  • Sometimes you get a poor performing plane and with quality control issues at that. this Corsair is very underpowered, the retract just fell out and the tail wheel mechanism does not work right.
Based upon this maiden and the planes performance the BEST I can say is the plane looks good.
Sorry but I do not recommend this plane FMS.

I agree with the glue deal but she had a lot of force on that last landing breaking side ways at the end before she gave way .

I’ve had this plane for a couple years now, I changed it to 8S and it’s wonderful! All that is required is changing ESC! Can’t speak to quality issue mine was fine.

Beautiful looking model and I personally love the scale flight characteristics, but it’s unfortunate about the undercarriage, I want one badly but in Australia they’re over $1150 plus freight and now I have to budget for extra epoxy😂. Thanks for an honest review, pity some others don’t follow your example, great work by the camera gal too.

      @FatGuyFliesRC  2 месяца назад

Well I was not sure but I believe I saw the wheel wobble a little after the second landing so a grass landing was already not a good thing. I believe that caused her to side step a bit and that was the last straw for a compromised gear.

Good maiden! Flight modes worked too.
I have owned mine for about year now. Main gear mounting point isnt a good design.Mine was the same way and finally got the right glue to mount solid.
I converted to 8s for awhile.Havent flown in few months and converted back to 6s few days ago. Flew the next day,top speed feels should be faster (which 8s will spoil and make 6s seem more qeaker) but has decent vertical and adequate power for basic stuff. One thing is for sure, stable and smooth!

I replaced my esc with a 8s capable 120amp and reglued the retracts. Now she is great. The rear wheel plastic control pin might break but drill the plastic and put a small screw as a pin like Two Brothers. Except changing the esc the other issues are minor and easily fixed. With 8s she has unlimited vertical.

Great looking plane. Personally, I've given up on scale warbirds and EDFs with retracts. Gear are too fragile, too complicated, add weight, kinda crappy on grass. Going to big tires, carbon fiber landing gear. Flex Cessna, Otter, Laser are next on my list.

    • @FatGuyFliesRC

Thanks FG! I watch for this on all my planes manufactured by these companies. I use the small gorilla glue sticks and never have a problem again. It’s just part of the process for me now. It’s hit or miss on which fms models. My bae hawk never a problem. F86 got the glue treatment. You’re right FG! Not enough glue consistency . Quality control not the best.

Here’s the question - would you rather that the gear pop out or that it bend? Personally, I love the pop out design. You’re right- pretty much all companies are doing that type of retract Glue job now. There are some good Lipo powered hot glue guns available now, so you can glue it back in at the field. The trick is, use a cooler glue gun setting, and not too much glue, so it can pop out again, instead of bending- hope that helps

    • @FatGuyFliesRC

Oh i agree a simple pop out is much easier to fix than bent gear.

U need the 120A esc Hobbywing Flyfun. Basically the same esc the 8s Eurofighter has and then fly it on 7s or 8s. RC informer doen a few vids about it a while back. Makes the plane perform how it should. Brian Philips also thinks its massively underpowered on 6s. Can imagine as its a huge heavy bird. First thing I done with mt FMS Tigercat was up the motor KV and 120A Escs and run on 7s. Thing climbs for days

E6000 Premium or Gorilla Glue Clear no foam - don't trust any manufacturers retracts! Take it apart before the first flight and glue the snot out of those buggers! She looked real good in the air, nice and stable. Not every plane needs to be a speed demon but if you want to run a virtual swap out for speed get an eCalc subscription. Then you can plug in all your planes parameters and see what happens if you go to a higher capacity battery, esc, motor or props.

I have both version's, the older v2 and current v3 F4U Corsair 1700mm from FMS. Both are very scale looking and scale performance, nether are speed demon rather more like advance trainer's. but a joy to fly when in that warbird mood. the wheels are plastic which attribute to sliding on landing, this can cause the wheels to wobble and the glue to loosen up.

I would invest in Robart Wheels. There are scale and you pant them. The wheels are heavier but for my money that what I would do on the planes ! I have the FMS P-47 1500mm, and the FMS P51 1700mm and the FMS T-28 Trojan all still in the box! But as soon as assembled them and check the Diameter of all the them I am purchasing Robart Wheels for all. To bad on those Retracts Greg! That just sucks. As far no gyro I will not do that either. Like you stated in Video the wind was calm. IMO these planes are not cheap and any improvements I can make to bring it home in one piece is my motivation! 👍😃😢
