- I'm sorry everyone.TL;DW I may have to make DOOR STUCK private because a copyright troll is making money off it and stole the rights. I will have to wait and see if my monetization appeal goes through.
UPDATE 7/31: It looks like "Bob Tik" has lost the rights, but I still need to get re-accepted back into the Partner program. Progress though!

Don't private the video, all that will happen is the re-uploads will take over in getting searched and begin to get all the views instead. while you have the original upload, you have the control. although privating for a few weeks might bring some good publicity and might be worth trying if youtube doesn't listen, permanently privating it is just as bad as deleting it and an equal lose case for you. the troll will only go on to claim other iterations and they will all get the views instead, and he'll still be getting the money anyway. the only way this stops is youtube stops him. the views will always come in with or without your video, so you should leave it up

People brought up a good point, I could at least take the video private to prevent the copyright troll from being effective. But honestly that is the last resort if my last appeal fails, it's essentially the same as deleting it. We'll just have to wait and see till end of August. In the meantime they can't make money off it at least.

Privating it instead of deleting it preserves the history on it. the comments, the views, the original upload date, all of it. If it gets to the unfortunate situation where you have to delete the video (I sincerely hope that it doesn't. this video is historical) please consider privating it instead to preserve the history and allow future chances of recovery

you could unlist it, it will just make the video disappear from the video list, just make sure there are no links leading to that unlisted video (like those links the description of fan-made [parody, animation, etc.] ones that lead to the original video, its just same as the video being privated, but instead it is not in teh video list.

Its crazy how they can literally let anyone just straight up say "I own this" and then they do. Same thing happened with The Fat Rat, who despite having over 41 million views on his one of his music videos, got it claimed by a complete stranger and still struggled to get his monetization back for a while because RUclips basically decided to say "Sorry it belongs to them now"
This problem is quite similar to the "Aw fuck I can't believe you've done this" video, except instead of copyright claims, RUclips manually took the video down for "Reused Content" and everyone got upset until they realized their mistake and fixed it.
Why is this happening to old content on youtube now?

Literally anybody can claim videos, which is stupid.

He put it in a song and then copyrighted that song like an asshole. I tried to bring awareness to this a long time ago when I realized it and people called me stupid and crazy.

This happned to a popular animator who made hazbin hotel and helluva boss, some channel named HazbinHotel-Topic tried to claim ownership of songs and caused a lot of drama. RUclips needs to wake up and take down these topic channels
