When you see a 'guitar' with 4 strings/tuning pegs, that's usually the bass guitar. Conventional guitars usually have 6 strings/tuning pegs. Some guitars have 12 strings. The guy to the left, Maurice Gibb, is on electric bass guitar. Barry Gibb, to the right, is playing a 6 string electric guitar.
I think this is probably my favorite from the Bee Gees. I particularly like this one ("Jive Talkin'), "Nights on Broadway," and "Be Tender With My Love." Everybody knows the voices of Barry and Robin are key to the band, but IMO Maurice on bass is the secret weapon. As for the lyrics, she's just constantly talking smack, never saying anything real.
Maurice is playing bass. See the four keys on the top of the neck, on the headstock? Some basses have 6 strings, but more often, four. Also, you can tell by how he’s chording the bass guitar, and how he plucks the strings that it’s a bass. Guitars typically have 6 keys/strings.
When I was a child people used to call others "jive turkey" as sort of an insult. This was also a time when neighbors would socialize. In my "hood" that would be bbqs and hanging out in a backyard. I was about 6 during one of these gatherings and was running around with the boy next door, probably playing tag. Well he called me a "jive turkey". I have no idea where I heard this, but loudly, proudly and with such authority I replied, "Eat Me, Pilgrim!" I didn't even see my mom! But, her hand came flying out of nowhere, and with the accuracy of a sharpshooter made direct contact with my behind! I was so confused when she said "Young ladies do not speak like that!" I stayed confused until I was about 17 and then it all made sense!😅😅😅
Funny thing is when they wrote this it wasn’t supposed to be “jive talking” it was “drive talkin”! They didn’t know what “jive talkin” meant! They got the rhythm for this song by goin over a bridge every day. It was the sound that the car made goin over the bridge!
No it was never drive talking...“When they did ‘Jive Talkin’’ … they were talking about the rock and roll jive, the dance and Arif said, No its expression for bullshitting somebody. they originally had ‘Jive talkin’ you dance with your eyes’ so they had change lyrics but it was always jive talkin..❤
Ace, please try “Love You Inside and Out” by The Bee Gees - it very well may be my favorite by them. Love this reaction! You cracked me up multiple times. Hilarious sir!
Hello man, I'm not sure but I think the bass on this track is played mainly on a synthesizer (Mini Moog style) and not a bass guitar. The Rickenbacker bass that Maurice Gibb plays on the video clip is there for the image in this clip which is played in playback and not live. Even if this bass can trigger a synth through an effects pedal... I don't know. This is my point of view as a musician. Once again I love your reactions, always cheerful and smiling. Very nice. Thank you for being like this.
I wonder if you play bass guitar? You should learn how, if not. You have long fingers, you could be a good bass player! You’re never too old to learn. 😍👍
Maurice was the king of the bass line! He was the Music Director for their live shows. Underrated brother.
Maurice played bass,he was a very versatile, and talented musician.
Most bee gees songs bring out the smiles
I just love it when someone acknowledges that bass. it is the star of the show in this song...great reaction!!
❤My favorite Bee Gees song!!!
From one of my absolute favorite Bee Gees albums Main Course 1974
We're old ; but I believe we all know what nasty bass is.😂
You’re hysterical. Love watching your face. Sooo uptone, so cute
You could play it back, I wouldn’t get angry! 😍
That part Barry does on his guitar at the bridge he got from the sound the bridge he used to drive over sounded like.
That was Maurice playing the bass
Actually it's 2 bass sounds playing at same time..Mo (God he's sexy 😊 )and the synthesizer ❤..
Just a great funky song to move to! Enjoyed your reaction
I love the joy and surprised expression on your face everytime you react to another Bee Gees song ❤😂❤

The BeeGees had hits for over a decade before they whipped out their falsettos. Over 4 decades of hits.
Such a blast! "You should be dancing" is next for sure Ace
Fun reaction!
Check out Nights On Broadway.
Glad you had fun listening to this one. There's no excuse not to.
Disco Funk! Always loved how much of this song is played on the backbeat.

Your disco soul is showing Ace.
This is such a great song! I'm glad the days of hating disco are over. 💃🏽
That Bass is Nassssssty!!!!!😅
This song was written to the sound of the wheels on the train they took back and forth to, I believe to the studio. It was written in one night.
It was their car on a bridge to the studio.
@@LillyMarz777 Thank you I heard the train. Nice to know!
If you like this one do Nights on Broadway if you haven't done it yet. Another great one with some funky bass.
