I'm so glad someone is finally talking about max hand speed at the right hip! I've been asking about this for a long time, yet no one else teaches it except for you Chris and Scratch Golf. THANK YOU! Can you please make a video on HOW to implement this as a feeling/swing thought?
Great video Chris. Thank you. Interestingly, I have an Aunty who played in LPGA tournaments in Australia, Europe and America who gave me a simple, yet effective thought process when addressing the tee with driver in hand. As I was overly rigid. She simply said to imagine I was busting for a wee and to be jiggling a bit as if I was trying to suppress the thought. Not only did it keep my body busy it also switched off the overthinking. The results were increased distance and accuracy.
@@ChrisRyanGolf It was also nearly 30 years ago. I don’t jiggle as much as back then however it’s always in my mind. Another one for me to keep the brain from taking over is when I’m in a group of people I like and keep a conversation going until address. Then pause it and continue the chat after the shot. Still hitting the ball as far, or possibly further which I put down to the incremental gains drivers have had with each model release. Also, a question for you as I’ve played with Taylormade woods and irons for most of my adult life (wedges I tend to try others) and I can’t shape the Stealth Drivers as much as anyone prior. Not even the local rep can explain why. Do you experience this? I can still get a slight draw or fade when I want it, just not as much as sometimes I’d like. 🤔
@@jessecooper9795 I got this fantastic advice nearly 30 years ago. Whilst being 50 now I don’t jiggle as much anymore however when I’m playing with a group I’ve never played with I occasionally get a comment that the next toilet is only a couple of holes away.
Man.. that swing path on the upward swing was the one buzzing me for months! Thank you for clearing it up for me. So very zeroed out path may actually result in a out to in path.
Very helpful. Correct me if I am wrong with respect to the last “correction” (hitting up but a touch to the right) - this is not the same as merely opening the face so it looks like the ball would set off to the right. It’s the arc of the swing plane that has to shift in that direction which will then propel the ball forward straight(er) towards your target. . .
Really useful video. I certainly know I have become too static over the ball but didn’t realise a little bit of athletic movement could make a positive impact on the swing. The thought of hitting up to the right I think will also be beneficial.
Great video, you obviously both are craftsmen in your trade of teach golf swings. And yet, although this is brilliant for low HCers, based on some of the guys I play with on HCs from 15 upwards, I can’t help thinking this would confuse the heck out of them and bring their game backwards. Just a bit of positive feed back not criticism. And thank you for the video, quality stuff!
Does the hand speed drill apply only to drivers (on a tee) ? Maybe a stupid question but some teachers on youtube believe in compressing irons differently I.e Mark Crossfield cheers. Great content as always Chris.
Yeah the release is slightly different with different clubs, more compression with iron, shaft more neutral with driver but the hands will peak at about that same point with all clubs
Really hope you enjoy this one, Steve knows his stuff! Let me know what you thought 🙏🏻
Great video Chris and thanks to Steve for some new methods to test. Do you have a link to the training aid used in the video? 😀
One of the best golf videos I've seen about driving. The part about slowing the hand speed and when is amazing.
Thanks Dan appreciate that 🙏🏻

Thanks and yep will do another follow up video 🙏🏻
Brian Manzella, Mike Austin, Steve Pratt and Mike Malaska teach the early release too. Just to name a few...

Love that, building good visuals and analogies is ideal for golf

@marcusgeorge1825 nothing like a proper good wee to relax mate

2:12 I love this! Thanks for the video! Great stuff.
Terrific information and exercises. Thanks so very much!

Yes spot on, not to do with where the club face points but to do with the direction of the swing adds you say

Absolutely, get moving and should be able to regain some speed
would be good to see this transferred over to hand speed versus club speed with respect to the iron swing.
I can definitely do something to do with irons on this topic too
Hi Chris have you done any vids on the irons yet if so do you have a link/name ?@@ChrisRyanGolf
Cannot wait to work on these 3 things. Hand speed and hitting up on the ball are definitely things I've been doing backward.
Thanks Richard, the hand speed is key! Get that right and you could see some big differences
What a great video. That has given me a lot to think about.
Thanks for watching, hope it helps 🙏🏻

Always appreciate feedback, which parts do you feel may confuse some?
Are you altering the path out to the right in swing or at setup? It looks like the former but difficult to tell.
Chris can you say what app that was on the phone and do you need any sensors in conjunction, thanks
Hey, it’s called blast, really small sensor that sits on the end of the grip and can be just clipped on to any of your clubs, well worth checking out
@@ChrisRyanGolf .. great, thanks for replying 👍
Excellent
Thanks 🙏🏻
Great Advice drill video tips... Esp the hand speed
Thanks 🙏🏻
Hand speed was an eye opener! I'm usually trying to accelerate my hands till impact, and my common shape is a fade!
That would make sense, work it at the range before the course, but hope it helps 🙏🏻
The golf swing, is just like a car crash!
David leadbetter had a very similar device to train impact speed .Great insight though
I can't wait to check out the hand speed ... this is going to be a significant change!
I hope it is for you, key move!
Brilliant session 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks 🙏🏻
Well done Chris 👏 😊
Thanks Roy
Chris, what was the training aid called and where can I buy it? Not wanting to mess around with homemade version.
Its called a Lag Popper
Thank you.
Ilove that someone jumped in and answered as I actually didn’t know, hope you find it 😁
Weight forward make the body stay center and hit a pure contact. Can the weight forward be used for a driver
A little more tricky, tends to encourage a more downward strike, a move that is better with the iron clubs
What about making sure your body is rotating through the shot? None of those help if the body is not getting through the ball

Yeah the release is slightly different with different clubs, more compression with iron, shaft more neutral with driver but the hands will peak at about that same point with all clubs
where can i buy that training stick?
I’m afraid I’m not sure, let me reach out to Steve and see if I can find out
great thank you@@ChrisRyanGolf
Chris is this the same principle as flicking a towel ?
Yes very similar and that’s a great analogy
@@ChrisRyanGolf thanks Chris. Top teacher. Question : use same technique with irons too?
Interesting. Marcus Edblad has been saying this for years
What app are you using to analyze the swing?
I’m using the BLAST app and sensor here, worth checking them out
Better when you have a guest Chris, ONE question, how high are your\ our hands? They look lower than your normal???
Thanks, hands are fairly normal here, may be camera angle skewing the look a little
Ahh haa.
I keep the club back 6ins and never put the clue next to the ball up in the air before hitting...
