What I want to know is it has better front end protection than the previous S-2000/Grundig 750. Can you imagine tuning in images with such an expensive radio while you won't have this problem with an older and cheaper Sony SW-7600G or GR? I noticed a dicrease in audio quality and noise floor level rise when synchronous detection is used. I find it inferior to Tecsun PL-660's although its threshold is far lower, which is good. By the way, you just confirmed 9330kHz is WBCQ. I could listen to Word Last Chance's program in Brazilian Portuguese.
I am looking at getting my first shortwave radio. I am brand new to it. I thought about getting a small portable, but my eyesight isn’t good. (I still may get a small portable.) I may consider something like this, although this could be overkill. But I am in a noisy urban environment with a lot of interference from neighbors, etc. I don’t want to put up an external antenna because of lightning strikes here. I wonder if I would still be able to hear anything with just the built-in antenna on this device, positioning the radio indoors?
Well ty Dan. With the RF 919 I'm Soo glad I didn't buy it and waited now I know what radio to buy. Between you and Gillies review he's even over the moon with this radio 📻..it will take a while to save up for but i will get this radio ty for all you do Dan. 73.
Will try to do this in another video, tks. RF manual gain is maximum just after you go out of AGC. I didn't notice much difference between AGC and manual max
You fiddled too much with the controls after putting it in Sync for us to tell what it's actually doing. I've seen other reviews where the Sync function seems to be working good on some bands but not others, so it's probably a bit quirky, however this radio seems to preform well without Sync anyway.
That is an interesting question -- unless I have missed something, there is no regular AC input jack. The USB-C is for battery charging only. And I have to think that running the radio while charging will not bring good results.

Thanks Dan, 73!
So far it looks like a winner.
is the RF noise on MW external or self interference from the receiver itself?
There is no "soft muting" on the DSP chip because it is not required to change its frequency, it is fixed tuned at the third IF frequency..
Dan, thank you for a nice demonstration on the 2200x.
Where is this model manufactured?
China
Would be nice to see RF Gain & ATT effects on big & small signals.

Not bad, but the noise level on the new radios is higher than on the old ones. Why cannot they make less noisy new radios?
It"s even noisier than the 2000.

Wobbly knob syndrome seen at 5:28. It looks like Tecsun hasn't fixed that, lol.
That's a shame...
Where can you buy this?
It's supposed to be available to the general public in September. He was sent an early version for testing.
Can it run on AC power?

@@dxace1 Because of RFI?
@@dxace1 It should be a relatively easy mod though.
Dan, are you using only the built in whip, a wire or combination of both?
Telescopic only
Sync is as terrible as the pl880 is terrible. Tecsun must end its shame with a DSP synchro detector
