- We caught word of a secret cabin in the backcountry on Vancouver Island. Naturally we had to take our SAS'd Toyota pickup on a wheeling adventure to try and find it. We encountered a series of obstacles that got increasingly difficult until we reached on that was either going to ruin the truck, and our day by leaving us stranded, or it was going to lead to the cabin.

Yo, that was one of the best 4x4 adventure video I saw. super inspiring ! also freakin jealous that your girl is following you in those kind of adventure. I just got my toyota a few months ago. getting my first 4x4 trip in a week or so ! thanks for sharing, if one day you come to south africa let me know ! you seems super cool, I own a lodge in the mountain and there a few nice 4x4 track around ! peace
Hey Anthony, glad you found us! Stacey and I make a great team, it wouldn't be possible without her. Damn we both would love to go to Africa one day, so there's a very good chance we could take you up on that!
@@ToyotaWorldRunners my lodge is : www.nimalodge.com/
you can just contact me directly the day you want to organize your trip !
The side load you put on that Shackel and hook was dangerously impressive.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the sheer strength of a 7/8th D ring and hook must be over 50,000lbs
If pulled straight its super strong but pulled at an angle it is far far less. Luckily your truck is not heavy and it wasn't swamped adding to the weight There are a few videos on YT showing them fail also I recommend watching Ronny Dahl's Winch video.
Finally a "real" off-road trail and a real old Toyota still getting in done! Sweet rig man
Cheers man, thank you!
Dirt garage also has some good Toyota videos.
The scenery that makes me speechless.
Your driving skills that make me speechless.
You're incredible!
Thank you!
I've had a grin on my face the whole time watching this! My hobby is backroad exploring around Vancouver Island too. I just have a Jeep Patriot though so don't get quite as adventurous as you do....LOL. It's so amazing that you have each other to share these adventures with - it's rare to find someone that is comfortable with being uncomfortable.....
Seek discomfort! haha. Thanks for coming along on the adventures, so to speak!
Excellent video, great four wheeling, outstanding film work.
Thanks Joe!
What an absolute beast of a truck. These old Toyotas are amazing platforms, all Toyota trucks are but something magical and charming about these old little Toyota trucks.
Thanks Andy, we totally agree!
Absolutely love yalls channel! You have inspired me to pursue my dream of overlanding, I'm headed on a 6 hour drive tomorrow to pick up my first 80's Toyota pickup. 🤞Keep up the great work!
Finding those spots is the Absolute Best!
Agreed! 😎🤙
What an awesome adventure!
Not only the adventure itself, but the production quality of the video itself is just next level. The voiceovers, the editing and, of course, the huge effort that all those shots form outside of the vehicle must have taken.
I subbed instantly, what a gem has been finding this video 🤘
Thank you very much!!
Reminds me of how we wheeled growing up! Good times!
Can’t believe how much getting out the whip and filming your girl does! Props to her
She's the real MVP
That's some good exploring! Keep it up, love the channel
Nothing I’d rather go adventuring in than a toyota pickup they are the best little trucks 👌🏻
You and me both 🤙😎
Only a Yota or a Suzuki Samurai for this quad trail. Good driving. Fun to watch.
Really appreciate that poppy on your sweater 👍
I just found you channel and really enjoyed the video. We're from the mountains of western NC, so not a lot of snow, but some fair off-roading. I just sold a flat-deck, single cab 1988 4x4 Yota for an upgrade to a access cab Gen1 4x4. I love the new truck with more comfort features and the 3.4, but seeing this sure makes me miss my old trusted 22re pickup. I've got to check out more of your vids.
Hey Phil, glad you found us! Sounds like you know your yotas. Stick around, we've got lots more to come!
Awesome video! Beautiful camping spot
That pond of water is intimidating if you haven’t gone through it in the winter before. The boulder got my rocker the first time. Loved that you continued to pursue it though and great filming.
Love seeing an offroad channel running super swamper tires
Great video. Love the truck!
Very nice to watch!!
I subscribed as soon as I saw your truck is a every man’s build I like watching $100k rigs off road but they should be able to make it watching your heart and soul build is just Awesome! 🇨🇦
Thank you man! We definitely put a lot of blood sweat and tear into these old trucks.
