- Disney’s newest Star Wars series, “The Acolyte,” has received some of the worst fan ratings in the franchise’s history - 14% on Rotten Tomatoes!. But is it because of racism, as the show’s star, Amandla Stenberg, suggests? Or maybe, as media critic Gary Buechler of@nerdrotic believes, it’s because “The Acolyte” destroys Star Wars lore left and right. Gary joins Glenn to break it all down, from the “lesbian space witch” plot that somehow made Glenn defend midi-chlorians to how the show seems to prioritize DEI requirements above good storytelling: “Disney doesn't understand Star Wars fans … They hate the fans. Andor is surprisingly good and the Star Wars fans speak very highly of it. It just goes to show the fans don't just hate Disney Star Wars. They like well written and produced stories from the Star Wars universe.

Hello, Carl. I love a few good Disney+ contents more than "The Acolyte"--including my #1 "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series." More power to those who are done with D+ for good, but I'm not. I'm so hyped about "Descendants: The Rise of Red." I hope that movie would be as good as the first three. But you don't have to take my word for it.
I love that Gary is now showing up on shows like Beck. He has come a long way. He was just an ex-con, recovering addict (he talks about these on his shows and has a book coming out) and ex-comic store owner who wanted to talk about shows and movies he loved at the time, like Game of Thrones when it was still good, then the world went upside down and he (and others) had the guts to say what we were all thinking.

For me, Star Wars died in 2012 when Disney acquired the rights. I have the six films by Lucas and all the games, books and comics pre-Disney era...I'm good.

Even from an agnostic perspective, they have not make anything watchable in ages. It ceased being "entertaining" a while ago. ...and the devil? he's just annoying. I get that part. Part of it is that they want the built-in audience to shovel money to them rather than take time to make something new (which they know will fail without that initial fanbase to prop it up), and part of it is a desire to remake these franchises in their own woke image because they hate what they originally stood for.

What many of us don't realize, and as it was explained to me, women "fight" by attacking your character, not the core issue. The goal is to get the person(s) off balance by expending their energy defending their character instead of focusing on the core issue(s). Thus, the woman is able to blur the _true_ issue(s) and "win" by gaining undeserved sympathy, a type of "war of attrition". That's all Headland and Amandla are doing, namely, gaslighting, attacking people's character (e.g. "Oh you're just a bigot!), and blurring/concealing the true core issues. That way they don't have to take accountability for the trash they produced, their lack of skill and experience in movie/show production, and lack of knowledge and inventiveness. Instead, they attempt to gain the sympathy vote because they're supposedly gay and "marginalized".

I found a book about Walt Disney World and Epcot that was produced the year that Epcot opened. It's one of those historical pieces that reminds you of what Disney once was. When the Disney organization appeared hopeful for the future of humanity.

I love seeing two of my favorite RUclipsrs talk about what used to be my favorite franchise.
Just some honesty people.
Fans want a rich history of character they love. Amazing well written story without any agendas or DEI. They are also sick of the directors and Disney using fans as escape goats for bad acting and badly written story. But if Directors, Actors, and writers start calling fans names and accusing them of being toxic men, racism, sexism, anti-female, or bigots with the DEI agenda. Fans will fire back and these big companies forget that what makes a movie money is the fans. You insult them with name calling and accusing them of being something just because they want a decades rich story well written without DEI. They will boycott your movies. Back when the Original trilogy was in theaters, diverse crowds of humans stood around the block waiting for tickets, all enjoying each other's company. Nobody was excluded, nobody was told, "This isn't for you!" or "You're too toxic to stand in line with us." Nothing in the movies beat us over the head with politics. This was pure, escapist entertainment, and a LOT of the fans were young men who weren't the alpha coolest bad-asses, and their friends, families and dates. These guys loved being able to escape and feel like greatness was possible. Now? Diversity and Inclusion doesn't include us, not even a little bit.
I have seen Star Wars from the day it started in 1977. Tired of decades of Star Wars rich history being destroyed just to please a DEI agenda. After Star Wars 1 throu 6 it has gone down hill. Absolutely. I was 12 when the first Star Wars came out. The 2 to follow were just as amazing as the original Star Wars, but then they went to crap and kept getting worse. In my opinion
