The opponen had Ithilmar chariot which could have wrecked every single infantry that Heir had, if the HE player knew how to micro his chariot...but alas no :D
DahvPlays He totally ignored the most cost effective units in the Druchii roster- the Darkshards with Shields. Why take 1200 cost Executioners vs 1300 Swordmasters with a 50-50 chance of winning when you can do that with 2*650 Darkshards?
Situational. If you end up against a cold one player who has blowpipe skinks, they're going to wreck your shards and glassy units. I'm starting to believe, that chase units are even more important, than in the last game.
Hey Heir, It's not you, it is the click detection and attack orders themselves. CA has said they're looking into it. The other issue is with units stopping randomly their charge. If you look at the White Lions toward the end of the battle, they were charging your lines and then just start walking all of a sudden. I've experienced it in campaign and multi-player, hopefully they fix it soon.
So, I was running some tests on magic to see what has changed and discovered something. Miscasts used to cause you damage but the spell would still work. In this game you suffer damage and the spell fails entirely.
just like ppl said... misclicking, deslecting units and worst of all when units suddenly stop doing what you told them and they just stand there and you have to repeat the order but otherwise I love this game
I've also noticed if you're attacking a unit and that unit routes, your attacking units will just stop attacking and won't pursue the routing unit, sometimes
I'm experiencing the same thing with unit control. Unit selection not registering, attack and move orders falling off. Is rather annoying and seems like a bug.
Same here. In addition skirmish mode seems to have problems too. I've experienced some darkshards charging straight into enemy infantry and others trying to skirmish enemy archers lol
I think I've had the same issue as well in single player. Although I've noticed after a few battles in campaign that the game automatically puts archers type units on skirmish, which warhammer 1 doesn't do. Which is annoying when you are use to not using it.
Nice vid as always Heir. I've noticed that clicking on the unit models sometimes doesn't select the unit, but clicking the banner seems to work better for me
The black pearl of the dreadlord give immune to psicology in a 40m radius, it can be a good item against terror unit. Power of darkness can be used on the caster OR on an allied unit; in campaign i like to use it on the war hydra, so i can get power of darkness without too many problem. In campaign i also like to use the witch elf not only as a shock unit but even as a support one, using the rampage venom to keep in melee flying unit or shock cavalry.
Few things I learned while playing the DE campaign that might be useful for people : if you put your sorceress on a cold one, she will have rampage so be really careful with that. And soulstealer works a lot like flock of doom, the damage isn't actually better against a single target.
Power of Darkness is actually really handy since you can cast it on an ally unit as well. So target a Hydra that regenerates anyway, and your basically getting free Winds of Magic.
Really enjoying your content and new TW2 Warhammer Chronicle. In my opinion best TW game since Medieval 2. Could you do Faction Focus spotlight as you did in Rome 2?
Great video! It seems to me (I haven't played the game yet) that special units (like chariots, dinosaurs, dragon, etc.) reck high elves. Do they have a good answer to them? Of what I can see high elves seem to struggle in online multiplayer.
+HeirofCarthage Dark elves use repeater crossbows which shoot twice, so they would get 2 AP X 2 = 4 AP when you add in the bonus. Also note that high elves are the worst of the elves in range combat. So I don't know why their so many archers and sea guard beaning used.
High elves's archers cost is really low ( 475 gold ), remember that darkshard cost 600 and glade guards were 550. For the lothern see guard they cost indeed a lot but they are really good against most of the units used to fight ranged units ( they are mostly large, like cavalry, lord on mount and other big units like that ) so they aren't that easy to dispose of, but yeah high elves ranged units seems to deal less damage than the other but we need to really test that since accuracy isn't displayed on the units's datasheet, that kind of stat should be very usefull to know to estimate the strength of ranged units.
It's not just you Heir! I've noticed several times when I click on a unit, heard the audio feedback telling me I clicked on it, but somehow it still isn't selected. For a CA launch though, not the worst thing that could've happened.
In TWW1 sometimes attack orders would simply cease and your units would stand next to enemy units and do nothing. This seems to happen far more often in TWW2 Btw Heir, that immune to psychology item actually gives it in a 40m radius
You must love the wood elves so much. Very nice of bringing the chariots, units that I rarely used. They just almost took care high elves' archers single handed, something their most powerful units. You know their infantry are just no match of dark elves', especially they didn't even bring the greatswords. And I think Tyrion on foot is something that cost him the most. A melee heavy legen lord was just wasted without catching anyone. I guess he thought you were gonna bring Meliketh on foot, so then Tyrion can pin him down
