Hi Tessy, I hardly visit thriftstores these days. I have way too many books and I'm pretty sure if I visit one I would get home with a few others. So I try to avoid them. :) And for now it is wiser to keep some money in the pocket, because before you know it it is gardening season. and there is always somthing needed for that.

I love those cookbooks, too! My grandmother passed away in 2024, and I was given the various church, PTA, and American Legion cookbooks she had in her collection. They're wonderful.
Love the thrift store finds. Wish I lived a bit closer, the picture of the primitive house and willow trees would have been in my hands 😂 the stacking boxes were right up my alley too. Look at what I saved by just shopping from my chair. 😂😂😂

The Foxfire Museum Is just down the road from here. Maybe 15 minutes. Rabun gap is where the school was. The teacher in the 1970s decided the class would Interview local folks , then the books came to be.

What a coincidence-On my thrift day, I bought some canning jars and another jar that had orange, cranberry pecan granola in it. Of course the jar was empty.. So when I got home, I googled the recipe so I can fill it back up! I have a list when I go to the thrift store. It’s just that I find such good deals. I always end up spending too much.!

It's sort of surprises me that this would be a slow season at the thrift store. I guess I figured people would be donating Christmas gifts they got that they didn't want or they got things for Christmas and are donating things they no longer have room for. Things that make You Go hmmm
Freshly milled flour….storing it? Won’t it spoil. I used to mill my in the 1990’s, I think I read 3 hours after milling it starts losing nutrients. I wish you the best.
@ you can freeze it, but the oils in the wheat berries will go rancid. Typically, milling wheat berries for flour is for immediate use. You want the flour fresh to get the most nutrition. Don’t grind the wheat until you’re ready to use it up. If I remember correctly, one cup of wheat berries produces 1.25 cups of flour. Happy baking to you! ♥️

I look for the cookbooks that churches or organizations make to raise money. I also like the Gifts in a Jar or the Gooseberry books.
