      sadly, people have 1 bad experience with ford and they're like "what everyone says is true found on road dead piece of junk!" but often times they're cheap or simple repairs, as long as you don't use head gasket sealer or stop leak lol

    OMG YOU MIGHT HAVE JUST SAVED MY CAR. I got my dad's beater. A 2011 ford Taurus with 250k miles sitting for 3 years. I just dropped 4.5k in New brakes and tires for it. And all of a sudden I felt this for the last 2 weeks. I swear I will update this if I can get this fixed this way. I almost started crying bro. Your description was near spot on for what I am experiencing.

    My 3.0 v6 Sable was getting rough idle and stumble acceleration so tested coil secondary's which showed 11.5K, 11.5k and infinity on third. Took my vom to junkyard found one and tested equal 11.5k ohm. Installed and fixed all my issues.
    I had a loose plug wire which may have damaged my orig coil (?).
    Thanks for the video.

    I just bought an 03 Taurus SES, very well maintained, fairly low miles @almost 122k. I happened to grab the model that takes Unleaded and Flexfuel (E85)
    I decided to put flex fuel because it was only 3.79 a gallon vs like 5.60 unleaded. But I’d say a day or two after, my idle became rough, it would buck and jerk accelerating from a stop, sometimes on the freeway. My spark plug wires look pretty new along with the coil pack. I drove it almost a week and the check engine finally came on. I decided to clean my MAF sensor, unfortunately it hasn’t made much of a difference. I’ve been filling up with unleaded, hoping the system would just work itself out. I read that when you change fuel types it’s not perfect at first. There’s an adjust period

    I just bought a 2001 Taurus, SES, Vulcan 3.0 V-6, 82K original owner miles, with platinum plugs, getting 22mpg hwy.. Before I went in for the smog I wanted to be sure it passed. After doing the following: I got 27 mpg hwy, but I'm not sure which helped the most. As follows: SeaFoam in 1 tank of premium gas; Oil Change Mobil One Full Synthetic and Slick 50 with a ten minute flush just before the change; Air Filter; PCV Valve; Catyclean with 1/4 tank premium: Rotate / Balance Tires; Alignment; Spray clean Throttle Body and MAF. Fuel Injection Cleaner by local Walmart. All told, about $200.
    But, I think the real change was the last thing I did, when it jumped up to 27mpg: using Copper Core, basic, OEM plugs. Copper Core won't last as long, but it was running smoother and the mpg just jumped way higher than I expected with these basic plugs.
    IDK who put in your plugs, but that's the first thing I would have tried: plugs and wires. Not sure why you did it last, because that's basic ignition. Glad your car works fine now.

    Plugs of today seldom crack. At one time the engine may have overheated, weakening the porcelain insulator on the plug. Engine vibration did the rest of the damage to the plugs. Old time plugs would crack with little force, and it would be easy to see at night with the hood up. Just like lightning under the hood it would look like. Same check for the old style resistor-less plug wires, the insulating rubber would dry out and disintegrate causing "grounding out" near the valve cover or block.

    2002 mercury sable same as a Taurus I guess. Intermittent problem with car jerking/jolting and sometimes stalls when you come to a stop. Was giving me a p0340, circuit bank one sensor one. Been to three mechanics in town. Had the camshaft sensor changed. Very scary and dangerous to drive. I'm thinking that all the spark plugs need to be changed out. Wish I knew how to do it myself. Can you tell me where is the 5th spark plug. Top or bottom. I have a 2005 Sable, which is exactly like th ed Taurus with 83,000 original miles. The scanner says is the #5, because is hesitating and more or less doing the same thing. I changed the 3 bottom spark plugs, but the problem continues and all the videos l have seen shows the top are 1,2 and 3 and the bottom 4, 5 and 6. I didn't change the coils because they looked fine. And each coil cost $72 in Autozone. Im going to buy one and replace the middle one on the bottom.

    That area of the plug is called the porcelain insulation. They get brittle and weak over time. You should have had all the same brand if the tune up was done properly. Not going to ask why I seen 8 plugs for a 6 cylinder though.

    HELP!! My car runs well. It's a 2002 ford Taurus with the Vulcan engine like yours. Mine just started to act up the other day and doesn't do it all the time but I was going about sixty and I gave it about 3/4 throttle and it was either sputtering or like shifting back and forth I couldn't tell I tried to see if I could do it again to see what rmps are doing and I may check plugs tonight. The transmission fluid was good but probably needs to be changed someday. Its also only got 140k miles.

    • @FixingWithPassion

      Ive done the system test using the 3 info buttons by the gauges and everything comes up 100% good . But when my mechanic plugs In his computer it comes up 2 separate coils are misfiring. 1 happens to be under the manifold the other in the front. Already bought 6 plugs just waiting to have $ for all 6 coils so I can change everything all In one shot. Thinking about also doing the pcv valve to try an improve the mpg while I have the manifold and air filter out of the way. I appreciate your comment

    • @FixingWithPassion
      @FixingWithPassion  6 лет назад +1

      Do a fuel pressure test if you can. Does it miss any on start up? Mine did. Check those o ring seals on the top of the injectors...look real close... ;)

    • @papafruugg22
      @papafruugg22 6 лет назад

      Thankfully it Starts up strong every time. Will see what I can get done before the winter hits NY. Praying the new coils , plugs and pcv will make a big difference. Just today I was strolling on my way home not doing more then 50mph and a slight jerk followed by about 1k lose of RPMS all happened within a few seconds then right back to normal. Could that be a dirty fuel injector? Or from the misfire?

    • @FixingWithPassion
      @FixingWithPassion  6 лет назад +1

      You know....that 2003 4.0 taurus I had would do the same thing! On start
      up it sometimes would have a miss in one of the cylinders. And driving
      sometimes it would "jerk" driving at hwy speeds. But when it was missing
      on start up for 20ish seconds, I'd smell fuel. Never did figure it out
      because the woman wanted the car and she she did not care as long as it
      ran. It had to be a o ring in one of the injectors I think because all
      cylinders had good compression. Maybe your new coils will help. But I
      think it has something to do with a slight fuel leak causing the fuel
      pressure to bleed off while it was setting. Keep us up to
      date!

    • @mbyrd624
      @mbyrd624 5 лет назад +1

      You absolutely have to disconnect the air intake hose and a few other connectors on the Taurus Vulcan 3.0 to access the back of the engine. There's just no room to work back there. There is another video here on YT showing how to change the back 3 plugs using a swivel wrench and a piece of 5/8 rubber tubing, well worth a watch.
