3 weeks here. Last time I caught this was 3 years ago when my son was an infant. We used to listen to Primus every morning at breakfast. He loves Primus now!
I'm finding it to be delightful background music during my study time. It's one of the few bands I can listen to that isn't purely instrumental (while studying). And yes, "really pleasant funky illness" is a pretty accurate description. I've also convinced the girls in my belly dance troupe to dance to Jerry Was A Racecar Driver. woooooooo!
Cleef was a hell of a man. He was awarded the bronze star for his service in WW2 as a Sonarman. He was able to pick out German U-boats after the USS Incredible was targeted and fired upon by German torpedoes. He was also a huge mathematics nerd and worked as an accountant before trying out for his first role in Clinton, playing a part in the "Our Town" theatre act. In short, he was the best bad guy there ever was.
ben beeber whose on script duty? Let's do this thing. We going animated or live action? I got a pretty sweet moustache and would happily lose a leg. Never mind the Swan do you look anything like Clint?
The best Clint Eastwood-Lee Van Cleef clip is the one where Clint's character shot at Lee's character's hat and blew it right off his head, when Lee tried to pick it up Clint fired at the hat again so that it moved upstreet, when Lee tried to pick it up again the same. When Lee was out of reach, he took his rifle and fired at Clint's hat and blew it right off Clint's head about 200 yards upstreet. An unforgettable scene
It wasn't a rifle. He affixed a shoulder stock to his long barreled pistol. The extra barrel length meant he could shoot more accurately at longer range. Great scene!
I was just remarking to a friend the other day how Lee was so overlooked by the general audiences of his films. He was magnificent in his roles. The older I get the more he steals the spotlight in the trilogy.
I had no idea Primus was still going so strong after the 90's, this track is the most AWESOME thing I've heard in years! MY GOD, THE GROOVE OF THIS IS OFF THE CHARTS! I LOVE THIS TRACK!🙂
Lee Van Cleef might have died, but legend has it his mustache is still alive to this day, going to and fro, roaming the earth, unable to rest in peace, as it seeks the new chosen one with the angel eyes to impart the Lee-stache power upon.
Man I can't believe I forgot this legendary band! Still rocking still different still weird. Rooting for the bad guy love it! Can't stop listening to this song!
I think this song is about playing bass ( Lee van cleef ) rather than the guitar ( Clint Eastwood ). Everyone wants to be a guitarrist, just like everyone wants to be Clint. but Claypool wanted to be Lee Van Cleef.
Yes I think that’s part of it, but I think it’s also about where Claypool’s whole persona in general comes from, including choosing to be a bass virtuoso instead of a guitar virtuoso like you said, and him not really identifying with the typical hero quite as much. In the video at the end that’s him as a kid in front of the Studabaker, clapping when Lee Van Cleef wins while everyone else is mad that Clint lost. I think it’s just an insight into his childhood, showing that he’s always gone for something a little different from everyone else.
@@ohheyididntseeu it’s “about” Les’ childhood in general not just the pickup truck, his dad’s Studabaker is just something that he mentions to tie in to his memories at the drive-in.
