I’ve honest had nothing but fantastic luck with Predator generators. I’m a fleet manager for a large concrete contractor and we have probably 20 of the non inverter predators bolted to trucks. Most of them have been mounted to their respective truck for 6 or 7 years and we’ve never had a single issue with any of them. We’re good about changing the oil on them 2 or 3 times a year, and with that they’ve been very reliable and quiet generators.

Been running this on the jobsite for 6 months. Just change the oil once a week. I can change the oil completely in just a few minutes. Never had a problem, just the start switch which was a few dollars on amazon, and 15 minutes to replace. Runs like a champ. I typically am an onan or honda guy.

Inside Track Member and used my 20% discount and got the 9500 for $1900. Just had a 30 amp inlet box with lockout switch at the panel installed. The 9500 runs our entire house without a hiccup. Best investment we’ve made.

We have used the ruclips.net/user/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

Great video! Just got the 9500 today and when weekend gets here I will start setting it up. Sorry that yours has issues with USB and 12 volt. Now you got me wondering how this one is going to work out. All other reviews and videos I’ve watched they seem to have good service with them. I will definitely give my review after setup. Thanks again for the video! You did a superb job on video and your explanation.

I said I was going to do a follow up on my last comment. Honestly I haven’t got to use it as far as powering the home as a backup mainly for furnace and a few lights. I do know it’s ready to go. Always starts good! easy operation, very, very quite! Which is a plus. I know in my mind it’s a great feeling to know Incase power goes out. We are ready. The 9500 generator is quite impressive, Harbor Freight did a great job packing. It was in excellent condition.

They are a very good generator. My girlfriend bought mine literally 5 years ago. Its a 8750 watt generator. Ive had a bunch of things over the years and few times fixed but nothing major. I replaced the carb once. The muffler was painted last year but blew a hole in it so i replaced it today. Or am about to. Nice new muffler came in from ebay and looks great.
All in all ive hammered this generator. Used it in Massachusetts in my field to power my hut in freezing temps running a 240 v shop heater on full blast for 10 hours each day. It eats gas about 5 gallons a day and a half or day. But not too bad without a constant heavy load i can get 2-3 days out of it.
I love it. But it is noisy and I’ve upgraded my garage, now and i run my landscape business and it powers my heater, powers my multi process titanium hf welder. My 60 gallon husky air compressor and works amazing.
Just looking to upgrade to the inverter for noise reduction.
I built a fancy generator box to store it in and looking to sound proof that as well.
    Great video though!

I have purchased new two of the 3500 Watt inverter generators. I have owned two of the 9500 Watt inverter generators and also two of the 5500 Watt inverter. All have worked flawlessly. I have zero need for a USB or DC output on these generators so I never use those features. I think the one out of three generators is good is a little high.

There's alot of people who buy predator generators/inverters that buy the extended 2 year warranty, use it for 2 years and drain the fluids and return it and actually get a newer (comparable) model and the employee's don't really ask questions other than if the oil and gas was drained and is it in the original box

Just like anything man made, it COULD have problems. As you don't often use 12v, I wouldn't return it. But, IF YOU THINK YOU COULD use 12v, get a new one, now. I hope the 2nd one works for you!!! Great review. I have a DuraStar dual fuel generator. Have had it 6 years, runs great. I run the house off it when the power goes out. I also run propane on it 90% of the time. Haven't had any winter issues with it, yet. Knock on wood. Thanks for your review!!! Till next one!!!

While it's an absolute pain, I'd return it. If it's already broken out of the box, maybe the parts that are working are held together by duct tape! Why wait until after the warranty for the 120V outlets to stop working too? It's a $2K+ generator. Too much money for that not to be working.

Great video. My experience is only based on co-workers experiences, but they haven’t been good with the 3500W and the 9500W. Both of them had issues out of the box and returned them. The 9500W version had a burning smell that ended up being a damaged wiring harness from poor assembly workmanship. The 3500 died after less then 100 hours with a constant overload issue. They were both under the 90 days and both got they’re money back.
I’m not sold on anything predator powered. I’ll stick with my Honda’s.

