    An improvement and livable, but still can get better. Good catch on the soft mute. 👍

    I'm not going to bother with the Raddy RF919 or its knockoffs or the Choyong LC90 until they get their act together.

    The received signal is offset by ~1.5kHz +\- but should be displayed being at the frequency. In other words the sideband hence BFO is offset by that amount.

    I am still displeased that my
    Choyong LC90M for mini, as
    with the larger LC90, will not
    connect with my WiFi, now
    T Mobile Gateway 5G, as was
    the case with my prior Xfinity
    1GB cable modem
    Choyang team tells me the
    failure to connect is the
    Security protocol, such as WPA2/WPA3, which the receiver they say can't handle
    My European Ocean internet,
    GM analog and DAB, which the
    US doesn't use, connects to
    my WiFi with no problem

      @@cfldriven my AT&T Router was causing problems with my Choyong LC90. It has to do with the same SSID name for both 2GHz and 5 Ghz networks. Eventually I bought an older $17 TP-Link 2Ghz router on Amazon and plugged it in the back of my AT&T fiber router setting it up as a Wireless Access Point. No more disconnects, No More Buffering. Stays connected 24/7.

      @cfldriven 13 дней назад

      @@KarlDahlquist I used to have an ATT router and was able to log into it and change the SSID by adding 2G and 5G so I could tell them apart. Log on info should be on side of router. I personally like having the radio on it's own net.

    Dan - what's your thoughts or your secret info of when a version 2 of this radio will or may be released from the manufacturer -- I've been waiting to buy to be hampered by the thought they would bring out a new version after I would purchase... for the love. Thanks.

      Don't know if this helps, but it only works on 2.5Ghz WiFi with WPA2 or less which may explain people not being able to connect. Also have to use microSD for firmware update. I've had the radio for several months and already they have provided 2 firmware updates adding new features. Glad I went Choyong.

    • @dxace1
      @dxace1  16 дней назад +1

      I think that if you send something back 3 times, there is a high chance that the error is with the user...

      @@dxace1 While defective products get through, I've also seen many who don't bother with reading the manual.
      According TechSee, 41% of respondents have returned a non-defective electronics item in the last 12 months. The study also revealed 65% of respondents decide to return non-defective electronic products early on, citing frustration and/or confusion during product unboxing/unpackaging, installation, and first use.

    Will the SSB drift if you let it sit on a tuned frequency, say like 20 minutes or so?

    • @dxace1
      @dxace1  16 дней назад +1

      I have communicated with Choyong on this -- there really needs to be a more stable master oscillator on this -- the drift is not serious but it is noticeable

    The lc90 is a good internet radio but crappy MW radio. Basically it's deaf on this band and can only receive 2 or 3 broadcasts here in belgium. It's by far the worst MW radio I have. On SW it's ok but far from being outstanding. The Tecsun PL330 is way superior. On FM, it's fine, but not fantastically sensitive.
    However where the LC90 shines, it's the audio quality. Very good sound.
    The voice search is totally usable after the last update.
    All in all, it's overpriced. A wiser choice would have been to use the same radio chip as the Qodosen dx286. Even without ssb, this would have given a way better overall radio. Also, they should fix issues with the internal noise coming from the screen/ cpu. Even a lot cheaper radios are not prone to internal noise.

    • @markr.1984
      @markr.1984 16 дней назад

      If a PL330 is better, that's not saying much because the PL330 ain't all that great. I have one and they are not what I'd call a bad radio but not magnificent either. At least it's easier to use than a Malahit, which you have to fiddle around with on the complicated settings to finally get something really good.

  • @markr.1984
    @markr.1984 16 дней назад

    If I got this radio, I would not get it for SSB, I'm a ham so I can get SSB on many transceivers and even quite a few receive-only rigs. My favorite for SSB is my Malahit DSP2 because it has an insanely good noise blanker and limiter. So good the noise floor literally goes away almost entirely, not just go down a bit. Get this LC90 radio for the WIFI internet stuff, not for the real radio part. Just my two cents.
