- This video contains the brief footage I recorded during the media preview day for Diamondback, the new-for-2009 speed coaster, manufactured by B&M. I spent most of the early morning and late afternoon riding this incredible coaster. By the time I left the park, I ended up with sixty-six rides on it. This video was released on the same date it was recorded on, fifteen years later. Special thanks to Brad Day for providing the extra commentary. Recorded with a Sony HDR-HC1. Rendered in 60fps and HDR for a more vivid and smoother playback.

No Banshee, no Mystic, no Orion. Vortex is still standing. What a time.
Homepark since 1989. Just took my daughter for the first time last year. She loved it. Going back in a few weeks.
I grew up in the Paramount years of Kings Island and went quite often . This was a monumental addition to the park. Cedar Fair turned this park from “who would go here when they could just go to Cedar Point” into a world class park that some people prefer over Cedar Point. Kings Island has always been a special place to me, and now under Cedar Fair, they are set up to be a fan favorite park for years to come.
Back when the park was run under Paramount, they wanted this ride but the company had a pretty strict from-concept-to-opening window of something like eighteen months. I was told that B&M refused to work in such a small window of time so they weren't able to create the ride for PKI.
@@SeanFlaharty that makes sense. As someone who works in the construction industry myself, I fully understand why B&M would refuse that. To do things safely, to the best and most reasonable quality, and to last a long time; takes more time and more money.
I remember my first time ever riding Diamondback was back in 2017 and present.
Excellent footage Sean. Once again. You were doing coaster videos before it was fashionable to do so. Before RUclips came into our lives. Sounds like Diamondback was worth the wait. Sixty six times? Fantastic. Have you ridden it all in the last ten years or so? I was wondering if it is still riding great. Thanks S~

Thanks, Rob! I have ridden Diamondback hundreds of times since 2009 and still think it's one of my all time favorite coasters. I don't visit the park more than one or two times a year now but getting on the coaster is a must if it has a shorter line.
Coming up in 8 days is Top Thrill 2 media day!
Wow. Feels like yesterday.
It really does, honestly.
Gosh, Diamondback is fifteen this year. Time flew.
I remember riding after it'd just opened in 2009, and marveling at it. It's still a fun ride, but the time flew by.
It certainly doesn't feel like 15 years. I ended up riding that thing 66 times the day this video was recorded and instantly knew it would be one of my favorites at the park. I still love to catch a ride or two when I visit.
People really try to say Cedar Fair didn’t give kings island an elite coaster……….
