Actually, most surgeons who don’t accept insurance do so specifically because insurance tends to drive prices even higher for those who don’t have any, so he could be doing people a favor in that way. Also, there are ways to save that kind of money through websites like gofundme.com which I’ve seen a lot of people use and plan to use myself. Garramone is only a couple hours from where I live, and I love the results I’ve seen from him, so he’s definitely my top choice. I’m still a ways away, but I’m saving and I hope to make it there soon.
I also had surgery with Dr Garramone and I'm happy with my results. I also thought his bedside manner was fine. And he was also super nice to my mom, which made me happy. -toe-
My exhusband had top surgery with Dr.Garomone, and he was perfectly nice. I have no idea what people are talking about. He has a great bedside manner. The results were fantastic, and my ex-husband was not an easy candidate. 6'4 330 lbs
This is a really helpful video. I've heard a lot of controversy about him and this helps me understand some stuff. I've heard he doesn't have malpractice insurance, do you know if this is true?
I have a quick question! Did you pay out-of-pocket for the pre-op physical & bloodwork? And how much was it? I'm trying to decide if I can pay out-of-pocket or if I should stay where I'm at & have insurance here cover that stuff before I leave for Florida
My insurance covered those. I would definitely get them done ahead of time if I were you - especially since if there's any issue and you have to delay your surgery for some reason, you won't have already traveled!
@@CelesteM Ok cool, thank you for the info! Do you know what the time limit is to get those (I think I saw a month but I can't find it on his site anywhere)?
I have definitely heard of some people using Medicaid to cover their top surgery. I think it varies by state so you will probably need to check on your specific policy.
You need someone to sign off on your mental health, so any professional you can get to assess you would work. You don't necessarily need to see someone on a long-term basis. I've heard of some gender therapists providing letters for transition within 1-3 sessions (including online therapists). I don't know any names offhand since I didn't need to go that route, but you can look around and see if you can find one like that.
Did you need to have a therapist or counselor sign a paper recommending the surgery for you? Because my therapist does not support this and will not sign anything regarding it.
Yes, my psychiatrist did it for me. I'm sorry to hear your therapist is unsupportive 😔 You might be able to find a different therapist (a gender therapist, for example) who can evaluate you and recommend it for you. I've even heard of some online therapists providing this as a service, though I don't know names offhand.
You can also get the letter from your primary care physician, and the Garramone center has a psychologist they can recommend who can recommend you the surgery.

Yeah, my mom liked him a lot too 😊
That’s so cool how he used they/them pronouns for you on your paperwork! I really want to have him do my surgery

It's the first I've heard of that so I don't know either way! I'm glad the video was helpful 😊
Thank you for sharing 🙏 what was the name of the clinic?

@@TunnySaysIDK In my pre-op packet it says 30 days for bloodwork. That was in 2017 though so you might want to double-check with the office 😊
@@CelesteM Sweet, thank you so much!
im about to travel to FL from arizona to get my surgery done .
hey, same! my surgery day is tuesday with him
Dr garramone is the best best best best best
My deductible is $250. Def a privilege.
I have Medicaid and I was wondering if insurance would cover the hospital and anesthesia fees (even if it did not cover top surgery itself).

I chose dr. Garramone too and iam soooo nervous and scared
Loool don't doubt him
If you can't get a therapist is there still a way to get top surgery from him 😓 I'm a non-binary look for top surgery
