I remember playing FighterZ back in '07 with my bro, and it was so fun having somewhat competitive matches that didn't resort to the level of sweat we see online nowadays... Wait, wrong Dragon Ball game series.
Something about Fighterz combos and Xenoverse combos just feels so right. So many different routes that just learning a character feels fun. Then you hop online and have a good match and it’s just incredible
I used to play smash competitively back in brawl. I stopped playing for YEARS And one day my friend found out about a random tourney at some place and told me the people looked scrubby and I should come and mop up (this was smash ultimate) and i came in sloshy, felt like i was the little brother for most of my matches I didn't even remember what half of the stuff did and I floundered hard. Watching this makes me feel like that. (I won the tourney tho)
One thing to point out in FighterZ is that the person doing the combos gains meter faster than the person being combo'd. Maybe Sparking Zero could take some notes on that.
I know SZ isn't meant to be a fully level field across all of its characters (if I see one more person try to argue _nothing_ is supposed to be balanced, I swear to God...), but an arena fighter with Tenkaichi mechanics where you could actually contend with fusions using Tien and Yamcha like in FighterZ would hit. I know the cast would be 1/10th as big, but I'm willing to see them try it out. Hell, they could add a mode to SZ that cuts out a portion of the cast to try it out in that game if they're really feeling ballzy.
Fighterz in 2024, who watching? Me. It's funny how a new fighting game sometimes make you appreciate the old fighting game a little more than you did back when it was the new fighting game.
Right? Personally I ended up loving XV2 more after Sparking Zero. Like SZ has both games beat when it comes to visuals but in terms of overall gameplay it feels so repetitive while XV2 and Fighterz it’s so different when you switch characters.
Dbfz is definitely the better game rn because there's no single gimmick you can spam to win, you actually need combos to do damage & can't rely on ki blast spam to block stun people into getting hit by unblockable supers

I was never interested in playing FighterZ although I’ve always been a huge Dragon Ball fan. I always thought it was a mid game until I saw Doto’s videos and really got me into playing it. Now it’s one of my favorite Dragon Ball games ever. I’m glad to see Doto return to this masterpiece of a game.