Amazing! Cheers from Chile, proud owner of a 95 hilux 22re.
The Outro had me laughing pretty good. 🤣
Pretty sweet trail - the wife and I grew up on the island - love that area, just sorry to see so many gates put up over the last few years…..
Just subbed, great content. Big shout out to your co driver getting the good footage!
Thanks for joining the TWR fam! Yup, Stacey is pure gold, wouldn't be possible without her!
Well done video. I get out into those mountains quite often but I'm never that adventurous. Koodos.
Glad you enjoyed it!
OH MAN!! I can't wait until the snow gets like... 30 minutes south of the Canadian boarder. So jealous! It looks like you two had a blast :)
Yeah man, isn't snow wheeling the best? We're definitely hoping for some deeper stuff soon!
@@ToyotaWorldRunners Snow wheeling is awesome! It adds a whole new dynamic to terrain and it's just so tranquil and much more exciting. I hope you get deeper stuff soon :)
Loved it! Chewed my nails at a couple of spots😂 Didn't see the cabin...
Thanks for watching! Didn't want to show the cabin, trying to keep a good secret, a secret!
Looks like another paradise!
truck rules man. good stuff
I have a pretty much stock 1990 runner but never knew it could be an icebreaker. I was probably more nervous than you when you committed to go for it. Wowsirrs what an exciting adventure. The only thing I might suggest is to buy yourself a couple of soft shackles and see if you like them better than the hard shackle. Nice rig and your video got my attention and focus as if I were there. Happy trails
Thanks for the comment and viewership! I'll add the soft shackles to the last minute Xmas list ;)
Freaking awesome. Unreal scenery.
Awesome adventure!!
This is what I will call Really Off Roading. Nice video. I have a 1992 Toyota extra 4x4 with an engine swap a 2.7 1998 Tacoma engine. I will be driving next week from Northern California to Cabo San Lucas Mexico.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed! Sounds like a great trip for the ol '92, the 3rz is a great engine.
Just subbed man, great adventure thanks for sharing
We love makin these vids! Glad you'll be stickin around!
Another great vid 👍🏼
Thank you! We appreciate it
Looked fun! Yeti in its natural habitat! If you’re ever in California let’s go wheeling! 👊
For sure!! We will take you up on that.
You my friend just got a new subscriber first vid i see and liked it
Welcome to the TWR, thanks for taggin' along!
Beautiful life in the WOODS!! as I said before, I would love to join you guys with my 1985 4runner! but I am here in Maryland.

Would love to adventure with you guys some time ,i lived on the island couple years ago, mill went on strike so i moved back to quesnel. But got to know the southern part of the the island pretty well. All road though, on a 600 vlx shadow. Retiree now so have the time. I am in Vancouver for chistmas then back to quesnel. Awesome video
This was soo gOoood!
fantastic!
Hell yeah!! Awesome
Man the yeti is awesome truck can't wait to get my 87 Toyota finished
Thank you! Gotta keep these old trucks on the road 🤙
super sick video. very curious if you think 33" or even 32" tires could have pulled all of that wheelin'?
When in doubt, a 4x4 Toyota never lets you down!!
Just realized your canadian, first time viewer, greetings from Venice, I also have a yota pickup🍻
Hey Pauly, glad you found us! Cheers! 🍻
Sweet rig man ! 🔥
Thanks! 👍 We love it.
coolest 4x4 vid I've seen!!!
Thank you!!
Asesome adventure, tks for sharing :)
Such a good vid!
Thank you, cheers!
Nice bud ! Loved the outro !!! Lol
Glad you liked it🍻🤙
I am discovering this channel on a backroad spot I am camping at in the back of my Toyota Hiace. So cool. Do they make tire chains for tires that size?? Used them for the first time today and it’s insane the amount of snow traction they give to a good AT tire
That's awesome man, thanks for tagging along! Chains are great, and yes they make them for 37s and even bigger! The thing with chains that I've found is that they're great for digging down to earth to find traction, and they do. When the snow get's suuper deep (as you'll see in an upcoming video) you want to try and "float" and stay on top, and at that point chains lose their usefulness. Cheers for watching 🍻🤙
Gotta love Mosaic.
