Update: If you play on 1.20 or above you need to aim the crosshair slightly above the chest before casting the rod.
Its funny how yesterday when 1.20 wasn't out yet I searched for a fish farm and you was the easiest and the best then today you make video about this same fish farm again

This tutorial was great. I just had to do different things on mobile as far as building. I use a rail on block above and to the side and pushed the cart in on top of the hopper after placing the sign then rebuilt around it.
For 1.20 and above: You can also use banner instead of sign at the front so that you can stand anywhere like before without having to worry about editing the sign.

You can also aim your crosshair at the fish and itll work in 1.20
Works like a charm. If you're having difficulties casting the rod just place a block above the upper chest while holding shift. Now you can just right click the block above the chest and it will cast the rod successfully every time.

this thing worked beautifull❤ i used this farm for 20 minutes with luck of the sea 2 and lure 2 and i got a ton of enchanted bows and fishing rods , 84 cods , 43 salmons , some trash and around 10 XP levels.

It does not work at all...i did everything exactly as the video...not only i have to recast every time, i do not get it back automatically..i mean the rod...i have to press it to get the rod back...the hopper situation does not work as well, every fish i caught till now, just goes in my inventory, if i am miles away, it just stays on top of the ground...wtf is this?

For safety measures you can use fench gate so you don't accidentally fell to the lava
To fix the problem with the signs, use wax on them to prevent them from being edited

It’s afk if you get an auto clicker and set a 17-22 second interval between clicks

I did, however, have to make one simple change.
1.20 and editable signs seems to have broken this. Clicking on the sign opens the edit sign feature. Clicking higher opens the chest or, disastrously, opens the rear trap door, leaving your fish to flop around until it dies.
This can be solved by replacing the front sign on the chest with a banner. Don't ask me why a banner wouldn't burn up; but so would a sign, so fire logic doesn't apply in Minecraft. LOL

How do you get the rod to stay in the water? Once a fish is caught it auto retracts for me.
Put a solid block above the chest and use the rod on that block. It makes it easier and doesn't edit the signs or anything

two notes that worked for me:
1. you must cast above the chest slightly and have the trap door on the end flat on the ground.
2. items were not going into chest for me. so i just put the chest directly under the hopper instead of beside and now works.

After 20 minutes of using it a creeper came a blew it up, and then a second creeper came to rub it in my face and then he blew the rest up. Im so pissed rn 😡
Edit: I rebuilt it and hopefully no creepers blow me up this time.

I'm on ps5 , we tried all sorts of combination, and it wasn't working then I got the biggest salmon you could get and use that as the fish and then it work. But otherwise really helpful and good tutorial
What I did was place block above the chest so that I was not accessing the chest aim your Rod at the block you placed above the chest and it works perfect no problem

This tutorial worked better than anything I’ve built I just had to edit some of the signs but other than that it was great!

I finally found a way to fix the problem of items not getting inside the chest. Just place the lava above the hopper, no need for the minecart and sign 😊

For Bedrock +1.20, Use a Banner for the front of the chest since you can edit signs with right click. If items are mostly burning in lava, Replace the minecart-Chest + rail with just another hopper and it should work as intended. Set an auto clicker with delay of about 14s without rod enchantments and delay of 7s with max rod enchantments.

I’ve got the same setup and everything but for some reason when I cast the rod and it gets a bite, it doesn’t make the catch on its own. Then I tried reeling in and made the catch myself and the item flew at me and I collected it. But for some reason this method isn’t working with auto collection from the hopper/Minecraft
Update: I figured out the issue. I didn’t know that the exact placement of your cursor effected this whole setup 😭 the hopper (I’ve never used one before) has a pipe at the bottom and that pipe will connect to the block/chest/etc that you’re pointing it at. When I placed it, I was looking at the block it would be on so it was connecting to that block and trying to store everything in the stone block underneath it. When I destroyed it all and redid the process, I pointed at the chest and saw the hopper’s pipe at the bottom make an L-shape to the chest. So for anyone like me who’s never tried the hopper before, hope that helps 😂😂😭😭

Anyone having a problem with the loot you get from fishing falling into lava
If you remove the lava, you can still catch everything but it will require you to tap the button to return your line before you cast again
I mainly use cod because I've had problems with salmon phasing though the trap doors
Me: this is an easy farm can't mess this up!

Ok I'm playing on Xbox series s bedrock.
I built this 3 times and it didn't work so I came back to the video and I noticed right as he cast the first time he crouches down.
So I said "mf if I just had to crouch imma be pissed"
Because I rebuilt it 3 freaking times....
Turns out you have to crouch in front and cast when your + is over the back trap door
But it's working for me now after I crouch. You have to stay crouch while your using it though

I found I made a minecart chest instead of a minecart hopper
@@nobody1888so I’ve gotten it past instantly burning in the lava but now when the hopper cart and the hopper fill up nothing goes to the chests
Just go down a block and sun over the signs and over the chest
Everything lights on fire. Followed instructions to a tee. Nothing gets to my double chest. It all burns up in the lava. Only difference was my rails facing the opposite direction but it physically wouldn't let me point them towards the chest.

Can confirm it still works in 1.20 - not sure what people are talking about with the size of the water, I'm getting loot with just the video water blocks.
Suggestion: place a slab over the chest as a spot to aim at, works perfectly.

This worked great! After a day of using this in my Hardcore World I had perfect enchantments on my bow, pickaxe, and Loyalty Trident! I was ready to go to the Nether…
…Then tragedy struck. In the process of building an umbrella to keep the Phantoms off me, I backed into the lava part and died. Lost my Hardcore World I’ve been working on for a month now… I had full Diamond gear and everything. :(
Although to be fair I did watch 2 villagers push each other into the lava pit a few hours beforehand, That should’ve been my first sign… Is there any way to make this design more safer? Something to cover the lava pit when not in use at least?
Place a slab at head height above the lava so you can still cast your rod while your standing still. For the phantoms simply build a cage so they can't get to you.

Question though, Do you think the Type and size of the fish in the water effects what loot you get in any way? Wondering if ocean waters full of tropical fish give different loot compared to rivers full of cod and salmon… I’m considering putting a very angry puffer fish I caught in it. Lol
