I didn’t recognize Kate’s dad in that flashback for YEARS. And that totally makes sense because we’d only seen him in one scene previous to that episode. And he’s always wearing a helmet in that flashback
I like that they still have Jin's anger and control issues rising to the surface every once in a while. It would be unrealistic and honestly a little boring if each character solved their main flaw in season one, or something like that. Perfect characters are boring, flawed characters are interesting.
A lot of people complained about characters going backward in season 2 just to add content, that might be true a little bit for some but as you point out it makes it more realistic, they got issues that went for years you just can't fix them in a matter of 2 months.
That's because we are like that, as humans we aren't just good or bad. That is why we love these characters because in a way they are a reflection of what being human is about.
You're not alone; everybody has crazy theories about Lost the first time they watch it. And on a different note, I haven't seen Lost since it originally aired, and watching these reactions made me notice that the plot moves more slowly than modern TV shows. I think that may be because they were still using the old 22 episodes per season structure, so the writers just had to stretch the story out over more episodes.
Hey! Just because I thought back in 2005 that the Lost Island was on a gigantic spaceship, and that the "Others" were really Aliens experimenting on humans does NOT mean my theories were "crazy"! Nor was my gigantic Octopus theory crazy either. Nor is my theory that there will be a season 7 of LOST sometime in the near future. Now its time for my medication....which doesn't imply anything at all!
That slow pace is not only caused by the 20+ episode structure but also by the fact they had no clue yet when the show was going to end. Back then these kind of hit shows could go on forever until audience runs out. We can see clearly the pace goes up once they got the end date they wanted.
@@M4ke4l Yeah, I believe Lindelof has said on more than one occasion that they had a shorter story arc in mind, maybe 3 seasons, but ABC kept making them draw things out since it was such a hit show. Then after a 'certain S3 ep' they were able to negotiate with ABC back & forth, finally settling on 6 seasons.

Sometimes, when I expect reactors to recognize a character we have seen before, I can get disappointed when they don't recognize them. It's easy for me to forget I've seen this many times, so, of course I know who they are. It's also hard for me to remember if I actually recognized them the very first time I saw it. I guess it's a little unfair of me to expect people to recognize everybody in these situations. Now, him looking at the photo of Kate, should be the giveaway, even if we didn't recognize him right off the bat.
Kate being out of the loop regarding Henry is odd since she would have been one of those taking the button pushing shift. And once she was back in the Swan Stn, it wouldn't take her long to discover someone in the Armory. Unless Locke or Jack deliberately removed her from that responsibility. There was simply no point in keeping her in the dark about it unless Jack thought Kate would insist on Henry being released because of his alleged innocence. (presumed innocent until proven guilty maybe?)
I think it makes a lot of sense actually, Jack is pissed at Kate at that point because she went to go look for Michael by herself, She was also out of the loop in the army thing and in the long con so it's clear Jack still puts her out of the loop so this is a continuity of this. He could also think he protects her by not having a potential other close to her, that's a classic Jack mentality there too. I'm allowing myself to back up this point with a little SPOILER from episode 19 "SOS" (Lexi is ahead of this on Patreon so i guess it's fine to write that as long as i announce it): It's kind of underligned in their conversation after they manage to get out of the net.
@@M4ke4l Yea, Jack's passive-aggressive anger towards Kate is something I've always disliked about Jack and about the Show. But its all about elevating American style "drama" for drama's sake. So I find Kate being out of the loop objectively "odd", but consistent with Jack's petty behavior. It's almost like the writers can't make up their minds on whether there should be a Jack + Kate romance, or a Sawyer + Kate romance, or a three way. But whatever pulls in the viewers is the real name of the game. But perhaps Matthew Fox's real wife greatly appreciated his character's misbehavior towards Kate.
Same here, I often don't recognise people I've already seen once when I'm watching shows for the first time. Lots of compelling conversations going on in this episode, but I think Ana Lucia's apology to Sayid is ultimately my favourite. Loved your reaction ❤
Bookworm Sawyer's reading choice is quite unusual considering that he is reading, "Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret" by Judy Blume. A book that maybe Lexi might have read, but Sawyer? Its not exactly reading material for guys as their target readership. But Sawyer's reading options are obviously very limited.
Can't say much about Henry actor Michael Emerson right now. However I am currently enjoying the 4th and final (and so far best imo) season of "Evil" on Paramount+ and Emerson plays the most evil sag of shyte in that! 😅🤭🙈

I warmly recommend you the films "If These Walls Could talk" (with demi Moore and Cher) and "If These Walls could Talk 2" with Sharon Stone ! In "If These Walls Could Talk", you will see how it was for us in the 50's, when the abortion was forbidden, how awful it used to be ! Bonus : Those two films are EXCELLENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I don't fault Lexi for not recognizing a guy who was in once scene, or a faded photo of Kate that was only onscreen for a few seconds.

If you like Michael Emerson (Henry), another good show to watch is Person of Interest. He is one of the leads on that from episode one.

I think the vast majority of viewers don't necessarily pick up minor characters showing up again, at least on the first viewing.
