The Amiga 1200 IDE port will work as usual, but the TF1260 fast IDE controller needs a driver to be installed in order to be used. So if you want to boot from the accelerator port, you will need a modified Kickstart ROM. Or initially boot from floppy with the driver and then a reboot to enable it.
nice card maddi 😄i was eyeing one of these on steve's site the other day just hovering over the buy button .. maybe in a few months ill get one ive spent alot this year and the back end of last year already on a new case new keycaps and the indivision mk3 ..
I see you have an LC060, same as I have. Do you find much that won't work because of the lack of the FPU? I don't think the TF1260 can boot off the internal IDE without a ROM upgrade. You need to have EIDE drivers there at boot time for it to work? I _think_ (and this is from memory) that KS3.2.2 might support it natively. (I haven't played much with my 1260 as I'm still working on a "custom" case for my 1200)
Hiya Maddi ☺️ Ah good to see that gorgeous 1200 and that new card is a nice bit of kit indeed. Love the game, the demo and the music is always a treat to hear as it showed off it’s capabilities very well indeed. Glad Rich got his new card even if his thank you was a bit understated but it was all in good fun and l was very happy to see Mr Neelix, (who l know takes a very active roll in your filming plans whether you like it or not 😂), popping in to say hello to us all. Great upload as usual Maddi and all the best to you, Rich, Mr. Neelix and everyone there ☺️
Best thing you can do is to upgrade that CPU to a full 060. I remember noticing a significant speed increase when I installed an 50MHz 68882 into my Blizzard A1230 at uni, this is because the math*.library's are written to use a hw FPU if one is present. I don't have them now, wish I'd kept them.
Hey, thank you! This is a little different to an ACA500+. The TF1260 is an accelerator card whereas the ACA500+ is more an expansion card that does have some acceleration, but adds a few other things such as ROMs and storage, it allows different configurations etc. The ACA500+ allows external A1200 accelerators like this one, to be used on the A500.
Hey Maddi - The reason for the IDE not working is because the cable is too long. I have the exact card, and the exact issue. It will work and it will work MUCH faster with a shorter cable.... it has to be as short as possible (I have to buy 30cm cables and shorten them as far as i could. I ended up having my SDCard coming out the rear under the floppy. When using it too, you won't get your IDE light, there are fixes but it needs soldering and i get back when any fix needs one :)
Hey Ivan, you are correct with regards to IDE cable length if you're not using a buffered interface. If you're using one however you can use longer cables. Or are you talking about IDE on the TF1260 card specifically? If so I must try that out, but i'd have thought It would have already been designed with a buffer, or the buffered interface should work with it no? intrigued.
@@MsMadLemon I don't know the buffered or unbuffered thing, but i did the exact same thing as you, i had a long IDE cable from the original IDE port to the space under the floppy, i unplugged and connected it to the TF1260 and it didn't work.... so i did as mentioned in the OP, bought 30cm cable, and cut them to be as short as possible, and pop, it worked... and it is much faster. I look forward to see you get it running in the next video, and some easy instructions to get the IDE light to work :)
@@IvanEBC Interesting, i'll give that a try, hopefully I can get it to work. My next couple of project videos are already planned but if I do get it working, it'll definitely be in a future video 🙂
@@tassadar1977 Okay this makes more sense to me as to why it's not working. At the time of filming this video I had 3.14 Kickstart ROMs..Since then I upgraded to 3.2, so thats what I have at the moment. I get this feeling this is going to need KS 3.2.2 to work.

That's a regret i've had myself, not keeping the Blizzard PPC 68040 with Bvision Graphics card back then, it was a perfect setup for me back then.

Your Nexus 7 demo does the same as my TF1260 - it crashes at the same part.
