This song changed how I though about music. First heard it in 1995 on a cassette mix tape my friend gave me in 9th grade. Fucking epic.

The first two minutes of this song are the best part of this whole album. I'm reminded a bit of Rush's "Before and After"- the lovely intro. Cor-crane is good but Today's Active Lifestyles is Polvo's best.
Rush always had elements of proto-mathrock, or vice-versa -- mathrock owes a lot to prog noodling and jazzy structures. Check out the main progression in Fountain of Lamneth, so mathrocky.

Playing Shapes on vinyl on the console stereo I had the day it came out is one of my best memories. So high, middle of the couch, smart cells were for the rich, but I was richer right then.

Saw Polvo support Babes in Toyland in Edinburgh long long time ago. Good band.
This is the longest shot but I was trying to find a band from Edinburgh called paravion with Steve a Knight on bass. They cited polvo sofa sonic youth as influences. They were my musical nirvana but lost to the MySpace dark abyss (or I don't know how to work the MySpace player). If you know anything please let me know.

It's crazy that ash bowie is embarrassed by writing these lyrics and certain guitar parts to these early albums these are vaguely beautiful lyrics and the guitar on this track is groundbreaking.