Every mfg has a few slip through with issues. I am opposite of you. I have had several hondas and other than really expensive, not a single one has stood up to time or as far as that goes predators. I do not have the 9500 but know many that do and have been running them non stop for over two years. Predator has an extended warranty that lets you bring it back beat to hell one year and 364 days after you buy and you get a brand new one to replace it for zero dollars. Lets see honda do that warranty. What I DO HAVE is the 5000 and 3500. three of each. all have been champs and zero issues. When I do see someone with a problem more than 80 percent of the time it was damaged because of owner stupidity, not the workmanship of the generator. You will find that predator and honda are the same assembly line in china and are almost identical in many areas. SO you go on and keep spending 6000 on a comparable generator and I will spend 1/4th and Be a happy boy. Harbor freight of a decade and more back is not the same place as it was. I have two 5000's in tandem and they run one of my houses perfectly and without a flaw. I do have a duromax 13000 for my main house and it too runs like a champ and I have over 1`400 hours on it.-, however it is not a inverter, it is however able to keep the electricity coming out of it at less than 5 percent distortion and your honda can not match that. THAT ONE WAS ON SALE FOR 690. The predators are all over 1500 hours and one 3500 is over 4200 hours. I had to replace a pull rope and two batteries in the last few years. Harbor freight gave me one as a replacement ,
As for my honda experiences, 5 machines, all over 5000 watts running power and not a single one made it to 800 hours run time... Not impressed at all.

I have the predator 3500 W inverter, owned it for about two years now, it runs really well. The power coming out is perfect. My only concern is it shakes a bit when it runs, doesn't vibrate like an electric razor, but it shakes, concerned about the electronics going to hell with all that shaking. Also had to replace the fuel valve, it didn't leak, but it bypassed it didn't totally shut the fuel off.

Ours is a everyday runner for a food truck. We've had it for only 1 week and I've noticed 2 problems: The most critical one is a CO buildup shutdown. Not sure why this happens because we have it in a slider cage to give it plenty of open air (3-4' from the truck wall) yet it'll still shutdown at the worst time. The second one is when it does shutdown, getting it restarted takes a lot of wait time. I feel like the choke floods the engine really fast or it's fuel metering system is still allowing fuel in right at shutdown. I have to wait a minimum of 15 minutes for the fuel to clear out before restarting. During that shutdown, we have to rely on our lil 3500 to run our AC and cash machine or the microwave (whichever has the priority need) and use our emergency lighting.
This is frustrating because we had to take the wheels/axle off to lift it and fit it in the cage. Returning it would be a real hassle for us right now. Anybody experiencing this?

It was on sale at a similar price you’ll find now, and the 3 year extended warranty cost me the same as the sale price discount (I took the discount and gave it back them to buy the warranty). I have a few hundred hours on it, and it’s been flawless for my needs. I have to admit, I never even tested the 12 volt output. I don’t need it.
I’ll buy chunks of metal (anvil, wrenches, etc.) from Harbor Freight without concern. But I usually buy some level of extended warranty with any electrical thing from HF. I’m not completely comfortable with their quality, and the extended warranty is hassle free at the store.

We had non-stop issues with our Predator 9500 -- I really can't warn against them enough. Brand new unit arrived with non-working electric starter, 240V output never worked (only one leg would come up irrespective of switch position), and the spark arrestor would "foul up" every 12 hours or so (known issue). My guess is the smaller Predators sell more widely and are better tested -- the 9500s are complete crapshoots.

You don't have a 2 year warranty, what Harbor freight sell you is a 2 year one time replacement contract, so if you are still within the 2 year contract drain all the fluids gas and oil take it back to Harbor Freight and they will give you another new generator to replace it. Now more about that 2 year one time replacement contract if you want to continue that contract on the replacement generator you have to purchase another 2 year one time replacement contract. Example if your generator which Harbor Freight only warranties for 90 days (RED FLAG) and it fails on day 95 they will replace the generator but they will have fulfilled that one time replacement contract if you want to continue it you have to buy another 2 year one time replacement contract on the replacement generator.
Again Harbor Freight is not selling you a warranty, they are selling you a one time replacement contract.

The first one I bought, I couldn’t get it to run. The yellow light was blinking on and off. I watched a video and found out. It was the oxygen sensor cut the wires and rerouted them to bypass the sensor. It worked great until I left it in the back of my truck and someone stole it a few years ago.. to day I bought a brand new one predator 9500 tomorrow I gas it up put the oil in there and see what happens if I have to return it🥵. 11/25/24

So I just bought the same generator today from HF…. But it was a refurb….. got it for $1500 because someone else had it and returned it because it wouldn’t start…. HF customer service believes that the customer put bad gas in it…… who knows… I’ve been watching it for like 3 months…I’m taking a chance and I have 5 days to decide if I’m going to keep it…. So I’m going to run this thing all day and tomorrow and the next day after that and I will make my decision from there…. And for those of you that think I’m crazy for doing this, I have a track record for buying discounted items at HF just because someone has returned it…. I own about 7 or 8 chainsaws from HF…. I buy them, clean them up and sometimes even replace the chain… and I’ve had zero problems…. I can’t tell you how many trees I’ve cut down with them….So this is why I’m taking a chance on this… I mean $1500….. that’s hard to beat but we will see……

Many new electronics require pure sine wave power if you use a modified sign wave it can shorten the life of the products and even cause them fail outright. Our refrigerator uses inverter technology makes it more energy efficient but it requires clean power, the same thing with modern TV's that use computer chips and many other products in your home. Will a non inverter generator power them? Yes but you are no doing those expensive products any favors.

