically, if you can't afford the 85", you'll get a sub-par TV with just as much blooming as a low-end TV.
Edit: I was wrong, it should be the same performance across all sizes.
Didn't say that. I said that was the situation last year with the X95K. This year all sizes of the X93 should have similar performance
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY I stand corrected. Attention isn't my strongest suit.

Yep..the Kings of overpriced TVs is back..but the video is on point as always
Local dimming need high and Motion black frame off

Why
I didn't have any issues buying from them, plus having my set shipped from east to west coast. Robert was easy to deal with over email only, though I could have called him if needed.
literally x95k but cheaper. which is good
It’s actually $1000 more than the X 95K
Thanks again for the feedback and for watching.
back? with what? last years TV with a new model number? The X93L is the X95K from last year with one letter changed.
