Kwon's forehand is now one of my favorites on the tour
Wow what a match. So glad that Shapo pulled through as he has been working so hard. Congrats to him and hope he recovers well.
Wow…. Kwon may have lost the match, but he’s gained a fan in me. Such a clean pure ball striker. It’s a shame someone had to lose this match.
Agree, Such a great player!
Agreed! So well put, hope we see more of him!
I’m with you on that.
I was just going to type that very sentiment.
Look up some of Kwon's practice vids on RUclips, they're hella relaxing
Kwon's ball striking is so pure. Really enjoyable to watch
6:12 it really came down to this one decision huh? kwon wins that situation 9/10 times but shapo comes up with magic. if that break went through, i feel like kwon would have ridden that to the finish. but instead...
Agree. I thought he was going to rip his backhand.
@@cobrakaiX yeah, I feel like this usual mixup is down the line or cross court. players with good reflexes like shapo can make a 50:50 guess and if they guess right they can often handle the volley and win the point. I think kwon thought he'd be clever and get around that guessing game entirely with a lob, and he just barely didn't make it high enough.
yeah, he breaks there and it's definitely looking like he takes the fourth
@Matthew Park even on top of that, he mis-guessed after the lob too, he expected shapo to go with the slice rather than go flat
it could have been the turn of the game...
I've never seen kwon his the ball with this much pace so consistently before. dunno if this speaks to him improving his game, or if he just played the match of his life.
Tbh he's had matches going back a few years now when he's shown his power (see video on my channel). But his overall level is better now and he's learning to do it more in the big moments. He's got a lot of upside if he can just be more consistent. He has bad days which he needs to iron out.
Should Kwon have a good season this year, I think he’s worth being considered for Team World in the Laver Cup.
lets not go that far
Would have to be a REALLY good season.
Kwon could be #1 in the world and they would still pick Kyrgios.
Laver Cup is just exhibition stuff.
they had jack sock on the team 😆
Had Kwon put the ball full power right into Shapo's chest at 6:19, then I'm sure he would've won this match. Sometimes you gotta let go of fair play in order to win games.
Yes, I think they are friends off court, he was too nice here.
@@minhluu7208 coz Shapo's nice too. but that was my go to move too at that crucial point😀
Nishikori does that alot abd it's 95% effective😀
@@tootspogsforever5590 Japanese are good at cheap shots
@@trex1448 lol.. but he raises his hands afterward to gesture he's sorry!!😀
권순우님 너무 잘 하셨어요, you left everything on the court~ 계속 발전해 나가시는 모습이 팬으로서는 즐겁습니다~
Kwon is a great emerging player. I surely expect him to do great in matches this year.
Kwon fought hard and looked really good out there. But congrats to Shapo for hanging in there.
Kwon plays very well and i like his personality and calmness much more than his opponent
Kwon is amazing
Thanks AO TV!!!
Soonwoon just gained a lot of fans here including me!
Great match. Congrats Shapo, well fought.
I’ll be keeping an eye on you, Kwon
Even though Kwon lost this match, I'm sure it'll give him a lot of confidence in his ability to beat top players in the future. His level was amazing and I bet he learned a lot from this match alone.
Wish my left shoulder could take the beating that Shapo's can, great match!
Kwon hits so hard and clean for his size
he's 5'11" that's perhaps slightly under average height on tour but not a huge difference
What a game! Shame these two had to meet so early -this match is worth a semifinal indeed.
kwon played well enough to probably beat the majority of players in the second round. dennis really had to play exceptionally well and make some amazing shots
Kwon vinha bem na partida... seu jogo desmoronou no 5° set. Congrat, Shapovalov!!!
Same level... A little bit more experience of Shapo... Excelent match!
I had high hopes for Denis when he burst on the scene back in 2017 but he has the same problems that make it so damn tough to win a major . So far he has played 9 sets and 5 tie breaker sets in his first 2 matches . You have to win 7 matches and the last 2 are usually against elite killer type players and when you expend so much energy in these early rounds it always catches up with you. Go back and look at 95 % of the major champions and you will see that during those 7 matches they rolled to easy 3 set victories in at least 2 of them.
I agree. Obviously, Shapo need to improve his mental strength and could have save his energy for next rounds.
Totally agree when I first saw him I thought he looked like he could be a 5+ slam talent. But it’s just never come together. He’s still fun to watch, but I don’t see him winning one, unless post Nadal and joker they become more like pre fed days, or how the women’s is now with random p,Ayers picking up one in their career
@@Ineddiblehulk You put that perfectly. Look I can watch his one handed mid air back hand all day it's a thing of beauty but if it doesn't translate to winning it's just a pretty shot. I'll keep watching and holding out for a possible deep run but the Sinner's & the Alcaraz's of the world are about to surpass him if they haven't already.
@@JaypacsTheExplorer You're right. Look back at the now retired Lleyton Hewitt I don't think he had as much talent as Denis but mentally he was rock solid and managed to win 2 majors.
Kwon gave an excellent effort. Good match. Shapovalov pushed through.
Wow! Even tho Kwon lost, he definitely gained some fans from this game! Keep up the good work 👏 👍 💪
Shapoplavov is the token ‘fist pump after every won point’ guy lol
wow....what a match....go Dennis....