I am playing asTyrion and have such a blast. I dont know if my build is right but so far I have managed to begin the ritual of Prophecy and my Tyrion is lvl 11 hero. My army core is lothern Sea Guards with 2 chevrons and Silver Helms with shields,Flamespyre phoenix and eagle claw bolt thrower for sieges. Sad thing is that I autoresolve 90% of my battles.
The power of darkness spell doesn't have to damage the caster. You can cast it on any friendly unit and it will damage that unit. It's useful if you use it on a unit that is pretty depleted anyway or some unit with very high health that you think can take the hit.
Also, should say that Doombolt is a homing missile because you can only target it directly on a unit (cannot be ground targeted) and it will always hit that unit directly no matter how much it moves around. Very good against dragons and other big monsters!
Juggernautdemon Really? Interesting. Well, that still requires much faster micro than dodging most bombardments. The point is that it is unit targeted and it comes down on that unit's position. For example, it never misses against the AI, while the AI does successfully dodge many other bombardment spells with much larger strike areas.
I noticed that on the campaign map and battle map clicking on unit flags doesn't select them. I am struggling on the campaign map selecting armies. The same works on the battle map but I use the unit cards. Maybe that is why you found it difficult to control units in the battle.
There is a click problem, it's been posted on the steam forums and elsewhere. Something about when a unit routes, and maybe even when it detaches from combat, any orders you gave to attack it drop off. Very frustrating.
I’ve had the same selection issue but more on the campaign map than battle map. There are a lot of things that don’t feel very smooth in that department...clicks just aren’t responsive.
Crack open da boyz with some cold ones! I've also been experiencing issues with clicking units, sometimes it doesn't register or they run off doing their own thing. Hopefully something they'll fix soon :-)
Witchy poah Katie perryed you..? Orion will be here soon.. the invasion less ica now norse later. the speed or flexibility of the dragon to gain an angle is appealing whist you can still left mouse angle attacks? the cross bolt range on the approach or after the breath double the fun.ya I think we broke the elf law.
Heir have you encountered the problem of dark elves being severely overpowered in campaign? Edit: how you also found very difficult to play skaven campaign in hard/very hard, it seems impossible to grow economy when food won't let you expand
Skaven kill everything.... I think. Also, there's usually some rogue factions you can go send to attack the enemy faction... at least that's what's supposed to happen.
Lizardmen are more elite than dark elves, Skaven can use more lords without losing all the money, just remember to not use all your food on uppgrading setelments. 38 clanrats are not bad. quantity is a quality all by itself. I have only played champaign so far, but it feels sort of balaced. high elf tyrion is the most boring (at last in the begining). My problem is that it seems easiser to win by destroing my opponents with intevention armies when they try rituals. I kind of hope they give us some sort of fast transport across the map. Magic gate/telport circel for the elves and lizardmen and underground railways for the skavens. I want to explore the whole map without having to spend 10+ turns just sailing.
Hey heir, there is a female (melee) dreadlord and a male (range) dreadlord. Why not call the female one drady? (dread+lady like glade+lady to make glady)
help pls. i want to buy this game but dont know if i have to get them both or just warhammer total war 2 and the faction and campaign from warhammer total war 1 will be adet at some point. pls help
Because in reality, an axe is a great resource efficient weapon. Much less metal needed for an axe head than a sword. And an axe blows through armor better than a sword, so the more primitive or anti armor units will use axes or axe variants like a halberd.
This video is a great demonstration of the tactical shallowness of the Warhammer TW games. Formations and army maneuver are unimportant, its more about army composition and micromanagement of the super fast flying and mounted units, and magic. Its less total war and more starcraft :-/
sickre yes army comp is much more importent in warhammer, but it doaent make it less tactical, xhoosing the right units, magic and micro managment cant exist without a good formaition, reserves and manuvering and as a total war fan since med1 and a guy who didnt wvwn know warhammer existed beforw warhammer one,i defiently bieve it has more tactical depth to it then most of the older titels
sickre Yeah right. I'm sure you were one of the people in favor of spaghetti lines weren't you? Lol. This game has an added mechanic called Magic. That's it. They used to have one in Rome 2 called Second Wind. It's a mechanic/ limitation. I'm pretty sure learning to deal with it is ALSO a part of battlefield training. And as far as army compositions go this was a terrible army on part of Dark Elves? No Darkshards to AP damage the Swordmasters/White Lions? Corsairs? Wtf are you gonna use non AP against elite inf that the High Elves are gonna bring. And lastly... no Malekith??? There are LOADS of combos available in Warhammer. Some of them HAVE been implemented here. Finding them out can be fun if you like
No one is fan of spaghetti lines, but also I don't like fate of bjuna, nets of amyntok, zombie spam, invocation of neheck, monsters which infantry can do nothing about other than getting charged to death, steam tanks, mortis engine....etc.
Those Cold One chariots are a nice unit. AP missiles, anti-infantry AP melee, they can get some good work done

