I am also interested to know about kneeling chairs. Are they actually better than normal chairs? It seems many people have the same question. Thanks so much!!!!!
I know this is an old video but I've been having back issues and figure I need a more supportive office chair. I'm short and it's difficult to find a regular office chair to keep my legs at the right height. I also know that I really need to move more/walk, period. Thank you so much for this information. Love you guys!
this helped me so much. my computer chair is rated for 8 hours but my tail bone kept hurting after a hour. i even added a lumbar support and extra cushion to the seat. I also kept sliding forward when it leaned back. i also have pinched nerves in my back but then i seen this and wow. i had no idea that leaning back in my chair caused allot of those issue and i also had no idea there was a tensioner to stop it from doing that. I tightened that sucker up as tight as i could and it doesn't lean back any more. i also have a foot stool so im a bit more relaxed . not much pressure is on my legs. this helped allot thanx.
From my experience, right angle sitting is the absolute worst thing for my hips. Nothing is perfect, but having my legs slope downward creates the least hip pain and also puts the back in a more upright position. You just have to make sure the chair is not cutting off blood pressure, and that's easily done by using a well thought-out arrangement of cushions, like a smaller cushion under the gluts with a wedge cushion on top of that. Concerning the leaning chair, please see my comment to Jelly Bean below. I guess that sad truth is, our bodies aren't meant to be in one position for so long every day, but most of us are stuck with it.
@Krys T - With kneeling chairs, they're great if used correctly. You have to keep yourself from sliding forward and putting too much pressure on your knees, so I've found the best way is to put a cushion way up at the top end of the seat to make sort of a little ledge to sit on so that gravity doesn't keep pulling you down. Then your thighs can be at a comfortable slope and your back is upright, without your weight being on your knees. The biggest drawback with the knee chair, for me, is that they're very low to the ground, so I can't use it in my office. If you get one, be sure to get on with cushioning and a rather textured fabric, because you don't want a slippery one.
Great info. Can you do one for your vehicle? I have tendonopathy of my glute medius and riding in the car/truck results in a cramping pain that makes me have to stop get out and walk around. It’s the knees higher than the hips thing.
I'd love to hear your opinion on saddle stools. I'm at my jewelers bench a good part of the day and even though I have everything adjusted, I am now getting upper back/shoulder pain. The reviews are so mixed and there is no place near me I can do a test drive.
I went to a Chiropractor today for sciatic pain and he said the opposite of what you said at Timestamp 3:14. You want your knees lower than your hips so the legs aren’t pushing inward on the hips (which is what would occur if your knees are higher than your hips). Many cars today have seats that cause the knees to be at a higher level than the hips. The hip joints aren’t made to receive this kind of stress when sitting. Your body’s weight should be on your buttocks.
I have to disagree. I'm driving for a living right now. I can sit in my car for several hours at a time and no pain. If I sit "ergonomically" at my desk for 20 mins I'm in excruciating pain everywhere.
Do you have videos about backjoy or curble chair reviews? I think it will be very helpful for us to know if it is really helpful and effective preventing back pain 😖😖
You guys are great and fun! Looking for a Varidesk shown in your video. I clicked link you put didn’t believe and it’s a pro for 2 computers. Only need for one computer. Please put link below.
Wow this is so helpful. I really don't understand the dislikes. Oh no! Godz forbid you help people. Anyway, great video. I have an ask. I can't stand for more than 5 min. my scoliosis and disc degen won't allow it. Can you do something covering the 3 and the best way you do it i.e "sitting with scoliosis and disc degen if you can't stand or walk" Thank you boys. Keep up the great work. I have been following you for years and if it was not for some of the stretches you taught me, I would not be able to even walk to the bathroom. Soooooooo thank you for everything. Hugs.
Why have you not reviewed kneeling chairs? By design, they ensure continuation of correct posture and comfort by keeping your knees lower than your hips. I love mine.
I use and exercise ball sometimes for a chair. Much cheaper than one of these verichairs. I have found no conventional chair or lumbar support devices really work. The only thing that has helped is developing core muscles to better sit with good posture unsupported by extraineous devices.
Edward meza I would say make sure the ball, keyboard, and computer screen are at ideal height relative to each other so that shoulders aren’t scrunched and neck is not straining. It took a lot of adjustments to get mine just right, plus exercises to strengthen postural muscles, plus a chiropractor. Check out posturedirect.com for exercises.
@@edwardmeza3591 Like Bob & Brad teach on some of their videos, get the McKenzie book for whatever part of your body has pain. The exercises and stretches in the book really work. The books are thin, so read the whole thing, because there are a lot of tips. What Meredith said reflects what McKenzie's method is about: Systematically stretch and then strengthen the area.
My hips are prone to pain from right angle sitting, too, and for painting, I like to stand on a very good fatigue mat (I got it at Focal) with no shoes. I find that my hips don't get sore because I'm always moving around to step back and look at the painting, to put out more paint on the palette, or if using watercolor, to get clean water. But if I ever do want to sit in my studio, I find a knee chair is very nice. I keeps my hips from getting crunched up and keeps my back in a neutral posture. I put an extra cushion on top of the seat to keep from sliding down, though, so my knees aren't bearing my weight.
The suggestions are good overall, it's a bit disappointing you didn't use a ergonomic chair, not even the arm rests were adjustable for you to show a more correct usage...
What we really need is to design a backwards chair. There's nothing sacred about this toilet chair design. It's not meant for long hours at work. We need to normalize leaning forward not backward. The back of the chair should be in the front and give your chest and abs support while leaning forward into an interface for long hours
a gaming chair is just a gimmick it tried them and they are awful for your back and also have very little cusion in them. for the same price you could get a very nice computer chair. i paid 250 for mine and its rated for 8 hours of sitting.

Thanks Bob and Brad much needed to my neck pain as well despite me working out daily !

hi best therapists... what about muista chairs what can youu say about it
We will have to look into those, thanks for the suggestion!
Raising the chair height so the pressure is put on the thighs instead of the lower back really helps
doing that gives me pain in my legs tho
Can you guys talk about kneeling chairs?

Is a chair with a teardrop on the back and front not good for ergonomics?
Yes I need help with this
You basically just need to watch from minute 1 to minute 5.
I FUCKIN LOVE THAT AND YOUR INTRO
what about kneeling chair?
What do you guys think about recent scientific discovery that shows that 110-135 degree sitting is better for a spine than traditional 90 degree ?
What is this? Fred and Barney? :o)
