Thought I found all mine, quite a few. Used more flamible spray and sure enough showed a leak there. Gonna go to junkyard and get that entire vacumn harness and the valve. If that doesn't fix my idle checking the charcoal canister. It has hoses to it also, under the spare. When ya fix one another starts to leak, glad I caught this, was getting lean codes. Great video
Found where at the exhaust gas inlet to the intake manifold, the plastic manifold had began rotting away from the inside, presumably from hot gas and oils. The inlet manifold which was past the throttle body had developed pits which basically began leaking.
Should have added I plugged the holes with a couple of layers of jb weld. Since I just did it, I'm not sure how long it will hold, but at least it will get me a chance to replace the manifold.
We just picked up a 01 Taurus. The check engine light is on and we were told it needed 02 sensors. I got the exact same 2 codes you got here engine running lean. Was getting ready to change them but after this video, I'll be checking for a leak today. I hadn't thought about it until this video but it doesn't make sense that 2 sensors go out at the same time. I bet I have a leak somewhere. I have an idea where I'll find it too. I also have a fuel cap loose light on (new cap ordered). I suspect its somewhere around the EGR valve or the EGR valve pressure sensor since I've been told they can cause that light to come on. I actually have both those parts also so it would be great if thats where the problem is.
I noticed you replied to someone saying that part is available on eBay can you please tell me what I would call this part? also I took my hose off like you did and the car shut off but yours didnt any idea why?
I have is the P0171 Lean bank 1. Also a P0113 Intake air temp sensor circuit high input. It's a 2005, 3.0L Duratec DOHC FWD I cleaned my MAF and changed the air filter. Can't hear any obvious vacuum leaks. Car idles fine in Park but shakes a bit in drive at a stop. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the video. I'm gonna use your technique for location vacuum leaks.
just a hiccup huh? ok. I have that on my Ford truck when I spray and I'll pursue this as well. I was looking for a surge in rpm, but a stutter I guess is also valid. thanks a lot.
Had same codes and i barely found it. It was the hose coming from the PVC valve underneath the intake cover. Having big hands just made it more troublesome to change the hoses and PVC itself
Could you tell me what the vacuum hose is with the green fitting is? It is located on the fire wall left- passenger side, and connects to the back of the top of engine- 2003 ford taurus 3.0

Know where the canaster purge valve and selenoid are on these? (2000) Can't find any info on it. Gonna change canaster, I'll find a low mileage one at the jy, then I'm done working on this old poc, still has 172, 174 codes. Just idles like crap half the time. And fans turn on only on heat setting not defrost, can't figure that one out either, nobody can
And be careful of that hard plastic vacumn line, lost my power brakes other day, i must of hit it changing plugs. Repaired bad end with high heat vacumn line. Concerning fuel pump, google image it then make measurements where to cut, I was almost dead on, I cut a "door" under backseat to replace it with tin snips. Folded sheet metal back down and used Gorilla tape to seal cuts.
have 2003 Taurus 3.0 OHV....been having stalling and fast idle issues.speed will increase on it own. when stopped or in park .when i turn on the air or the heater the RPM will fluctuate up and down then car will stall out. have replaced the IAC and MAF don't know what else to check . would you have any ideas

@@djentyman4002 very true. The proper was to do it is using propane from a torch. Don't light it just let the gas come out and use a hose from the nozzle to let the gas come out and go around your engine. It's better then this because if you spray this you can catch your car to catch on fire but that it'll be just a tiny ball of fire but your engine won't be on fire lol
That's your O2 sensors....something electrical is not right....Check you wires etc going to your 02 sensors....there not getting a connection sounds like.

Thank you for posting! I have the PO171 and PO174 trips on our 2004 Taurus. Hopefully this will help me track it down. Thanks again!
These cars seem to have there share of cracked hoses from age.

Probably so ;( I've have very few auto with bad freeze plugs. Just your luck!

What is that hose call going from your intake hose into the engine by the oil ??
Good video I have the same problem but I am using coolant any advice ?
Look for a leak ;)
Big thanks Buddy
Well this is a timely video. It's September again and my daughter has the same car with the same codes. 😁👍
O no! Start with checking vacuum leaks!
@Nathan Rohrbough just wondering if you got a po420 and po430 codes as well?

did your engine run smoothly or did you have driveability issues?
It ran ok but after I found the leak it ran smoother ;)

Whats of spray is that
Spray can.
@@FixingWithPassion what kind of spray can. Or what staff ." Carburetor "?
I think carb cleaner??
Can you use soapy water bottle to conduct this test???
Probably not.
Water will actually do just fine. Don’t need to be soapy either
I wouldnt. Don't want water sucked into your engine. It's a vacuum line.
Chase Akmal also don’t want flammable carb cleaner going into your engine either
