Chaga is hard to find if you can find it at all this far south. I recently bought some Chaga from an Etsy shop in Canada for tea. My Mom just won a battle with breast cancer so I got her a tincture made with alcohol to put in her water everyday and I make tea for her and my daughters and myself as a preventative because skin cancer is in my genes on my father's side. I've noticed a small difference in how I feel since drinking it everyday. I feel like I have a more clear mind and slightly more energy. My children's allergies seem to be not as bad as well. I really like it but I wish it was more abundant down here. Thank you for this video!

Dear all, chaga is a very valuable fungus. A piece the size of a thumb can be boiled in a pint of water for half an hour, sweetend with honey then drunk. It has a taste almost like delicate licorice. In Siberia, where I was a few times, they use it to cure liver disease (as you can imagine). The cooked up shanga you can use again and again for a week or more until it is tasteless. It shall shring in size. When dried out then, you can use it for tinder to start a fire.

Chaga I believe helped my lovely Mary as the cancer was eating away at her. It is no cure but I do believe it did help her. Esp with the effects of the chemo and radiation. It is always a treat to see you my friend. I made hers by making it like a pot of coffee. Just grind it up and make it just the same. I am really looking forward to see the camp build. I hope you are having a great weekend......Dean......

Good one Bjørn! I often find chaga (sprängticka) when i walk in the woods. Can't say that i know much about it other than level of antioxidant is extreme. Which is said to be very healthy and holds back ageing. Our natives have held it high in generations. To me it simply taste forest, which is very pleaseant. As try to do with everything, i don't harvest more than i use for my own or some friend. Cheers Bjørn!

@@BjornAndreasBull-Hansen cancer is caused from chemical and or biological contaminants in poorly treated public fawcet water. Holistic medicine is proven to be a promising choice because it does not bring down the immune system like chemo does or burn important tissue and organs like radiation chemo cancer treatment does. Radiation chemo cancer treatment was invented after World War 2 by a Jewish inventor of Old Testament Torah Jewish Orthodox religion with over 600 repetitive prayers and superstitions. They are the same people that invented the chemical weapons of World War 1 and 2. This type of religion is also common in the Ukraine and developed from Byzantine and Catholicism. The biological contaminants reproduce live microbials and nematodes throughout the body that feed on the nutrients a person consumes. If they die tissue can form around them giving the appearance of a tumor or tumors. A person should not consume any sugars either artificial or regular or anything sweet or with added sugar because they gain energy and multiply more rapidly from sugar. A normal well balanced diet of home cooked meals and a boost in vitamins with added herbs and spices is best. Snacks should be nutritional such as seeds and nuts and vegetables and jerky and healthy crackers with cream cheese. Wormwood in the capsule form is an ancient herbal holistic medicine treatment that is not harmful and can be stopped and restarted at intervals while noting progress. Follow exact directions on the label. People in places such as India lived 30 years and longer without cancer treatment. Millions of people in America and the U.K. have also died of cancer although most are white people. One tall glass of Vodka and Ocean spray orange juice without sugar will eliminate the problem of H Pylori that is also a biological contaminant found in fawcet water. The Vodka must be made from potatoes as potatoes are a vegetable and do not turn into sugar in the body. A person should not eat or drink anything 3 hours before or after this treatment drink and can drink it slowly if they do not normally drink alcohol. It is advisable that people obtain the Vodka quickly as this type of Vodka might only be made by the Russians but I am not sure if anyone else makes it. The Russians originated from the Sweden and Norway Vikings and that explains their invention of Vodka as the Vikings were always under attack by their largely Catholic and or atheist enemies in numerous ways and probably poisoned at times too along with other toxins. The Norway Vikings had a fermented liquid drink of honey and spices that may have helped them with any ailments brought on by the same enemies and honey and spices are good antioxidants.

This is an excellent point regarding the taste of nature.
I believe that the sense of taste is a survival tool that we abuse in modern times. We answer cravings with the worst things, when in reality a sweet tooth might’ve driven us to find fruit or honey in the past. It would’ve been our way to naturally vary our diet and get all the nutrients needed.
Have you noticed how a bit of hunger increases alertness and bolsters the sense of smell? Yet we treat even the slightest hunger pang as if it were a deathly illness to be cured with food as fast as possible.
Another aspect is thirst. I have read nowadays the we are losing a distinct thirst sense and often feel it as ‘hunger’ instead - so people might be snacking when they could just do with more water.
I like to be comfortable as much as anyone; but I sometimes envy my ancestors for their strength and wisdom.

I agree with what you say in your blog, about our taste being numbed by the use of salt, refined sugar and premade spice mixes - this is exactly why I started doing some foraging for new, cleaner tastes some years ago. Factory made spice mixes, to me, seem to taste salt only, with a hint of something indescribable.
Being a tea drinker myself, I do think I have to try chaga at some point - both for the taste, and to see if it can help with some inflammatory issues I have

I love that rocky campsite, Bjorn! (I had to pause the video to warm up some previously brewed Chaga tea to enjoy with you) I am using commercial (ethically harvested) Chaga chunks presently, but hope I can make an excursion to a nearby forest where there are plenty of bjerke trees, and perhaps find some! I have an older tree in my back yard that is unfortunately leaning and becoming a danger, so I will have to harvest it this year. But it will be used to warm our home! Too bad there is no Chaga on it, that I can tell. Please keep up your great work!
    Karl

Have you considered perhaps livestreaming the building of the Viking settlement on either RUclips or Twitch:? just set the camera up with a panoramic view and just let it record the whole days progress so people can come into the stream and check up on the progress live? I could imagine it being quite relaxing to watch. Maybe with some royalty free viking music in the background

02.01.2022: I have some chaga at home so used some to make some tea in the same way you did. Normally I add a little chaga powder to my morning coffee. PS I bought my chaga online from a Russian source. PPS I'm 78 this year so please excuse me taking chaga as a prophylactic.

Chaga tea is better not being boiled or subjected to high heat. The addition of high temperatures chemically alters some of its contents and renders them ineffective.

Bjorn, do you know if Chaga from one region is stronger/more effective than from other areas?

    • @timothylongmore7325
      @timothylongmore7325 4 года назад

North east north america is supposed to be strongest. I'm in northern NY state and our chaga grows on big yellow birch. the trees are bigger and live longer. North of us Quebec and Nova Scotia they have big white birch and it's colder so my bet would be theres is a likely to be the strongest. Pollution fallout is the most importent thing to consider. Down wind of cities and nuke plants could be contaminated. The city south of us sprays for mosqitoes etc. Upwind from my location is Lake ontario so our chaga is clean and pure.

Bjorn Andreas Bull-Hansen so they’re hiding your other video? For any reasons in particular? No idea why they would censor an informational video. I understand any alcohol distillation being not appropriate but surely the drying and prepping isn’t harmful to anyone. Friggin RUclips... ever since they started offering services for a fee they’ve been going nuts on the censorship. They should go after the bogus content and leave the quality providers such as yourself in peace. Thanks again for all you do Bjorn!