Kwon looks like he improved his ground strokes. Really competitive match. Congrats shap on the win.
Great job!
멋진 경기였어요! 두 선수 모두 대단했고, 권순우 선수의 앞날이 더욱 기대됩니다! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Go Shapo!!! Go Canada!!! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Wow. Great match! Kudos to Kwoon for giving Shapo a huge test
칭찬 일색이네요!! 요즘 잘 치신다는 소문 듣고 왔는데 역시 와우네요!! 더 좋은 활약 앞으로도 기대하겠습니다!!ㅎㅎ
It seems Kwon would reach top 20 at the end of 2022. Keep pace this way^^
너무 아쉽네요!! 권순우선수 화이팅입니다!!!!
Kwon is an up and Comer for sure great match
3:41 what a point from Shapo:)
That was a wicked volley from shapovalov. LMFAO 😂
I feel like at this level the players are nearly equally matched. It comes down to individual points and critical decision making. LMFAO 😂😂
Description says, "Extended highlights as Tomas Machac takes on Juan Manuel Cerundolo in the second round of the Australian Open 2021."
Kwon! look forward to seeing your winning play soon
Kwon SoonWoo ! Great job done !! moving forward
Go Shapo!!
Woooooooow, ya esperando los demás videos, saludos desde Playa del Carmen, México 😊😊😊😊
Beautiful place
@@marco_and_music yes it is!!! 😊
Shapo has the hands of gold
6:59, that was out?
tough angle from camera specifically. Probably out.
Great game. Kwon showed next level play against left hand player Shapo. Left hand player serve and stroke is very difficult to return, kwon was so close to win. Maybe next time…

Alguém do Brasil que curte tênis? 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Olha nós ae
Ótima partida alias, dois grandes jogadores
Opa! Shapovalov joga muito!
6:57 is that out?
Pls up load the Doubles also :((
bro what is the description
LMAO "Extended highlights as Tomas Machac takes on Juan Manuel Cerundolo in the second round of the Australian Open 2021."
Awesome game!
So many great matches in this open. High level.
What a match
I'm glad to see Kwon making progress despite a loss. I'm even happier that he finally cut his hair!!!
Shapo shank a lot of balls wish he would be more consistent.
galing nang dalawa
wtf was that sound at 2:38? some kind of bird?
Impressed by Shapovolov when I first saw him a few years back. Maybe I'm wrong but I feel like I could use his left handedness more to his advantage. I feel he could use some pointers from Rafael Nadal in this respect.
Shapo should be a great player if he becomes sucessful in developing basic attributes which are prerequisite to be a great...
Shapovalov could really use some footwork and movement coaching from Federer.
Still waiting for the Machac vs. Cerundolo highlights.
If it was a best of 3 match like women play in Grand Slams, Kwon would've been the victor. I like the best of 5 sets in major tournaments though, as it is a good differentiator at high level tennis.
Consistency, never give up
Spoiling the match by putting the winner as the thumbnail.
Shapoplavov is the token fist pump after after won point guy lol
I'm a Shapo fan, but I wouldn't mind if Kwon won this, he played great tenis
Dennis backhand truly handicaps him at time.
Congratulations denis
너무잘했는데 너무 아쉽다 ㅠㅠㅠ
Venga Shapo rival duro pero lo venciste
7:26 this is exactly why he lose. He is not experienced enough.
It hit the net and landed at his feet. That's not an easy shot at all.
@@antidepressantscale4675 I know, but it's exactly those certain shots were he came to short. The unexpected ones.
DENNIS THE MENACE!!!
It feels like shapo is not consistent and need more work
Kwon reminds me of Basilashvili
Let’s go!!!
I really wanted Kwon to win :/ so sad. Never been a fan of Shapovalov and his attitude on court tbh.
Kwon merecia ganhar.
ballspeed of this game is bonkers
Kwon played well but Denis, even with not his best tennis, hung in there... on Bigot Court Arena. Congrats!
Never seen a tennis player with Shapo skills be so inconsistent and struggle to win what should be a routine match
could have won in 4 sets but if you watched the whole match Kwon played a smart, grinding and persistent game. Could have upset Dennis too😀
Very sad that he chose lob in 4th set
Kwon played beautiful tennis, but Shapo threw his lead over and over. I feel like a lot of the younger generation have massive consistency problems compared to Fed, Nadal and Djokovic.
Like Keon topspin attack, he use brain to play. Kind of arts.
Is it me or his name does look like Sun Wukong?
WOW...
Asian Pride....
Shapo is a cold-chest.
empty seats lol. Time to move the AO somewhere elese
Is it me or his name does look like Sun Wukong
epic
Too much yelling after points won.
Yep, good point. They “burn” a lot of fuel that way, unnecessary.
Shapo's shouts are annoying as f.
K'won K'lost :') unfortunately , but he played a good game. also, the way shapovalov is screaming very loudly K'mon on basically every shot he win, looks so ugly and rude, i really dislike his attitude on court.
순우야 수비만 좀 더 연습하자
When K-Pop fans pretend to know tennis. 😅😅😅
careless and disrespectful