I love Harbor freight for tools. They are cheap, and if they break or you loose them, you not out much. Last year I needed a new jump pack for the farm. Harbor freight had a sale on one so I took the chace and bought it. Worked the first time I used it, then never had power again. Unfortunately, I didn’t need to use it until after the 30 day warranty, so I was out the purchase price. I will still buy cheap tools there because I’ve never had a issue. But I will never buy anything with a motor or battery from them. It’s too much of a risk, knowing their reputation.

Unless you buy a Honda or Yamaha inverter generator, it is always going to be a roll of the dice as they are all made in China without much quality control. At least you can return it to Harbor Freight. I would cough up the $700 for the two year warranty. Still half the price of the 7000w (but much quieter) Honda.

Yamaha, honda, predator, they're all made in China nowadays.
The company decides on the materials and specifications, butt quality control levels at the manufacturing stage is going to depend on the manufacturing plant building it.
The term made in China can mean something, or it can mean nothing.

@@reubenj.cogburn8546 Wrong Yamaha manufactures all but one of their generators in Japan, the one they make in china is a smaller generator, but all the rest of Yamaha's inverter generator line up is made in Japan. Honda makes their generators in I think it is four different countries. Harbor Freight is China.
I own three Yamaha Inverter generators and all three are made in Japan. an EF3000iS, an EF4500iSE and a EF6300iSDE all three made in Japan.

Harbor freight gave me one as a replacement

Harbor Freight has no faith in their generators and they show it by only giving a 90 warranty on them. They will offer you a one time replacement contract which can be one year or two years, the current price in 2024 of the 2 year one time replacement contract is $749.99 plus tax. If you purchase the Predator 9500 at the current sales price of $1799.99 plus one time replacement contract $749.99 plus tax $165.73 you have spent $2715.73. You can buy a Yamaha EF6300iSDE for 2995 free shipping, no tax unless you live in California and the Yamaha EF6300iSDE comes with a 3 year warranty.
If you pay full price for the Predator $2299.99 plus one time replacement contract $749.99 plus tax $198.25 for a total of $3248.23, that is more than the quality Yamaha EF6300iSDE again that costs you $2995 free shipping no tax unless you live in California from National Supply.
Why would you buy a Predator with a 90 day warranty when you can buy a quality Yamaha generator with a 3 year warranty.

    ⚠️Portable Generator Safety Tips:
    1) KEEPING OTHERS SAFE: Please do not allow an unqualified person or your children to operate and service the portable generator. Just because some manuals don’t say that doesn’t mean it’s safe. That is important against the generator safety rules. We also need to be keeping an eye on our children too. You need to make sure that your children are not playing near the portable generator especially when it’s running so they won’t get electrocuted. Generators pose electrical risks and they can be hot during an operation. Please keep your children away from the portable generator at all times. It is important to keep our children safe especially our little ones. Be aware of all the hazards.
    2) WHERE TO RUN YOUR GENERATOR: Some people use their portable generators indoors which increases the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. It’s important to have carbon monoxide detectors if you have a gas generator. Never ever use your generator indoors even if your doors and windows are open and even in the garage is not safe to use a portable generator. Also please never use your generator in your deck or balcony. It is never safe to use your generator indoors and in enclosed areas of your home. Your generator needs to be 15-20 feet away from your house.
3)FIRE SAFETY: Never refuel your generator while it’s running. You need to let your generator cool off before refueling it and before storing your generator. Never overload your generator too. Never ever back feed your generator. You should never plug your generator into a wall outlet. Also never store propane tanks indoors. Please keep flammable things away from the generator as well and please don’t smoke cigarettes near the generator. Having a fire extinguisher next to the generator is also important against the generator safety rules. It’s also not safe to move your generator while it’s running.
    4) GENERATOR OPERATION: make sure your hands are dry before touching the generator. Never use your generator in wet conditions. Don’t let your generator get wet. You need a generator tent if you need to use your generator during wet weather. Please don’t wear loose clothes when operating the generator. Turn on your generator before plugging in appliances. Use the right cord for your generator. Please do not use worn out cords.
It is always important to follow the safety rules when using a portable generator.
Hope this helps. This is just a reminder to make sure generators are used carefully.
