The old man constantly saying “sir” made me happy, you can tell he wanted to come off as respectful and professional whenever he dealt with a customer, whereas with everyone else he could make fun of them & care less lmao
It becomes far more awkward than respectful when you overdo it as he did

Lol the one thing about the old man, he never acts like he wants any particular item too bad. He's got the "meh I'll take it for the right price but you can take it back with you all the same" attitude. Rick's been known to go fanboy on different items

I'm guessing most of the "expert's" appraisals come in at a figure, full-knowing that they are the most likely buyer from the pawn shop, so they compromise they're accuracy on the appraisal.

Johnny is full of it. I work in the stuffed toy business and 16" limited-edition Steiff bears go for $300 and up. Collectors have whole rooms devoted to their hobby and would not only make room for that bear they'd happily pay thousands for it
Less than 1.5 feet tall is a far cry from what appears to be pushing 6 foot.

It's hard to sell an expensive item that huge because the pool of collectors with a large enough space in their display room/area is small
They're told to take 10%-20% off of actual value so the shop can get a good deal and make the customer feel like they got a good deal
@@cryptidproductions3160 I think it's more of a concern for the shop than potential buyers. You know who make up a large portion of Steiff collectors? Little old ladies with money, and empty nest syndrome

The bear was a LOT older than 30 years and certainly worth a lot more just through rarity and scarcity alone. The "expert" in this one clearly had only rudimentary basic knowledge of what he was looking at. I hope this guy finds the right market for his bear and nets what it is actually worth.
$1,000 offer out of a $1,500-$2,000 appraisal isn’t too bad. Seems like the old man loves Steiff bears.

5:03 That's a veteran dealer. He knows you don't do much with these things besides look at them, then sell them to someone else who wants to look at it or have other people look at it. Eventually if you keep it yourself, it stops being special and you just get tired of looking at it. That's why people get rid of a lot of family heirlooms after awhile.
