As an American convert to Orthodoxy I can tell you that the avoidance of entertainment is excruciatingly difficult for many if not most because we have been so inundated with it and condition to engage in it as part of the American culture and society for the entirety of our lives going back several generations.
So if we fast on Fridays and can’t engage in entertainment on Saturdays there’s basically no room for entertainment on the weekends for Orthodox Christian’s if I’m understanding this correctly?

@@bewoproductions9097 Ya I get that, if there’s a benefit of abstaining from it that’s one thing but to regard it as a sin is entirely different. If it’s a sin then we should never do it, if it simply isn’t beneficial then you can do it from time to time as long as it’s not something you live for over God. That’s the way I see it at least. Especially for raising teenagers, prohibiting them from going out on the weekend entirely seems a bit extreme and only going to make them resent the Church.
@@cvrki7What's out there in the clubs and bars anyways? As someone who used to frequent them while I was younger, nothing but drunkenness and lust for me personally... Much better to stay within the walls of the Church during these days(Friday and Saturday) if the church is open that is... You cannot serve two masters. If you are out and partying how are you going to be deep in prayer and getting ready for communion on Sunday? Of course you aren't forced to drink or anything, but what's the point then? Lol. That's my 2 cents.

speak to your Priest/Spiritual Father about it
Everyone is different, but it is helpful.
I look at it like this:
If I pray, I receive more grace from God. It’s for benefits, and not a loss.
