  • “How do you achieve the impossible? This is how.”
    After winning everything from Olympic gold to the IRONMAN World Championships in one year, Kristian Blummenfelt aimed to go faster than any other Ironman triathlete in the history of the sport as part of the Pho3nix Sub7/Sub8 Project.
    An ambitious endeavor to push the limits of human endurance, Blummenfelt was chosen for this bold attempt to complete the full Ironman triathlon distance in less than 7 hours. The unique event threw out the usual no-drafting rules of Ironman races and allowed each athlete a team of pacers for the swim, bike and run legs.
    Blummenfelt and his team of eight pacers each rode the new CADEX Tri frameset and CADEX Aero WheelSystems, cutting-edge race gear that helped the Norwegian accomplish his goal. He completed the 180km bike distance with a time of 3:24:22 for an average speed of 52.8 kph, shattering his target time by nearly 25 minutes for a historic full distance IRONMAN time of 6:44:25.
    From high-altitude training camps in Spain, wind-tunnel analysis in the Netherlands to team preparations in France and race day in Germany, follow Kristian Blummenfelt’s journey to “achieve the impossible.”

    Kristian is without a doubt one of the absolute finest athletes this planet has to offer but also (without having actually ever met him) one of the most likeable athletes too.

    KB Big Blue is definitely, the best triathlete of all times. I met him the first time in Edmonton 2014 and later at Cozumel IM 2021. He is a humble super athlete.
    He also has the fortune to train with Gustav Iden, twice 70.3 World Champion. They were meant to be training friend partners. How lucky they are.

    For all the aerobic activity and endurance they are at the peak of, why are they not cut up and striated?

      Being more lean doesn’t necessarily translate to increased power output.

    Its an amazing thing that he did, but I just wish he didn't draft in the cycle

    • @lechprotean
      @lechprotean Год назад +3

      that was probably the difference between sub7 and above 7 tho. In general drafting with a tri bike is a pretty dangerous things, and it's hard to say someone is a 100% ironman if 5% of that is someone else breaking the wind for you...

    • @Slow.Smooth
      @Slow.Smooth Год назад

      Yeah that’s the only way man. Like you can’t pedal that fast alone.

    • @enjoyfischer
      @enjoyfischer Год назад

      @@Slow.Smooth the crazy thing is he finished well below the sub 7, like 14mins I think, so would've been interesting to see if that 15mins could've went towards a non drafting bike ride
