- This video shows Diamondback, the new-for-2009 hyper coaster, manufactured by B&M, making some of its test runs before its grand opening in April. Special thanks to Josh Gardner for providing extra commentary. Recorded with a Sony HDR-HC1 and rendered in HDR and 60fps for a more vivid and smoother playback.

I’ve ridden diamondback many many times, and I must say even after 15 years, it is still running strong!
It's one of my faves. I doubt I have time to ride it this year but if I do make it to the park, I hope to ride it.
Takes me back to high school and checking updates on the KI website every day. Still probably the most excited I ever was for any Kings Island coaster. We finally had an airtime focused ride in a park that had barely any airtime in it lol.
Back car Vortex first drop was my fave in the park at the time. 😄
I was very excited to finally ride Diamondback. I had seen the layout about a year prior and couldn't believe it once I started to see land clearing. I think Diamondback is a coaster that Kings Island needed, while Orion is a coaster they wanted, but didn't really need, in my opinion. I love it but I think I have had more visits to Kings Island during it's first year than all the visits combined to Kings Island over the past years since Orion opened.
This was the first coaster I got very excited for when I was a teenager back then! I didn't get to ride it for the first time until 2017, but Diamondback was an early influence to me getting fully into roller coasters as a hobby!
I was so happy that there was going to be a B&M at the park. During the Paramount years, it was almost impossible to get B&M and Paramount to work on a larger project like Diamondback as Paramount had a very strict set of rules in regard to the timeline of concept to opening. B&M has their own window and don't rush projects, so it was never meant to be, until Cedar Fair took over.
Happy 15 Years Diamondback!!
What a wonderful time to be a KI thoosie. I turned 21 that year. Drove my college friends from out out of state to ride it opening day. Still wear the shirt.
I wasn't at the opening day for the coaster so I didn't get one of the "first rider" shirts. They were giving them out on media day but I decided not to pick on up as I had planned to be there on opening day as well. I remember seeing people wearing those shirts for many years.
I swear this guy has ridden every single coaster credit out there (except the defunct ones in like 1896-1945
Add Taylor and canobie coaster to that list....
Ha ha. Not quite. Maybe about a third of them. :)
I remember my first time ever riding it back in 2017.
I remember thinking how insane this was to me at the time. A coaster that size- at Kings Island.
It really was something to see when pulling up to the park. It's still my favorite coaster at Kings Island.
rip dododonpa 😭
Yes, really bummed. That was my favorite coaster on the planet.
I was only 6 years old in 2009
Best ride in the park and one of the best Hyper Coasters.
Diamondback is still one of my favorites in the park, next to Orion of course. By the way, I sent you another email on 2/28. :)
Found your e-mail again. Diamondback is my favorite in the park.
Do you mind people using your videos but with credit given?
Nope I don't mind at all. I just ask for a credit either on screen or in the description. Thanks for asking.
@@SeanFlaharty ok
You and Pecos Hank need to battle to see who is the most interesting person on the Internet.
Ha ha. Thanks. I think Hank is one of the most interesting people I watch, so I take that as a compliment. I recently had a friend ask me for permission to do a possible documentary on my life. While that concept is incredibly strange to me, considering how much of my life I have on RUclips already, I told him he could do whatever he wants. Just a strange thing to be asked.
@@SeanFlaharty nice that would be very cool. Yeah, you have done a bunch of interesting things over the years. Be cool too see, keep me updated.
