@Bert Clayton I'm from south Arkansas, imagine pickin okra out in that heat! But it was fun;for 12 years we raised a garden and helped feed ourselves(and others; we always grew too much),and it was hard work but we loved it. That's one thing I DO miss about living down south.
I think it is different when there is no purpose to the job. Doing hard work in the blistering heat to grow crops is one thing. Doing the same for no reason it just takes any feeling of purpose and gratification, that is really the aspect that makes it unbearable. If you are someone who can ignore the pointlessness that probably makes it much easier, but I know that would be near impossible for me.
I got 2 commericals while watching this video! Youre MONETIZED!! That is SOOO awesome!!!! Happy for u, youve trippled in subs since ive subscribed to u!
I will never forget this story about a prison. I believe it was in West Virginia but I can’t remember which prison. Anyways early 1900’s like 30s-40s. It’s was one of the biggest prison riots in American history. The United States military even had to step in to end it. They shot a bazooka at a guards tower in hopes of killing the leader of the riot but in the end he took his own life with a shot gun. NOW ONTO THE ACTUAL STORY the wardens wife worked as a secretary in the prison. Apparently she was like the SWEETEST woman to the men in the prison. Treated them like actual people with kindness. As soon as the riot starts a group of 10+ prisoners walks into the office shes in and they told her straight up what’s going. They told her right to her face “You’re the wardens wife they are going to do horrible things to you. We need to get you out of here”. The group of prisoners then makes a human shield around her and walk her to the front of the prison. They didn’t let a single thing happen to her. He husband was killed in the riot by prisoners. She said after it all happened “without a doubt those men saved my life. They saved me from a horrible death.”
I am a WV native. Couple counties down from the Penitentiary & this happened there. It is now open for tours. You can stay overnight and it’s really scary lol. It’s just eerie. Really fun experience though if you live close enough to make the trip in one day. I’ve lived in Alabama for a couple of years now and now instead of horror stories about the penitentiary in Moundville, it’s horror stories about Bryce Hospital here in Tuscaloosa for the mentally insane. They’ve moved most patients to the new facility on University Blvd near U of A so you drive by and see them outside and it’s almost like a prison type thing. It’s sad. There are far less patients there now than there was (used to be 5,200 involuntarily committed that didn’t leave until they died sadly) but, the penitentiary will be talked about forever I think lol. They opened one in its place and it is called MT Olive. Not much better lol. I’ve had three family members serve time there and only one has walked away unscathed lol. One died and the other lost one of his eyes in a fight lol. Those people are wild.
One of the best feelings in the world is achieving what people said you couldn’t do. Obviously I don’t know you personally, but I’m happy you succeeded. I’m happy you beat the odds.
This was an incredibly inspirational story, Jessica! That put tears in my eyes when you said you jumped up and you were first that morning. You should be an inspiration for all women, to show that no matter WHAT you can achieve your goals! 💓 you!
When I was 16 I had to do 3 weeks in a juvenile facility in KY and they made us wake up at 6 am and use a shovel to fill up a wheelbarrow with rocks on one side of a field and push the wheelbarrow to the other side of the field and dump it, all day. No one was allowed to use gloves and if your shovel broke you had to keep using it.The next day we’d do the same thing except we’d move the rocks back to the original side. I think the point was pointless physical labor. Maybe psychological punishment too, I felt like nothing I did mattered, gets to you after a while!
Yah so I found you like a week ago, and consequently I found Christina as well, and I can’t stop listening to both of you. So interesting, the experiences, and so inspiring. I could listen to you for hours! I agree that Prison shouldn’t be cruel and unusual punishment. Prison sounds disgusting and no place for any human. Thank you for sharing so many of your experiences.
Never been so early for videos as I am for Jess'. So thankful I found your channel! Been binging it while studying for finals and trying to stay sober. So so much love for you Jess you are a huge inspiration to me
"do what they say you can't and take pictures" I fucking love that, there is no way more satisfying and fulfilling to get back at people hating on you than to make them jealous and have to eat their words. Good on you
I love this truth.. God its refreshing.. hate hiding in plain sight. Which was how I felt.. sober 4yrs but 1st 3yrs was slow, hard, emotional.. different.. now I'm proud of where I am.. takes time , like all great things worth waiting for. Xx

Girl...”working” in prison is the worst! They treat you like absolute crap! When I came out of the hole I “worked” on yard duty....in the winter in New England. They woke us up at 3am to shovel the WHOLE prison yard! We shoveled the grass, the sidewalks, stairs, everything! When I got classed, I worked in the kitchen, which wasn’t bad cus we got extra “food”.
That sounds awful. In my short time inside I did some dorm cleaning and snap the kitchen too. We had the option of getting outside the walls by cleaning up trash in a local shopping mall but I didn't fancy the possibility of mabe people IA knew seeing me in my stylish prison duds "err slight career change,,)

