When I have a creative block or get stuck on a project I go through my scraps and just make something to get back in the groove. Thanks for sharing! DePoppeLeatherworks
I found scrap leather being sold at hobby lobby and bought a bag. This past weekend we demolished our outside wall in our kitchen to reinsulate it. After insulating, there was still a cold breeze coming through the outlet box. I cut a piece of leather up to fit around all 3 outlets and popped that in under the faceplate. Instantly stopped the breeze and I didn't need to buy that foam. Reduce and reuse!
@@AnchoredLeatherworks I have an idea. Please make a case for a deck of cards. Also, I have purchased several decks of cards that are much smaller than the regular size. There are also over-sized decks of cards, though I don't use those. I had lived a year and a half in hospitals and nursing homes. Now free, I still remember all the things that I "didn't have" during that time. My very own deck of cards was one of those things. And the little cardboard boxes in which decks of cards are sold are flimsey and wear out. While you are at it, a leather container for a set of dominos would also be nice. And again, those dominos can be bought online in a mini-size. I'll wait about a month for your response before offering these ideas on any other channel. Today is July 7, 2023.
@@vintage6346 I love the ideas but the timeline will be challenging. No need to wait, you should definitely provide ideas to other channels and I appreciate that you offered up the ideas here.
@@AnchoredLeatherworks I didn't mean that I was giving you a month to make the video. I was afraid that you might not even reply. Thinking about the dominos, they come in wooden box, so the leather might cover the box, or it might replace it. Also, the container for card should probably have cloth or vinyl lining. There might be acid or colorants in the leather that could damage the cards over time. Thanks for replying.
I've been told that, so I made a knife sheath about 8 years ago to see what happens and there is absolutely no evidence of any damage yet. My guess is that people "think" the chromium salt tanned leather will damage metal but may not realize that the leather is thoroughly cleaned of the salts after tanning. So, to answer your question... Probably not.

Finally, some scrap projects that don’t involve ugly jewelry and tassels. Thanks, Brother
Finally a useful scrap project video that wasn't coasters and bookmarks. Thank you!
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
Some really great ideas! Thank you for the video.

Same!
toothpick holder is a brilliant idea, i should make one myself.
I've been using mine for a couple of years now. I love it.

Nice! Great idea
Those are all good uses for scrap projects.
Thank you!
I do the same thing, this is an awsome video to help the leather craft community to grow 👍
Those are projects after my own heart. Like someone else here said, I'm tired of coasters and bookmarkers.
I'm glad it helped. It's been a while, I may do a second video with new scrap leather projects.

@@vintage6346 My pleasure. I've added them to my idea list. They would both be cool projects.
Very cool. Thanks for the tips and the inspiration.
You bet!
Great video!

Thanks!

Won't the oil tanned leather eventually leak chromium salts and damage your French skiver?
