I think I've mentioned this before but I appreciate that you remove the entire tree from the road. So often I come across trees that are only removed enough for a side-by-side to fit past. If you going to do the job do it right 👍
Thanks, as long as I have to tools with me I always try to get the road fully opened. It is frustrating when someone only cuts a narrow path through. Years ago when I was on an off road trail in my jeep I tried to squeeze through a narrow path and tore the plastic fender clips out as I brushed up against one side. Had to take one of the fenders off for the trip home.
@@highdesertforester Thanks. It took several lessons of being unprepared for me to learn the right balance of stuff to bring. It’s a beautiful area that I always enjoy exploring when I can get time to go there.
Isn't it nice to be able to move your fire!! Haha. And wouldn't be a trip without a down tree! Or two! Thanks for the mention 😊 Love that tent, looks cozy 👌🏻

Yes it is a stunning area. I had family in Grants Pass and sometimes on visits in the 80s and 90s we’d take the long way home and see some sights or do a little camping in the eastern parts. Oregon has always felt like a second home to me.
Nice to see you went well prepared for the wind, you sure could see miles in that burn, quite the cave and views, nice to see the deer , that spot where they were was so beautiful, good job clearing road, interesting share👍
@@NatureInspiredSnipsnSnaps Thanks, I try to be prepared for what surprises may come. The deer were awesome to see I think saw at least 20 in that area.
Yes it has, clean up has been a slow process but it’s good to see everyone helping each other out and getting the work done. Also really appreciate our local and out of state power crews that have worked their butts off to get power restored.
Nice area, very beautiful! I really liked the mini splatter cone. I gotta get back down there next spring or summer. Those trees on the way out is what always worries me in the winter, getting out after camping. I would have had to chop off the branches and drive over the logs if they weren't too big. Nice filming in the cave, it looked huge!
@@dandog7653 Thanks, I usually never run across trees on the way out and here there were two on the same day🤷♂️. That cave is huge, I had originally planned on fully exploring it but forgot my really bright headlamp and was wanting to get to a campsite while I still had daylight so next year I’ll plan on revisiting it. That mini splatter cone is something I wish I had in the back yard, it would make an awesome fire pit.
True, but those trees are more flexible than say alders that like to snap in the cold when it’s windy. The first night I watched them for a while before setting up so that if a limb did break off the wind was blowing away from my tent. The second night I wasn’t too concerned since the wind wasn’t as bad.
That was quite an adventure traveling down here to Oregon Scott! You had a great setup for getting you through those cold nights out on the trail. 👍 Frontier looks like it’s fitting your needs well. I’ve overhauled our stable of vehicles too. Traded in our 2020 Cherokee TH for a 2024 Mazda CX5. Then traded in our 09 Beatle for some dough to buy our 06 4Runner for our new wheeler project.
@@ElectricDanielBoone Thanks. So far the frontier is doing pretty good. Definitely doing better on the mpg (averaging in the low 20s and the ford was in the mid teens). Glad I had the 350i for those trees, with the dewalt it would have taken quite a bit longer. I’m surprised to hear the Cherokee is gone, it was a very capable rig, be nice to see how you like the Mazda and 4Runner in comparison.
@ The “new” Cherokees have some serious reliability issues. Transmission went out on our 2017 TH before we got the 2020. 2020’s warranty was almost up, so I was getting nervous it’d go south too! I really liked our Cherokees, but needed a more reliable car for the wife and that’s where the Mazda comes in. No Cherokee, so no woods rig anymore and that’s where the 4Runner comes in. Pre 4Runner (only a month) I did take the Mazda up in the snowy woods a few times and it actually did amazingly well! Wife doesn’t appreciate me “wheeling” her nice new car though. 🤣
@ unfortunate about the reliability issues, new stuff is getting too complicated. Sometimes i think about getting an older truck but I hate to deal with the poor gas mileage. The wives always seem to get a little nervous when the new vehicle heads into the hills 🤣.
@ Tent stove is a Seek Outside large. It has a chimney for the smoke and the tent (Minipeak XL Pro) has a stove jack that is made to hold the chimney and protect the tent material from the heat. The tent also has a removable liner that covers nearly half the floor and I use a small tent foot print to cover part of the other half. Having a dirt floor for the tent can be a blessing and a curse. I don’t have to worry about burning a hole in the floor with the stove and I don’t have to worry about tracking in dirty shoes. But on the other hand it’s a dirt floor.