Go Jess, go!!! I went on a long vacation over the weekend and you have like double the followers you had when I left! You make good content, you’re a great storyteller, and an inspiration to “recovered” addicts like myself and those still struggling, as well as those who’ve been in jail and are trying to keep on the straight and narrow. Keep it up! I loveeeee watching your videos and hope you keep producing content! Also SO happy to see you’re monetized now, you definitely deserve it because you’ve got great stories with value to share!
I found your RUclips account today and I’m glad I did, you are so inspirational and open to your followers. I’m glad you have worked out your life since prison
I love everything about this whole story 😂😂😂 Especially your crazy prison personality ❤️Actually while reading my comment prior to sending, I realized there are many things in this story I dislike actually. Having your daughter there, all that emotional pain, inhumane treatment, etc. I just loved the underlying theme of your strength & how you handled it!
Loved the additions to the story! I too would be EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED if I was digging useless holes in the ground. It’s so interesting that that’s even a thing! Why!?! Have a wonderful weekend Jess. 💜
Your videos are so entertaining, so inspiring, so eloquent and informational. Everything about you, your story, and why you share your experiences with us is so genuine. I respect you so much!!! I'm so happy to see your channel growing so fast.
I have so much respect for you. I love your stories, it's great learning more about what really goes on in prison. I'm so happy that you're sharing your story. ❤️
I truly admire your tenacity and your drive! Thanks so much for sharing your amazing stories. I think its great what you are doing ❤ it has to be hard at times to put yourself so out there but I appreciate 🙏 it. As a formal addict myself I can't tell you enough how important it is what you are doing . Thank you from the bottom of my heart!! Keep up the awesome work.
I’m having a bad day. Nowhere near as your bad days that you talk about on your channel, so maybe I shouldn’t be bawling as I write this. I just wanted to say thanks. Your story gave me some kind of strength to cry it out and get it together. You’re the queen of keeping it together. I learn so much from you. I love you and your stories. I could listen to you all day long just to take a little of your resilience and try to make it my own.
When I was locked in county road crew was the job to get. You’re outside all day and not spinning your wheels in a cell. They have all the cigarettes as well. They would tell their family where they were working and they would stash cartons and they would get them.
I mean. Southern prisons still sound 100 years behind modernity. IMHO. Prison reform is so needed. Love tour channel and stories sharing your experience strength and hope! Xxoo
You are so good at relating your stories and what goes on there. So glad you decided to make a RUclips channel. Sounds weird maybe but my way of supporting a channel I like is by watching the ads all the way through instead of skipping. I actually think you should put more ads on your videos. Your videos help a lot of people. I'm fighting my addiction as well and one thing that helps me at least is my fear of jail and prison. So hearing how things go down just reinforces my fear of ending up there. I'm not scared straight, but I'm aware of the realities that can come from drug use.
Do what they say you can't do then take pictures 🤣 I love it!!! So with the moral of your story I'll share mine. My so called boyfriend of yes..10 years...told me I was fat and get this.. disgusting! I was called DISGUSTING! I look like my pic but got a bit of a beer belly. I'm 52 and a size 2!! I joined the gym and work out THAT MUCH HARDER thinking of the word disgusting! Like..' oh yeah motherfu*ker ' and yes girl I will be taking pics...lots of pics!! Love you Jessica 💓
I love you and all of your positive energy! Your awesome xoxoxoxox saying a prayer you grow your channel so more people can hear what you have to share
There was a great line in an early episode of "Law & Order" in which the prosecutor tells the jury: "In 6,000 years of human history prison has never accomplished anything. But, it's all we've got."
I refilmed this story because in my 1st one I left out A LOT of details 🙂 Hope you all enjoy!! 💟
I thought i was crazy

Is that the WV Penitentiary in Moundsville? 1986? It closed down? That's the only I had heard of, sounds similar

I mean. Southern prisons still sound 100 years behind modernity. IMHO. Prison reform is so needed. Love tour channel and stories sharing your experience strength and hope! Xxoo

Yes. I refilmed bc i left stuff out lol
👍👍another good video and love that jacket :-)
You are so good at relating your stories and what goes on there. So glad you decided to make a RUclips channel. Sounds weird maybe but my way of supporting a channel I like is by watching the ads all the way through instead of skipping. I actually think you should put more ads on your videos. Your videos help a lot of people. I'm fighting my addiction as well and one thing that helps me at least is my fear of jail and prison. So hearing how things go down just reinforces my fear of ending up there. I'm not scared straight, but I'm aware of the realities that can come from drug use.
You filled in many of the blanks from your earlier video. Nice work, Jess. 😷👍 #546.
50k on our way 🙏 lets gooooooo jess!
Stay safe, stay sober, be patient. Your really strong, dont ever let yourself break down 👍👍
Do what they say you can't do then take pictures 🤣 I love it!!!
You are in prison to serve your time and consequence not to be abused more. I agree. Prison reform needs to occur...
This sounds so awful! I can't believe they make people do stuff like this.
