am so happy to see Mel Gibson back. The last 10 years without Mel on the big screen seemed very poor. Its a travesty that he was blacklisted for saying those stupid commets while he was druck. Also he never hurted anybody unlike others, yes am talking to you Roman Polanski.
I'm a Jew and I forgave Gibson for doing something many people are capable of but often won't admit they would Wasn't so thrilled with Hacksaw Ridge but it kind of played out like a graphic novel to me so I think this man would deliver not only a sequel that would put, from what I've heard of it, Ayer's original SS to shame, but possibly one of the best comic book based films ever!
its nice and actually quite surprising seeing mel gibson back in his element especially after all the drama surrounding him in the last few years. he came back like so many other actors and celebrities. he nailed hackshaw ridge, it was an epic, emotional and imo best movie of the year. glad he got one more oscar nomination, man knows how to direct and act. i would be so thrilled and happy if he gets to direct suicide squad 2, it would be such a huge win for wb/dc. that would make ss2 a whole lot better as a sequel which will hopefully come out of a movie that a lot of people didnt like, i did even though i admit it has its flaws.
If that movie gets made by Mel, there will be brain matter on the floors of theaters.

Sad that this never came to be. Apparently it was cause WB couldn't find a writer for the movie and delayed filming, at which point Gibson became uninterested. Sad, he could've done something amazing. Not saying that Gunn didn't do a good job but I would've liked to see what Gibson would've done.
He bashed BvS and other comic book films. He also said that he would never direct a comic book film. I doubt Gibson would direct Suicide Squad 2.
SS2 is a super villain movie though.

I love BvS, but can admit that its a terrible film. Gibson could fix the current rut comicbook movies are in
dv2244 BvS Ultimate cut was good, but still has some flaws though. I don't know if Gibson can it make better. He doesn't look like a comic book fan. He probably won't follow the source material, if he direct Suicide Squad 2. I think Gibson would accept if WB give him a deal where he has creative control over the film.
He shouldn't do it. He's too good of a director to make a sequel to somebody else's film (although he'd be my top pick to continue Mad Max if Miller were unable) and his style doesn't really lend itself to the PG-13 rating they'd undoubtedly demand. I'm sure they could find a spot for him in the cast if he's not too busy, though.

I hope he directs SS2. The controversy surrounding the film will be yuuugee and will increase tickets sales. I love SS and I believe Mel will make a great sequel.
I'm from the future where James Gunn ended up doing it and turned in a decent 7/10 kind of movie. But even though that movie was good I wish Gibson would've stuck to it.

@@ectoplasmicentity I think that the movie's got issues but two of them stick out the most to me:
1 ) the Humor. It's a very mixed back in this movie. SOME of the jokes are funny like when the Squad unknowingly kill a bunch of freedom fighters, but for the most part it's these very dragged out MCU-style interactions and quips that get old REAL fast. And this wouldn't be so bad if the humor popped up once and a while, but like Thor Ragnarok it's REALLY overused.
2 ). The villain. In a shocking twist, James Gunn actually repeated the exact same problem as David Ayer did with his choice of villain in the first SS: the villain is way too big for a movie like this. The Suicide Squad is supposed to be a group that goes after the people that are specifically targeted by the US government, that stay under the radar from the Justice League since that team goes after real big threats to the world. Starro is appropriate as a JUSTICE LEAGUE villain, NOT for the suicide squad. And like Enchantress, because Starro does so much damage and is so powerful that he's a danger to the entire world, it causes a BIG plot hole: where's the Justice League and/or other heroes? Are you going to have me believe that while this giant alien starfish is destroying a city and is televised on the news, that people like Billy Batson and his family, as well as people like Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, etc are just clueless to this happening? I'd maybe be fine with Starro as the villain if he was made to be the "puppet master in the shadows" where he manipulated the general of Corto Maltese to do his bidding from within his prison (a la Wilson Fisk in daredevil S3), but unfortunately James Gunn just HAD to get his big over the top climax, even if it makes no sense.
Again, don't hate the movie, but I'm 80% sure Gibson would've done a better job.

Brilliant piece of business if it happens, a movie about villains directed by someone made out to be a villain in hollywood, I could see it being a smash hit with mel directing

Mel Gibson has the reputation of being a great director, why would he touch Suicide Squad ? Sure, you can't do worst than the first scriptless movie but I think he can pick better material. Unless he's involved in the early script writing process too then maybe he can make something good of it. But I think he'd be better at doing a new Batman or Superman.
Mel should start directing dc movies , its time DC comics got a professional director..

lol at all these people thinking there is no way he will direct Squad 2. If there was no chance of it happening, then he would have just flat out said no and we wouldnt be here talking about this. Its perfectly plausible to think that he might do it. And if he does it, its not going to be at all like the first movie. There is a much greater chance of it being the proper gritty grounded and possibly R rated Suicide Squad movie that we wanted. The whole asethetic of the first movie will likely be retconned. None of the weird LSD crap and the emphasis on being overly edgy and hot topic gangsta or whatever the fuck. There is a reason WB is trying to court this guy into directing Squad 2. Look suicide squad is a fucking BADASS concept. Its unfortunate the first movie butchered how cool suicide squad is so badly because now people ahve the wrong idea of what suicide squad is all about. If mel does Squad 2, I think we will be in for a proper movie. He never said that he hated comic books, he just doesnt like the way comic book movies operate. He thinks they use too much money. That they should try to use a lower budget. I think getting the guy that thinks BvS is a piece of shit to direct a DC movie honestly a sound strategy. WB is clearly trying to go a different route with the DCEU
