  • Three locations on the Llyn Peninsula's north coast. All stunning and very photogenic, as one would expect!
Yr Eifl: A group of three prominent peaks close to the historic industrial heritage village of Nant Gwrtheyrn, which is well worth a visit in itself. The peaks are 480m, 564m and 444m in the order we climbed them, with a total elevation gain of 732m on the route we took, not dissimilar to Snowdon from Pen-y-pass. This was all about the reveal shots and sweeping parallax shots! There's free parking in the large car park and we seemed to have the hills to ourselves most of the time. Mobile reception is great, thanks to the new EE 5G mast at the top of the quarry!
Trwyn Porth Dinllaen: A narrow promontory, mostly a golf course with National Trust beach & cliffs on the eastern side (no drone take off or landing there!) and a very modern lifeboat station. Seals were swimming and basking on the rocks off the northern tip. The bright red pub in the tiny village of Porthdinllaen, Ty Coch, is excellent but very popular, so arrive in plenty of time, because the queues stretch out of the door when food service starts.
Traeth Penllech: A gorgeous beach with free parking - virtually unheard of in North Wales! A short walk alongside the stream takes you to the beach. The stream tumbles down a series of waterfalls before it reaches the beach: these can't be seen easily from the path, but that's where the drone comes into its own. The beach is large and sandy and perfect for exploring the rock formations at either end. It was also very quiet, unlike many other beaches on the peninsula.
