A great year some of the best times of my life!!! i was 19 in 1989 and just discovering a wonderful substance called MDMA e...Fantastic, you had to have lived it to fully understand how good this era was!!
1989 was 17 and fully experienced the rave scene without any regrets the uk needs another time like this to sort out its problems with youth i can remember walking into a party and thousands of people there were your mates its somthing everyone should feel at least once
what amazing years of music we had in the 89 when we had the hot summer of 89 and the tory party was in power and the rich people was get well rich poor because tory power and the work case people was get so poor there was to much of commercial pop like jason and kilye in the chart at the time then a underground scene thing call acid house where load of people would goto and dance all night to this amaazing tune thank you to bring all amazing tune we had when i i was 21 year olds great time
I was there and yes it was a magical, amazing time but there was a dark side which no one talks about much. Many people ended up on harder drugs - smack, ice etc. Many are now dead and many now have mental problems such as bipolar disorder and depression. Im my own experience I dont regret what I did in my youth because it really was an amazing thing to be part of but sadly the euphoric feelings that drugs give you leave you feeling like nothing else will ever be as good as that experience.
I often think to myself would I have preferred to be 18 in 1989 or now. Now they have the internet, playstations, Simon Cowell, X factor and Britains Got Talent. Then massive outdoor raves all night long. Thank god I was 18 then now. Must suck to be there now.
@CelticProgeny Yip. This is true. I first experienced rave in San Antonio, Ibiza (Star Club anyone?) in 1988. Next year it came to Britain and the scene exploded.
If I could erase those feelings from my brain I would because its now 22 years later and Im still craving that high. Drugs rewire your brain so that everything else except the drug experience is dull in comparison. It only takes one pill and youll never ever forget it and youll never ever be able to imagine life without those feelings. Its a doorway that you step through and theres no turning back.
As if there were two summer of loves and I missed both of them cuz I'm to young there needs to be a third and it would be even more awesome if it was a repeat of the first one.
wow i just noticed loads of rave tunes in this vid with vocal samples that have been reused in modern dnb and dubstep. lol. you can tell they were both influenced by early rave stuff
@glittapuss That high, like all other highs, comes from an inborn potentiality for having such a high. And it is possible to follow on that high, following the traces drug showed you. You are right, there is no way back into the dull everyday sleeping life, but there is still another way of life waiting for all of us. Heavenly kingdom here on earth. See you there...
me in 89...fucking horrible how generations change. People gave up on protesting everytime i take shrooms i realize how it meant the freedom for people back than, now everyone is fixated on a new phone or fucking ipod. or ISACK -ipad-
@Shitlikeroses i was born in 1972 and listened to the older ones talking about there summer of love in the 60s. but then the rave`s kicked off in the late 80s and fuck me i am so glad it did.people like me from a council estate in yorkshire, with no jobs and no future fell straight into it and it became our way of life for a few years. BUT the drug part of it took a toll on me and my mates and i will be honest a lot have died or ended up in prison.BUT THANK FUCK I WAS THERE
@FrancescaUK70 Judas Priest!! I remember I used to hate all that stuff when i was a kid! Whitesnake, Rainbow, Motorhead all that stuff..Now the kids are loving it
This generation are too obssesed with Celebrity, coke and possessions, oh and shit like xfactor to ever appreciate what we had in 1989.. they need to WAKE UP before its too late....
@fairlyfizzy Yes it is true. Some people can drink and have no problem, some can gamble, some can use drugs. But some will get addicted and end up rock bottom, thats a fact. It happened to my friends and it happened to me. What goes up must come down. Thats life. E may make you feel fabulous for a few hours but you will feel like shit after for 20 times as long. Experiment if you like, I did and I had a lot of fun but they will not bring you anything but suffering in the long run.
Too bad raves aren't that chill anymore. Too many wanna-be thugs and G's tryin to flex on everyone and start fights. Probably cause they all hopped up on pipes and speed instead of good old MDMA. R.I.P Rave Scene
A great year some of the best times of my life!!! i was 19 in 1989 and just discovering a wonderful substance called MDMA e...Fantastic, you had to have lived it to fully understand how good this era was!!