So many Elves...hmm, we'll have to wait for the Dwarfs and humans to put them in their place.
Hero of Rome FOR SIGMAR
Sigmar's the best!
Hero of Rome I’m so excited for empire in tww2
Hero of Rome wanna play some time?
Hey Heir,
It's not you, it is the click detection and attack orders themselves. CA has said they're looking into it. The other issue is with units stopping randomly their charge. If you look at the White Lions toward the end of the battle, they were charging your lines and then just start walking all of a sudden. I've experienced it in campaign and multi-player, hopefully they fix it soon.
Very interesting replays with very good commentary! Thank you for posting tese.
I hope you also show your lost battles if ever they are interesting to watch. :)
So, I was running some tests on magic to see what has changed and discovered something. Miscasts used to cause you damage but the spell would still work. In this game you suffer damage and the spell fails entirely.
Really ? I haven't had the chance to buy part 2 yet but that is interesting.
Btw heir you're totally right about the missclicks. It doesn't register dragging the mouse sometimes. I noticed that too
Sometimes it will just deselect units on me, especially lords, and sometimes cavalry will just stop doing what you tell them to.
Same here !
Can confirm, I see this issue sometimes too.
just like ppl said... misclicking, deslecting units and worst of all when units suddenly stop doing what you told them and they just stand there and you have to repeat the order but otherwise I love this game
I've also noticed if you're attacking a unit and that unit routes, your attacking units will just stop attacking and won't pursue the routing unit, sometimes
you should start calling the dreadlord on a Dragon Dready
+99999
Nice! Would enjoy seeing a reverse match with you as the High Elves and how you'd approach silencing the Dark kind
mate you are gonna really struggle when the real wood elves are playing the "wood elves" :P
Skirmish mode has always been buggy.
the old bug was either it not working or it making the unit run into the corner the new one is even worse
I think I've had the same issue as well in single player. Although I've noticed after a few battles in campaign that the game automatically puts archers type units on skirmish, which warhammer 1 doesn't do. Which is annoying when you are use to not using it.
Orders falling off seems like a big issue especially when chasing
Some HE units need a buff asap. There is just no way some of those units get crushed so easily, especially if you look at their price.
Yes but only price wise, I play the best with High Elves online, they can do damage believe me. They should be a glass cannon besides Phoenix Guard.
Nice vid as always Heir. I've noticed that clicking on the unit models sometimes doesn't select the unit, but clicking the banner seems to work better for me
Those wood elves were Crazy Strong Hair! Haha
The black pearl of the dreadlord give immune to psicology in a 40m radius, it can be a good item against terror unit.

