Gotta say man, you are one of my favorite new finds on RUclips. Been following you for a couple weeks now and the builds you discuss took me from fighting tooth and nail with a gr32 to being able to do a gf37 with a decent fight but feel I can push it to 40 with the right rift. Of course I switched back to playing my Monk again but still, its perfect for me. Super fast builds and on screen mayhem. Keep up the good work.
great video, but when you talk about greater rift scaling (6:15 min) your data isnt up to date anymore! since patch 2.1.2, from greater rift level 26 and onward, the monster deal only 10 % more dmg per level instead of the old 12.5%! it was even mentioned in the patch notes: "Monster damage in Greater Rifts level 26 and higher has been reduced". some people on reddit (or d3 forum) did the math and published the exact numbers!
The are likely to say, true, but not going to spend the effort to fix. One can hope they would fix it as it does have an impact for new toons in a new season.
I do appreciate the correlation you've gathered here, but mob health is only one consequence to the many rewards of playing torment. Not to mention you're rolling over your gems and learning the strategy of your character build. Personally, I prefer torment because enemies have more modifiers to keep you on your toes and keep the game feeling fresh.
When they first released the new difficulty system, I immediately realized the difference in the Expert mode. I believe the reason (unless it is just a typo) for it not fitting the trend is that when you're initially leveling, Expert would be the most efficient difficulty for the majority of the leveling process if it followed the trend. I believe that they intentionally tried to displace people from a single leveling difficulty by making them choose between an easy, slightly-too-fast-to-be-efficient, experience with Hard mode and a slightly-too-slow-to-be-efficient Master mode.
Can you do one of these for legendary drop chance relative to difficulty, and in general how magic find affects legendary drop chance? And in your opinion the most effective way to farm legendaries, most people say doing t6 rifts and only killing elite packs and continuing to the end of the rift after the boss is the fastest way =)
quin you are smart this is helping us console scrubs on the ps4 (we don't both have good computers) seriously I came from dark souls and was like "OOOOOH HARDER MODES GIT GUD" so to learn that I'm challenging myself somewhat pointlessly when i could be getting more experience faster in easier difficulties is a big help.
Well hell, I always leveled up new characters in Expert (despite the fact that the discrepancy in the numbers always bugged me as well). No more of that! D:
Ik this is kinda irrelevant to the video, Quin, but do you think The Fist of Az'Turrasq has any spot in current monk (season/nonseason) just for an EP build, like t6 farming, or do you think furnace/torch, is just all around better (used with the optimal build ofc.)
Very good guide, thank you. Never bothered to calculate the efficiency of each difficulties, this opened my eyes. Q: Does this still apply to the new torment levels in patch 2.3? Thanks!
i dunno if he mentioned this but if your able to live and kill in higher difficulty the xp boost is much much more efficient because the higher difficulty the more enemies so more xp
Great video guys.. I don't think blizzard made a mistake, look at it from a monetary kinda view, they are just aiming for the casual players as they don't farm and play for the fun of it.. difficulty in this game (at least for me) works as a method of making the game more interesting but most casuals will never step up past expert. Remember money is always a very important aspect. Also another aspect they took into consideration is how the economy in the game won't get over inflated with all the casuals getting more gold (as difficulty also affects the amount of gold you get) .. just my two cents!
I cannot get over the fact that to me the entire later ~half of the video sounds like they are talking abouth meth. "He's out of my league when it comes to Meth". I had this running in the back ground while reading emails and when they started saying math (meth) I was like "uwatmate??"
He talks about airy in another video and knickerless or knickerlace in another. He's on something. He's fun. He also thinks he be black. Straight up man.
This is super late. But holy cow thank you. I'm up to Torment 5 on my Crusader and your video helped me. I can probably get the same out of T2 or regular Torment. The experience gain for my Paragon levels doesnt seem to be faster either way.
