    Thanks for the video.
    May I ask 2 questions?
    -Since you use a step bit, does the back hole end up being a bigger hole than the front hole... or do you run it all the way through so that both holes are 1/2"?
    -How do you attach these to your house around window frames and such?
    Thanks!!!
    -How do you

      I drill the step bit all the way through so both sides of the pvc piece are ½”
      If you Google “clear pvc clips pixels” you will see the clips I used to use.

    How did you make the gully that hold the pipe in the wood. Is that a 2x4 or bigger?

    • @Bigrob444
      @Bigrob444  3 года назад

      2x4 would work. This was just a scrap 1x3 I had laying around. We put it on a table saw on a 45* and ripped it, then flipped it over. That gave us a 90* V in the wood to hold the pvc pipe

    Just to clarify a couple of points before I follow in your footsteps. The pipe is 1/2" pipe??? The hole you drill is 1/2" hole?? Any help much appreciated. I will buy a drill press this week to do this. It would have been helpful if you had shown the insertion of a couple of pixels. Thanks

    • @Bigrob444
      @Bigrob444  5 лет назад +1

      The pipe is 1/2" ID (internal diameter) PVC pipe and you drill a 1/2" OD (outer diameter) hole in the pipe. That is correct. The pixels literally just push right in the hole. Let me know if you have any further questions and I can whip up a quick video.

    1/2" hole is 12.7mm. wont it be little sloppy since the pixel are 12mm? what size did you make the hole that you push the pixel threw first to get to the 1/2 hole?

    • @Bigrob444
      @Bigrob444  3 года назад

      I used a ½” drill bit to drill through the PVC. Because the pixel has little tabs/ears and the pixel is going through two sides of the pvc pipe it’s a snug fit.

    I plan on doing something like this as well for my show. Are you using these to go around windows? How did you navigate around corners? Pipe on Pipe or elbow or?

    • @Bigrob444
      @Bigrob444  4 года назад +2

      I drill the PVC for anything that I want straight lines for: rooflines, garage outlines, flat trees, windows, etc.I used a 90* elbow and drilled the hole so that it was right at the edge of the 90 on both sides, so that it would be symmetrical.

    Do you do 3" spacing on all your drills? And for that do you use 4" spaced pixels?

    • @Bigrob444
      @Bigrob444  3 года назад +1

      The jig is setup for drilling holes with 2” pixel spacing. I run 3” wires on 2” spacing.

    I’m confused. So the pixel pushes through the back hole and into the other side. The wire on the pixels are long enough for this I’m assuming. Can you please show us a pixel in the hole?

    • @Bigrob444
      @Bigrob444  3 года назад

      Yes, you got it right. The pixel pushes through the whole pipe with the front having the LED exposed and the rear having the wire exposed. This video shows the garage outline where you can see the pixels and how they stick out in the front and the rear - ruclips.net/video/fPWXOVwMgaE/видео.html

      My111sons table saw at a 45* angle. Flip it around and 45 the other way.

    Can you use the same setup for a 1" pvc pipe? Need to drill 3/4" hole both sides like you. Great video btw!

    • @Bigrob444
      @Bigrob444  Месяц назад

      Yes you could. But I moved over to a 3d printed setup that drills holes 5x faster.
