Wendel's low on sleep and forgot to clean up the end of the video lol
The struggle IS real
That's how you know the video queue is loaded, no content drought for Level 1!
I have had issues getting it to work on my USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports, which says to me that the UVC drivers aren't entirely working properly.
Asmedia controller? I had that too but did ok on newer Intel chipset h370 .. i have trouble with the USB 4k capture device too
@@Level1Techs Good luck getting high-speed 3.0 out of anything but a Intel controller. I have a nvme 3.1 enclosure, and my TR system gets half the speed my $500 Intel laptop dose.
Noctua for life! Just got the FC1 for my 140mm IPPC 3000RPM, its a god send!
Nice! i also like the intro/outro music
Thanks Wendell. I been looking at capture cards for Linux all day
3 Wendel's in one screen how much can we handle?
on the USB A to A cable... i wish the other 4K-ish USB 3.0 capture devices used the larger A port on the device side just like this. it is done like this for durability. I had two different Type C ports and one micro B port fail on the device side of two devices before I gave up and got a PCIe device. HDMI cables and shielded USB cables are HEAVY
They really should just use a type b port.
On your amazon link, it states "Up to 1080p @ 60 Hz via USB". So, yes, it is limited to capture at 1080p 60Hz
this seems like a great affordable option for 4k passthrough and 1080p60 game capture! does it pass through 4k60 signal? If so it's a good solution for streamers who want to play at 4k60 but capture at 1080p60
Ur a legend for the warframe script
I think a comparison to Blackmagic options as well as stuff like the Atomos products would be great!
Ah yes, I was thinking of the Decklink for some reason.
Will a splitter work on this to avoid HDCP ?
why does no one make a display port capture card
The capture technology might need to play catch up? I've not researched at all but putting my 'theory' here in case someone can add something based on facts
The majority of users of capture cards are either capturing game systems, camera feeds, or ripping Blu Ray's. Computers support capturing via software so there isn't a big market for it.
Looks kinda interesting. Not sure if I would pick up
What the name of the mini display?
I know the video is old but my question is about pengo can I record hdr because that's what I need.becuse I have a ps4. Thanks
From the product description...
"Video capture in FHD at 60fps"
6:02 editing lol
Did you ever compare the captured footage to your Magwell card?
I believe that was the side by side he did, they probably use the Magwell card for all their capture
Why is passthrough important in some cases and not in others? Like when playing on consoles seeing as they dont have display port?
What alternatives are there in terms of capture devices that work natively on Linux?
Would this be a good unit for using a DSLR camera (specifically a Canon 80D) for RUclips production?
I would get an independent unit that records to an SSD. Idk if the 80D does clean HDMI but my Sony A6300 does and going straight to even a lighter ProRes or DNxHR codec is amazing for color grading. I tend to want at least 10-Bit 4:2:2 but with a good LUT you can make 8-Bit look great.
@@nateo200 thanks for the input. The reason I'm thinking about this unit is I'd like to use my 80d as a "webcam" of sorts. So I can do "picture in picture" live streams and videos. My biggest obstacle is the high buy in price. This unit is right where my upper limit really is, so it would be perfect.
Gotta love the Atomos Inferno, mind if I ask what camera you're using?
Gh5 and loving it. Tho if you dont need ibis the super cheap g7 works great with the atomos.
I have spent a lot of time trying to learn better camera work techniques and telling a story. Life getting in the way somewhat, but still trying.
What keyboard + touchpad is that?
MrDevianceh looks like the Logitech k820
Level1Techs, can l buy this item from you? pls let me know.
Can it capture the digital AC-3 audio bitstream like the PVR 1212?
@Tyson O'Ham Yes.. but, can the Pengo 4K 'capture' the AC-3 bitstream via HDMI?
I wonder if the slip in capture is solely an issue with Linux.
Edit: Ah, so it is.
What's that little 4k display?
Review the Magwell?
But how does it compare with Blackmagicdesign's cards?
The Magewell and the Pengo
Black magic devices aren't uvc, and have to use their drivers.
Yes, but you can still compare them, and they support linux unlike many others.
it was working but that made my cpu 100 used cuz of a setting on that softwhere i got from tham streamlabs is not pullling it it seee it but not grabing
Why does nobody use the blackmagic capture cards ?
This! I love my Intensity Shuttle Thunderbolt and the other products I've used by them are always top notch or near it. They take a while to mature with software sometimes though.
These UVC devices don't need any drivers. BM requires nonfree drivers on Linux.
There is not enough bandwidth in USB3 for 4K30 4:2:0 uncompressed, let alone 4K60 4:4:4 so that should throw you off to start. The best you can really get is going to get though a 3.0 is 4K20 4:4:0, MAYBE 4K30 4:2:0, and you'd be luck to get that. I doubt anything other than an Intel controller will go that fast. We really need 3.1 gen2 to get 4K30 reliably.
What about USB 3.1 type c? Or does that also mean no 4k30 uncompressed?
@@BulletFever1 3.1 has two versions gen 1 and gen 2. Gen 1 is just 3.0 over type c, it's 5gbps. 3.1 gen 2 is 10Gbps, which could do 4K30.
But won't the information coming from the actual capture device be compressed anyway it's not like you're streaming at 5 gigabit or 10 gigabit per second
@@leexgx it can be, but most of these devices just use a webcam chipset that is uncompressed. You want uncompressed anyway because the quality is higher.
help us install it man yyyy the helll pleezzz make video on how to get streamlabbs to make a grabber to work asap
Wendell...did you just assume the USB's gender?
Engageme....I mean, demonetization!
Noot Noot
Oh crap

What subscription is you on? Ahh the free one? Yes well then the news is content... Feel free to enjoy or move on
Couple larger vids almost ready including one on instruction set archaeology . Ecc vs non ecc should drop this week also. It's been a bear to wrap those two up.
hmm nope. ill voice my displeasure if I feel like 😊
