When I watch Virgil, I have to remind myself to let go of my preconceived ideas of what "Groove" is. And just allow him to take me where he wants to go. And it's always a trip worth taking!
he always grooves.. groove doesn't always have to be a synonym for "danceable". The guy's pocket is incredibly deep- the issue is that's a moving target

Rofl bro you are clueless. El Estepario is one of my favourite drummers but openly admits he is a long way from mastery of metric modulation etc of Virgil. I love both though
El Estepario Siberiano is the used boxer of Virgil.

Sorry but, El Estepario Siberiano, only uses at most two modular arithmetic bases: 2 and 3 [and remains stuck in linear!], and only multiples of these two prime numbers. I'll let you count all the time signatures that Virgil Donati used here... #incommensurable #nonLinear 2 3 5 7 11 13 .... probably more

Weird... Why are people calling Virgil a dummer? That's the farthest thing from what he is. Time lord is probably better suited.