Beer reviews… love it!
🍻🍻
Cool video but I was hoping to see the cabin!
Nice trailing but would of like to see the cabin
this is bonkers!!!
Perfect
Wicked man
So how you the tires in the snow? Great video keep them coming!
The TrXus are awesome in the snow! They got lot's of full depth sipes, pretty much all the snow shots other than the creek crossing I was in 2wd.
This was awesome lol, thanks for sharing the experience
#BattleRunRelics
Great video, I'm just wondering ,where is the "cabin"?
Need to give the Yeti a Ice Breaker badge award
Brave boy...please mention in this type of cold weather what you do with your truck any special upgrade stuff..and what you do with radiator..? Do you carry weapon because might you can come across any kind of situation in this wilderness..? Than
Hey there, no special winter mods, just stock motor, slightly bigger radiator. I have a hunting knife but only use it for cutting vegetables mostly 😆
@@ToyotaWorldRunners a knife 😄 you must keep something man .Best of luck..
😅 i guess unlocking the hub is strenuious like adjusting air pressures
we call that in to deep to turn around lol, I will say I'm a bit disappointed you didn't show the cabin....
As Doc Brown said in the movie Back To The Future, "Roads? Who needs roads?"
Beautiful, are those tires Super Swampers?
The tires are Interco TrXus MT :)
Such high quality videos for just 4 k subs
Glad you think so!
Seen a guy get his hand stuck in a winch😵💫
TOYOTA🙌😁🇯🇵
Puddles can be scary. Lol.
Haha! Mystery puddles lol
What is the arc on the bumper for?
Great channel , sub and like regards
How wide are you rims and what pressure you running for off-roading ? I just got 10” wide and was thinking to wide 🤔 thanks
These are 10" wide, 37x12.5 tires and I usually run 10psi
@@ToyotaWorldRunners nice so I’m pretty much the same 🤙
Out for a Rip eh? She's a Beaut
Looking for a good Mt tire for 2002 Tacoma 4door v6. What do you recommend
I love the TrXus MT that I run, will probably get another set when these are done. The other tire I'm interested in is the Maxxis RAZR.
Dumb question but at 1:45ish you mention “twin sticks on the rear case.” What does that mean specifically?
You can add twin sticks to an older Toyots T-case to allow you to select between 2 and 4 wheel drive without having to get out and unlock the hubs. Otherwise, when your hubs are locked in you can only select between 4hi and 4low.
Just stumbled across your guys Chanel my girlfriend and I are on the island to we should all go out one time all of us have rigs
Shoot us a DM on IG sometime!
not even a picture of the cabin?!
U look like an experienced driver, new to winching?
🔝🔝🔝💯💯💯💯
An inch and half of ice?
Where's this abandoned cabin??
Who makes your front bumper?
It's a custom bumper by our friend Jason at Westcan Offroad Design.
Looks good
Why are the gates closed?
That would be a great questions for Mosaic Forest Management. Honestly, a lot of it has to do with vandalism sadly.
Oops! That was no trail? It was a creek in the forest!
After all that and no footage of the cabin
You could have just taken the road, since you came out onto it at some point anyway...
All the trails we did were necessary to access where we went.. But even if not.. What fun is that anyway! 😎😆
Not to be a dick but you severely reduce a shackles capacity when you side load it. Should look it up sometime to see just how much. I rig heavy loads on cranes from time to time and do a lot of chainfall work inside industrial buildings. Never side load a shackle
Watched your video to see the cabin 🤷
I know, I felt bad not putting in the shots... It's big conflict honestly. Cabins around here are often getting vandalized, burnt down and subjected for removal by forestry companies. While just putting a simple shot of the cabin may not give it away, it might, and it's not worth the risk. Sorry! Hope you enjoyed the video anyways!
Big truck??? Lol
Wtf you don't even show the cabin
Tryin not to expose sensitive places.. There's a number of cabins in our area that have been burnt down or subject to removal by forestry companies :(
Save yourself all the drama and get on a mountain bicycle.
Would’ve been safer if you brought a jeep with you