But when you are at the point where you can kill monsters in T4 just as quickly as you can kill them in Normal mode (instantly killing everything), then it is just completely beneficial. You can't just do T6 and expect 10000% more experience and to hit Paragon 500 after killing 4 skeletons. That being said, expert mode is definitely a bit off with the exp ratio
So... basically don't go up a mode unless you spend most of your time running from one pack of mobs to the next, and stuff just melts in 3 seconds. With one exception: to complete a seasonal journey objective.
Would you comment on why, "i find many more interesting legendaries in expert mode, like the whitching hour and strong arm bracers" is that just my opinion? perhaps with the lack of xp increase, they incresed they leg % compared to hard and normal.
If 2 enemies are tagged with EP Essence Burn and die at the same time, does another enemy hit by both the explosions take twice the damage since it was hit by 2 EPs? Or does the second explosion just refresh the duration of the first explosion buff?
I flew though Hard mode on D3 in 1 day and currently flying through RoS. I really don't care too much about levels/hp/Atk bonus I only care for drops. Do you have a current model on drops for Legendaries/Sets vs difficulty levels? Why play normal if to only get crappy drops?
I actually used to lvl in Master all the time (sometimes even Torment if I got lucky with loot i.e. Furnace) with no real problem but it seems last 2 seasons (currently in Season 15) Blizzard have nerfed the XP or buffed the mobs, i really cant tell. Adn even Expert feels wrong so I just stick to Hard now.
Still the same XP bonus for Expert all these years later lol. Good video, though, and I really enjoyed the mathematical rational for why it should be 125% XP bonus vs 100%.
With the Taeguk gem, RCR beyond 6.6 makes stacking non-functional with sweeping Wind. Will the additional RCR on the Cindercoat effect our max RCR point?
So long as the most important thing to you is XP, I would agree with not moving up, till it is easy mode. If on the other hand, you are at least as interest in increased legendary items, then moving is worthwhile. Going to T2 from T1 gains increased odds of a legendary. Going from Master to T1 can yield legendary items, not availble at Master.
How does going up in torment mean relative to the legendary that will be dropped? Like are the legendary's better? or does it have no effect overall?? except the drop rate of legendary's?
As far i know the legendary are the same. Drop rate goes up tho for sure. Also you must be lvl 70 for some set items to drop. Here is more info if you need: www.diablowiki.net/Legendary
ImMannny Its RNG. You'll still get trashy legys with horrible rolls but since you're getting more of them, the chances of getting a good one are higher at T6 than T1. Also you'll get more ancient legendarys at higher torment levels. These can still roll shitty stats though. TL;DR - just farm in the most efficient difficulty.
ImMannny Well by saying they are the same i clearly meant stat wise aswell. But yea its RNG ..you can find a SUPER item on T1 and then go to T6 and find identical item with CRAP stats, only the drop rate changes. You know the link i gave also ansered your follow up question :P
Really love your advanced guides so far. I'm still puzzled about doing full clears or just to the guardian for rifts. Especially how that changes on a new character while going from T1 to T6. So far I switched to full clears (hunting blue/yellows and mostly skipping trash) as soon as I can destroy the given content. It feels worth it, even on the shards since you get the shard goblins from time to time. Is there even an actual answer to it?
Good thing I never bothered with expert mode. The first character gets to level on normal, hard, and then master or t1 and once I have my gem of ease at rank 25 and a hellfire ring all the other new characters get to start on t1 with a random lvl 70 weapon.
I dont 100% believe blizzard messed up with the Expert difficulty, I believe they made that outlier because for any new players who just bought and installed the game the only 3 difficulties they have are Normal, Hard and Expert. Most people go to either Normal or Hard however some people like the challenge of going to Expert without out-leveling the campaign content (which 125% would do). This is really my only reason to believe why blizzard would make Expert only 100%.
Im kind of crap at maths these days but seemed to be really good at algebra more than normal maths when I was a kid...go figure lol. But this was fascinating
