Thank you for the conduit videos! I’ve been through a whole 2 year associates degree In mechatronics and they do not go over any conduit bending whatsoever even though we specialize in motor controls and high/low voltage troubleshooting. Now that I’m in the work force and we have to do any conduit bending no one in my facility knows how to do it.

We were always taught to measure 110mm from the end of the conduit that touches the box, make a mark. Line mark up on the bender and bend up so the bottom lip of your coupler is touching the entry of your box, flip the conduit over, put it in the bender so that the hook sits in the groove of your 1st bend. When you bend up the conduit parallel with no dog leg that'll complete your set

Thank you for your videos sir especially conduit bending. I failed conduit bending in my apprenticeship school. I like the how you explain how to adjust over bending of conduit.

Hi Craig. I have an idea for you to teach other guys about avoiding the dogleg. I had to think well to pops up that idea. Which is when I mark the metallic conduit such as the EMT. I do that.... For Offset, When I make for offset I mark plus +instead just marked round. the exact + will give me strait bend for offset whenI flipping over the conduit to bend the other mark of the offset. It's gave me REALLY GOOD results! Save time and hassles. Every time I have issues, I go back to my brain to think how can I avoid that issue? Jet let you know, I got a best employee of 2016.because I had to make 30 tons A/C unit after the carrier profissional guy couldn't fix it! Maybe because my experience gave me that smart thinking.. In other hand,I LOVE your teaching !!!! GO FOR IT!!👍👌

Hi I’m from the UK - London, thanks for ur video uploads, great help!
If you were running conduit in a straight run then off setting into an electrical back box then off setting back out the opposite side of the electrical box ...
How do you measure such a small offset
In your videos you mention the multiplier for 30deg is x2 , do the factors always remain at this fig for a 30 deg ??
If factors for multiplers always remains the same for the different degrees
    What are the multlpliers for
    10 deg
    22.5 deg
    45 deg
    ??
    Thank you
I’ve recently purchased a conduit bender
    And wish to bend conduit
But wish to understand how multipliers, shrinkage and the different angle of degrees all work together.
    Many thanks

      For 10° it 6
      22.5 it's 2.6
      45 it's 1.4

Even though he got the correct measurements, the bender is made to b placed on the floor.. as well as he shouldn’t have grabbed the back of the pipe while bending, it creates a big curve... u need to put ur hand closer to the bender if u are going to do it like that.

When bending a 30° offset, I bend the pipe down until it touches the 30° mark on the bend but it always ends up making my rise bigger than it needs to be.
Do you bend the pipe to where it's at the same angle as the line on the bender, or do you bring the edge of the pipe all the way to the line?
I'm very unclear on this, if you could help or make a video that would be amazing!

    • @dustinhylemon7209
      @dustinhylemon7209 4 года назад +1

Bend the pipe until its parallel with the 30° line. That will get you close. Every bender is different. You have different brands as well as aluminum heads or steel heads. So youll always have to play around with it

@Adonis Medallo i always have a perfect 30 degree by placing the conduit on the ground, and bending until the handle of the bender is 100% vertical

When you do your videos on bending there is one bend I would like some help understanding. I have never seen a video about this bend - 2 walls meet in a corner but there is also an obstruction in that corner. As an example - an 8x8 hvac duct or it might be somewhat larger or smaller, round or square or rectangle. You need to run your conduit along both walls. So I am thinking 2 45 degree bends \____/ to get around the obstruction. Is there a method to calculate the distance needed between the 2 45 degree bends or do you do the simple 45 degree bend with a stub on one stick of conduit and then 45 degree bend on another stick and just make them meet where they should. I know that sometimes it will depend on the situation. Because it is visible you might want to do a 90 with a 30 degree offset. but that is 150 degrees of bend. 2 45 degree bends in the false ceiling is only 90 degrees of bend in the run.

@@terryfoster6836 Point me in the direction of how to do a 2 point 90 correctly, Thanks. For every inch of rise and run add 1.41 inches of conduit?

"Bending around a corner with an obstruction" - spacing for 45 degree bends is the diameter of the obstruction times the multiplier for 45 degree bends like this, 2.4. I got that from Richard Cox' Conduit Bending Guide.

Ummm.. Shouldn't your first mark for the offset be at 9 inches and not 11!? You're losing an inch of pipe from shrinkage so the 10 inch mark should move forward an inch to account for your mark moving back an inch when the pipe is bent.