5 on 5!! Heir you re "on fire" with warhammer 2
Really enjoying your content and new TW2 Warhammer Chronicle. In my opinion best TW game since Medieval 2. Could you do Faction Focus spotlight as you did in Rome 2?
lol, Heir really wants the wood elves in War-Hammer 2 already
Heir is so exhausted of playing total war he cant even press the mouse hard enough anymore to select and move the units ;-)
Great video! It seems to me (I haven't played the game yet) that special units (like chariots, dinosaurs, dragon, etc.) reck high elves. Do they have a good answer to them? Of what I can see high elves seem to struggle in online multiplayer.

That dark sorceress needs to get on the witch elf workout regimen. She's got no abs!
It's not just you Heir! I've noticed several times when I click on a unit, heard the audio feedback telling me I clicked on it, but somehow it still isn't selected. For a CA launch though, not the worst thing that could've happened.

LOL i just watched a vid of his from 3 years ago and he sounds the exact same and the same intro as well
You must love the wood elves so much. Very nice of bringing the chariots, units that I rarely used. They just almost took care high elves' archers single handed, something their most powerful units. A melee heavy legen lord was just wasted without catching anyone. I guess he thought you were gonna bring Meliketh on foot, so then Tyrion can pin him down
I always bring teclis instead. The net and the firebird kills infantry terrifyingly
I can't even imagine what the game will look like by the end of the second expansion title
just as i was going to sleep lol
I am playing asTyrion and have such a blast. I dont know if my build is right but so far I have managed to begin the ritual of Prophecy and my Tyrion is lvl 11 hero. My army core is lothern Sea Guards with 2 chevrons and Silver Helms with shields,Flamespyre phoenix and eagle claw bolt thrower for sieges. Sad thing is that I autoresolve 90% of my battles.
The unit selection is wonky for me too. I think they might have changed the banner hit boxes or something.
The power of darkness spell doesn't have to damage the caster. You can cast it on any friendly unit and it will damage that unit. It's useful if you use it on a unit that is pretty depleted anyway or some unit with very high health that you think can take the hit.

Pinkerton00 It's easy dodge. Just move in an opposite direction as soon as it's coming down and it will hit right behind you.
Just a clarification, I meant moving in a different direction. The animation for turning around is too slow.
After watching this video i feel like playing wood elves again XD

Total TW multiplayer rookie, last TW I even attempted it was Shogun 2 :)
I’ve had the same selection issue but more on the campaign map than battle map. There are a lot of things that don’t feel very smooth in that department...clicks just aren’t responsive.
No question, Orion is the King in the Hood
Will you play Wood Elves again in FFA sometime soon?
I also agree, the clicking is weird
Crack open da boyz with some cold ones! I've also been experiencing issues with clicking units, sometimes it doesn't register or they run off doing their own thing. Hopefully something they'll fix soon :-)
Heir I'm new to total war any tips for me to get started will be greatly appreciated
Is it me or are the units moving a lot faster in this game compared to previous game?
I love the map name for this match
Witchy poah Katie perryed you..? Orion will be here soon.. the invasion less ica now norse later. the speed or flexibility of the dragon to gain an angle is appealing whist you can still left mouse angle attacks? the cross bolt range on the approach or after the breath double the fun.ya I think we broke the elf law.
another one
also it's not just you, there seems to be some issues with giving orders occasionally.
Yeah I've noticed that units often seem to 'forget' their orders. Particularly annoying when chasing down routing units.
yea but how do u stopped the chariots :)
Heir have you encountered the problem of dark elves being severely overpowered in campaign?
Edit: how you also found very difficult to play skaven campaign in hard/very hard, it seems impossible to grow economy when food won't let you expand
I had that issue, Dark elves + lizardmen just stomp everything its disgusting, they dont seem to have money issues either
Thats why you use intrigue and have them fight each other in early game a lot
Shawn Lu yea as high elves but what about when you are kroak or the skaven factions
Skaven kill everything.... I think. Also, there's usually some rogue factions you can go send to attack the enemy faction... at least that's what's supposed to happen.

Definitely not just you, I'm having the same misclick problem
Hey heir, there is a female (melee) dreadlord and a male (range) dreadlord. Why not call the female one drady? (dread+lady like glade+lady to make glady)
Who saw the europa unoversalis and thought it was new total warbgame 🤣
Morathi please.
MORE LIZARD FIGHTS REPLAYS pleease :*-(
Heir play as high elves
help pls. i want to buy this game but dont know if i have to get them both or just warhammer total war 2 and the faction and campaign from warhammer total war 1 will be adet at some point. pls help
deleteplz1 I dont have the game but i think you should get warhammer 2 cause i did hear they will add the warhammer 1 campaign to it.
Both can be played stand alone. If you want to play the eventual merging you need to own both games. For now start with TW 2 I would say
Why do 80 percent of the units in Warhammer use axe's??
Because in reality, an axe is a great resource efficient weapon. Much less metal needed for an axe head than a sword. And an axe blows through armor better than a sword, so the more primitive or anti armor units will use axes or axe variants like a halberd.
It's not just you; clicks are not always registering. It's really annoying.
click detection sucks, even in campaign it's obvious
All Elves on 1 map free for alll?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!!?!?
Then you should,no must add *Y.M.C.A soundtrack* ;)

TW hipster mindset:
micromanaging and remembering to switch formations: good
micromanaging and remembering to order movement: bad
