It actually came from someone opening a not so well oiled trash can. The sound is obviously slowed down and with more reverb but that’s all there is to it
Reapers (and by extension the Leviathans) are, without a doubt, significantly more terrifying. The alien tripods couldn't even survive Earth's ecosystem and they were hiding in machines 😭

We have a judgement system, unfortunately though; to execute accordingly we need absolute power. When that power lacks, and when we are introduced to a new system of execution, we are filed with dread. This horn, is like an indicator, almost a proxy for that dread; but it has much more function to it: it is the sound of replacement, it announces that now what happens is controlled by something else, your fate is sealed. These facts travel like a shockwave in one's mind. One after another. The aforementioned context build by the individual is now shattered. Nothing makes sense now. And all will die feeling this terror. It is shared.
There are very few sounds on this Earth that make my skin crawl. That give me the heebie jeebies. That make me fear for my life. The first was the sound from the Fel Reavers from WoW. You'd be minding your own business, gather mats, while traversing the Hellfire Peninsula. When all of a sudden, you'd hear that horrid sound. You turn around, and the Fel Reaver was upon you. And then, there's this sound. The sound of the beings that eradicated the galaxy dozens, if not hundreds of times over, then disappear into dark space, only to re-emerge centuries later to do it again. Those sounds..... .....they scare me....
the ending where you control the reapers is the only ending i exept because 1 : i dont like destroying cool tech 2 : just having them leave is not very cool

First thing I thought when I heard the music was that it was like a modified version of the Reapers from Mass effect
Reaper 1: "Remember when we swapped Harbinger Jr's terror horn with an ooga horn just before his big day?"
Reaper 2: "Yeah, that was GREAT. Though I kinda miss having a job..."
Reminds me a lot of War of the Worlds. That's probably where it came from.
But without a doubt the Reapers are much more scary.

It's not a horn. It's a battle cry.
around 0:01 "Activating Power Lasers."
Favourite side of the soundboard.
They know neither cash money nor crypto currency, whatever those things are. Lost in space they are not.
I felt this sound loud at the back of my skull, I guess I'm indoctrinated by now :(
The video just doesn't convey how much louder it is in game.
Didn't the developers say this sound originally came from a broken trash compactor or garage door opener or something like that?
Не важно! Этот звук прекрасен
I really wish someone would make a custom car horn using this sound. I would be the first to buy it :))))