So I'm fairly new to diablo 3 before I went to work I could change the difficult to hard, expert and master when I got In from work it went back to normal, hard and expect difficult ant way to change it back
I am on tournament 1 and it takes me like 5 or more minutes to kill the rift boss. And it takes forever to kill a normal boss and elites and all that stuff. I don't now what to do.
The only excuse, the only one, bliz is nerfing Expert mode xp gains to keep you from power leveling, because on your first playthrough you only have access to Normal, Hard, and Expert mode. If that's not the excuse, bliz needs to fix it.
The things I hate about this game. I love some other games where you must challenge yourself and play the hard content to even gain any decent exp or gain the best items. In D3 you just adjust the difficulty to be in the sweetspot.
basic functional studies :D forgot all about it, but Zack's right. exponential courbes we called it in french y=x+1 (a+b)^2= a^2+2ab+b^2 well you did more then basic algebra, you did a reverse functional study and draw back the formula - algebra = only was you hammer ( aka tool), the excell shets evne have some of the formula's predefined and recognize them ( basic ones), it's called macros - but GG's on your friend. had to do this "shit" often in chem lab physichs lab etc. - very logical, I hated it. guess why I'm a player and not a programmer :D programming = maths and logical thinking at it's highest.
a lot of p-leveling guides have you transition to master from hard in the beginning. If ur gonna move up the difficulty ladder it's more efficient to just skip expert. That's how bad expert is
My hardcore character died then other day....video on my channel. I waa set up to die. Was helping a friend get more loot. Had no follower. Cheat death popped up. Anyway... I made another one even though season starts soon and I'm leveling up solo and have noticed everything you are talking about with hard compared to expert.
doesnt master mevels, or torment, oddly diablo is different on every console it seems. kinda dumb for trying to look this crap up for PlayStation 3. but don't you get higher magic item find per master as it claims in the description when you choose a harder level in the game or is that mathematically messed up to?
Gotta say man, you are one of my favorite new finds on RUclips. sooo blizzard is just gonna be like: " nope, totally intentional, fuck your logic."
The are likely to say, true, but not going to spend the effort to fix. One can hope they would fix it as it does have an impact for new toons in a new season.
no no or they'll say "It will be adjusted in a future content patch" in the year 9000, when the rest of the human race no longer exists
Nice, I love your explanation videos especially with math.
yeah he is one of a kind eh? gg quin
Playing the game a while and still learn something new. Go to 5:16 and turn on captions for the secret
I would assume this is based on the fact there are no gems equipped
When they first released the new difficulty system, I immediately realized the difference in the Expert mode. hey Quinn69, is this still relevant to 2.3 and the upcoming 2.4 patch?
I love it when people can point out the mistakes from devs, keep up the good work ^^
quin you are smart
this is helping us console scrubs on the ps4 (we don't both have good computers)
seriously I came from dark souls and was like "OOOOOH HARDER MODES GIT GUD" so to learn that I'm challenging myself somewhat pointlessly when i could be getting more experience faster in easier difficulties is a big help.
keep making these vids Quin, your voice is a pleasure to listen to, u should do story telling or something like that
expert was meant to be a little lower on the xp to compansate for the double blood shards, so not an "error"
I'm gonna stay on Hard for leveling 1-70 for S2. Jump to T1 to farm sets once I crated/find a few legs.
Well hell, I always leveled up new characters in Expert (despite the fact that the discrepancy in the numbers always bugged me as well). No more of that! D:
I will never leave normal mode again. Thank you, Quin.
Breaking it down to the point that anyone can understand it, I've come to expect nothing less. Great work! Shout out to Quin68 (Zac) brilliant M8!
this completely changed how I choose to progress in this game. Everybody wants to make money fast :)
has this been updated/changed by blizzard in the last two years ???
Ik this is kinda irrelevant to the video, Quin, but do you think The Fist of Az'Turrasq has any spot in current monk (season/nonseason) just for an EP build, like t6 farming, or do you think furnace/torch, is just all around better (used with the optimal build ofc.)

