I'd say I agree with the statement that we can't change the past, but Christie's needs to be more upfront about the charities this sale will benefit it from. Otherwise it's just another cash grab from a situation that put people in their graves already. Yes we cannot change the past, but we can make good out of a bad situation. Be conscience and clear with your actions on this one Christie's.
Damn, how beautiful. I guarantee those who where able to flee, probably continued the jewelry buisness elsewhere else. Its super Upsetting they had to sell such precious, beautiful work during a horrible time
If you find worth in shiny things, that’s alright. Paying 150 MILLION DOLLARS for a small stone instead of using it for something better is, dare I say, stupid.
And it's funny they can buy all of these jewelry but can't feed the homeless just wow then again people kill each other over money to or jewelry this why I don't were that lousy stuff hate jewelry and lazy rich folks
Firstly, 150 million is for the whole collection. Not a single rock. Secondly, people tend to forget that jewelry tend to hold value even after many years pass. So, yes. It's only stupid to those that can't think far enough.
I'd be okay with this depending on where the money will go. You can't just say "It will go to charity" because there's no way to check and see if you actually did. Where is it going specifically?
They sold their jewelry, the circumstances sucked but that does not make the sale of those same jewels illegal or immoral. At the end of the day the lives of the people who sold them to save themselves and their families mattered more than material goods.
I keep liquidatable assets on hand because one never knows when your $$$ may become worthless or your country may become invaded . You may have to flee ! Atleast you will have something to negotiate with . I learned this from WWII and other situations . I’m glad survivors had assets to escape .
Auctioneers: Apologies Mr. Wayne but it's against the spirit of the auction to give everything to just one man. (Especially with someone who lives in Gotham where everything gets stolen.)
If I had that sort of dosh I'd certainly buy something from that collection. Whom ever buys something I hope they enjoy wearing it. Also, quite right - history cannot be eradicated.

If it doesn’t belong to you mind your own business. Everyone always putting their nose where it doesn’t belong. Anyone in this world who owned these would probably want to sell them period
They brought them at a discount what's wrong with that, and in that case king Charles needs to return the 2 stars of Africa diamonds 2 massive diamonds they stole out of Africa.
Why would anyone want to give money to charity? It's better to act like nothing ever happened. Really. History is events that happened. People had to do what they had to.
Way not relevant and Britian can crown a king without permission from anyone. As any country can elect any leader, head of state or representatives without your permission.
@@SunRise-lr7ch nobody cares about your monarchy. You can continue to genuflect. the video is about stolen jewels. I was talking about all the stolen jewels on display during that ceremony
I get both sides of this, but I’d be a hypocrite if I didn’t lean more towards the side that currently owns it, it’s a really complicated situation, but it’s not truly the jewelry owners fault, one could possibly say it was the fault of the original buyer back during/possibly before WWII, but it’s not the fault of whomever has control of the assets during the present. Furthermore finding the descendants of the original owners would be rather hard. Many Jews changed their names around that time, many documents have been lost, etc etc. Furthermore it’s no longer their property, although I sympathize, its been too long.
So she is given the money to charity, I thought there was a movie about her that she didn't get anything in the divorce she only was allowed to keep her jewelry and everything he bought her , they did a movie and she sell the jewelry to get money so non-confused

Very well said. Completely agree here.
I thought they was going to say they were stolen. Im curious how much they were sold for back then, and what they were worth at that time.

Yeah it should be stolen instead of paying that much money 👀

Legal but not moral
Glad greedy auction house has had to halt sale
If it was sold legitimately and not stolen them it’s all good.
They sold their jewelry, the circumstances sucked but that does not make the sale of those same jewels illegal or immoral. At the end of the day the lives of the people who sold them to save themselves and their families mattered more than material goods.

We as humans come from nothing, and we’re going back to nothing, who cares sell. It sell it sell it if you wish.
Why don't they sell the jewls to a museum? The museum can pay fot it and then show them on display for tourists
Museums prefer donations and the security on the pieces would be cost prohibitive
Listen if people wanna buy controversial jewelry then let them spend their money. I can't afford it anyway lol
This is a tough moral dilemma!
It already happened
Bruce Wayne: yeah, give me 10 of those.
Bruce Wayne spends 200 million dollars for gems
Bruce Wayne: pocket money

😮. Beautiful
Such beautiful jewels
Well right or wrong there's money to be made Chrissy's is a business and of course they're going to make money
My prediction is this gunna be around 212 Million dollars
History wil always be there. And whoever thr owner is they can do as they please with the collection.
waste of money to get that.

You need to be atleast net worth of 450 million USD to be financial stable in bank account
Rich Jewish people should purchase them then.

Britain has to return a whole lot more than just that. Most of their museum is stolen items
The money should go to Palestinians whose land was stolen and those who suffered from Israeli terrorism. 👍
Not one grain of sand was stolen from anyone. It was undeveloped area the Muslims want now it's built up.

People had to do what they had to.
Hopefully the money will ONLY go to “The chosen ones”. 🙄🙄🙄