He talks about airy in another video and knickerless or knickerlace in another.
He's on something. He's fun.
He also thinks he be black. Straight up man.
If you haven't beaten Act IV, the highest difficulty you can access is Expert. So the XP/HP ratio for Expert might have been intended.
QuinC , the Einstein of Diablo 3
This is super late. But holy cow thank you. I'm up to Torment 5 on my Crusader and your video helped me. I can probably get the same out of T2 or regular Torment. The experience gain for my Paragon levels doesnt seem to be faster either way.

That's exactly what he said.
Dayum ur content is crazy helpful m8!
Apparently, someone at blizzard disliked this video.
Can you make a quick video on a templar setup plz?
Does this still apply to the current patch?
+OkatonGF It does except for the grift chart and the missing t7 - t10 values, but i guess you could look that up
So... basically don't go up a mode unless you spend most of your time running from one pack of mobs to the next, and stuff just melts in 3 seconds. With one exception: to complete a seasonal journey objective.
Great job I like what you've done here, helpful for everyone. Keep on

Now for the more technical question: If X=Y+ (CHD*CHC)(elite dmg)(elemental dmg), then one has to question how do you ride an alpacas?
What are the percentages of magic find increase?
Did you notice they nerfed the Talk to Alaric quest? Great guide btw!
he was doin leveling runs without the alaric quest yesterday, so i guess he did
prochax Aha okey.
Lol Math dude at the ends like "and I'm out bitches"

I hope he will make an effieciency similar to this one explaining the change in legendary items drop rate in comparison to monster health
superghost6 efficiency video*
Agreed! Please address efficiency of loot as well
tnx man u helped me out alot
I like to push myself to the harder difficulties for the better loot more than the experience and gold though

Great vid Quin, but I'd suggest getting some tips from Zach if you want to get on his level. Zach is potentially Jay Wilson.

Spirit generators gonna make a comeback?

At around 10 mins, instead of 70%, it should actually be just about 73.4% which means the 63 was then just a small mistake, off by one number.
Im kind of crap at maths these days but seemed to be really good at algebra more than normal maths when I was a kid...go figure lol. But this was fascinating
I love math. Feels like we found blizzard in a conspiracy.
Great vid guys from u.s.a
How about the drops though
So if there's still anyone in the comments, which difficulty should i start with if i am an arpg noob
More Quin68 please!
whats sad is that i cant find any good gear to make me ascend into torment difficulty
good video breakdown.
What about the Legendary drop ratio?
***** Awesome. keep up the good work!
So I'm fairly new to diablo 3 before I went to work I could change the difficult to hard, expert and master when I got In from work it went back to normal, hard and expect difficult ant way to change it back
This is a great video, thanks.
If you can't clear a big pack in less than 2 seconds, don't move up.
I am on tournament 1 and it takes me like 5 or more minutes to kill the rift boss. And it takes forever to kill a normal boss and elites and all that stuff. I don't now what to do.
The Flame Blast879 your gear must be all kinds of fucked up if you can't do t1 even with a fresh level 70
Someone is a genius....
amazing help thank you mate!
Legendary drop chances not included in the calculation it seems... And to be fair I prefer having some challenge. It sucks just steamrolling through.
whats your pup's name?
The only excuse, the only one, bliz is nerfing Expert mode xp gains to keep you from power leveling, because on your first playthrough you only have access to Normal, Hard, and Expert mode. If that's not the excuse, bliz needs to fix it.

when I started playing diablo 3, I went from normal to expert because it was to easy on normal (and its still to easy)
How to get all Difficulty in Diablo lll Reaper of Souls and what level i must be to unlock all difficulty ?

Good information - Thanks.
Is this still relevant? I notice now it goes to torment 13. Just wondering. Im eating this up though.
Helps alot thanks
Upvoted for math
did they ever fix this?
+Sherman Herritt Who is Jay Wilson? (I am serious)
+Moritz H nvm
dude looks like a priest of rathmar
"Get on my f***** maths, mate!"
-Quin68
i think they fixed the expert bug on the ps4,
My buddies and I play torment because its boring to wipe mobs in seconds. Whats the point of playing a game if you aren't challenged?
My hardcore character died then other day....video on my channel. I waa set up to die. Was helping a friend get more loot. Had no follower. Cheat death popped up.
Anyway... I made another one even though season starts soon and I'm leveling up solo and have noticed everything you are talking about with hard compared to expert.
Because I play on Xbox 360 I can't play greater rifts and than I almost don't get legendaries
lol spin around "quin 68 here", hahaha gg
Not so useful today, but nice to see it. ^_^
yeah i get it, clear as mud ;-)
u carr that advanced math?
I followed you a few days ago and you haven't been showing up. :(
Just use mods and play on T13.
How is this suddenly showed up in my suggested lol
doesnt master mevels, or torment, oddly diablo is different on every console it seems. kinda dumb for trying to look this crap up for PlayStation 3. but don't you get higher magic item find per master as it claims in the description when you choose a harder level in the game or is that mathematically messed up to?
