    Josh looks like he is going through the "I am ashamed of my dad and his dad jokes" faze. Of course he IS going through I am too big for Lego's faze. Wait till he is in his 30's. He will get back into it.

    Awesome set
    I'm pretty sure the McLaren came out in 2022, still the Mercedes is a big upgrade
    8:20 Lego didn't have the licensing for the wheel decals, the first sets out of the factory have them, the next batches have just a design
    I'm curious which Land Rover set Josh prefers, I'm guessing the technic one

    Thanks for great compare! AWESOME!
    Next sweety for me - 2024 acidic-greeeen KICK SAUBER💚
    And LEGO should add turbo, ers and exhaust detailing next🙌
    Think 42000 without stickers - could gorgeously stay with all collection🌚

    Not a red bull fan as well, but yeah I'm still Dutch. I like the design of red bull tho, and I have the McLaren already so I'm curious about the generational leap when I buy the next f1 technics set.
    Great video guys, I didn't think much of the Williams car but now I know that it's pretty cool! Especially with the v10!

  • @Ship-in-Space

    A Red Bull car with wider slick tires at the back, than at the front, + more print parts, would have been nice! 👍

  • @tinkerman__
    @tinkerman__ 9 месяцев назад +3

    For context, the McLaren launched alongside the 2022 cars for the new regulation of F1 cars so Lego had to do a lot of guesswork in making the McLaren set. They didn’t have a real car to base the design off so had to base it on mock ups and show cars. The W14 Mercedes is a real car and with the same regulations as 2022 going into 2023 (aside from minor changes). So livery aside, they had a lot more to work with to get higher accuracy and detail.

    • @tinkerman__
      @tinkerman__ 9 месяцев назад +1

      Also for further context, this design follows the zero sidepod concept which Mercedes ditched in May (F1 season runs from March-November). So they deffo had this set designed around the 2022/early which is why it has way more detail. A shame that car was so slow and didn’t win a single race. W11 would be my dream set.

    Great cars. Good choice to exclude 42000. Although more Technic, it's smaller and more like a 1:9 scale. As a 🇾🇪 I like to see RB next, but the license is elsewhere now.

    Alex, this video is far more interesting than an F1 “race” 😉. Lego would do themselves well to start making NASCAR kits especially considering that this years Daytona 500 winner, William Byron, is an AFOL.

    Great review and I appreciate the comparisons! I don't own any of these cars yet, and I wanted to love the McLaren set, but there was too much I didn't like about it. But the Mercedes looks great and I'll get it in the next double vip points or high threshhold GWP promotion. And if this is the 2023 Mercedes, it should have pushrod suspension in front and pullrod in back, right?
    I don't have a particular favorite team, although I'd like to see Lando Norris (2025 Mercedes driver?) win a race (but I'd settle for anyone who can at least make it difficult for Max). But the next car I'd like to see is the Aston Martin just because I like green race cars. I thought I saw where there would be an Aston Martin Speed Champions set later this year, so who knows?

    When you build the McLaren it has very good suspension, but after a few months it loses it if it doesn't have anything under it keeping it up, guess it's just too heavy for it, so it will probs be the same for the Merc

    Guys, the "Silver Champion" wasn't officially branded, but that was Mika Hakkinen's McLaren that won the 1999 championship.
    I'll never be a Ferrari fan, but out of those five that's one I'd most like to get (I have the Silver Champ :- )
    The way the engine cover comes off and you can take the nose off like in a pit stop was such an improvement over the previous two. The McLaren just doesn't look right and the Merc... maybe on discount.
    And yes, Red Bull next. Not because I'm a Max and Newey fan, but the colours would look so much better than that black Merc.

    Good video... BUT the new Mercedes is definitely not good. The rear tires have to be wider than the front ones. And if Lego creates new tires (slicks), why are there no prints on the side?!
    Until now I only bought Lego and no other brands but the Alfa Romeo from Cada seems to be way better than these Lego Cars!

    "The F1 cars don't need a transmission because there's no space for it" says it as the camera is panning over the giant air gap between the diff and the V6 in the Mercedes. Like I get it, these are never gonna house a sequential 8-speed transmission like the supercars, but they coulda easily fit a small 2-speed one in there. Y'know, to give you an idea of what's going on in the real thing. To show you they care. What do you get? Nothing.
    Also surprised you didn't mention the Silver Champion's and the Williams' printed tires.
    Also you say the black livery looks good on the Mercedes. That might be true for the real thing, but the Lego model looks awful with all the red and blue and yellow polka dots poking through every hole in the paneling. For comparison, look at the Silver Champion. What do you see? Black. Gray. And a whole lot of silver. _That's it._
    You might pick up on which of these models is my favorite. But then again, my opinion might be skewed, because it's the only one of these I own.

      The McLaren and Mercedes can be purchased on the LEGO website and most major retailers. The other three can be purchased from private sellers. I recommend buying them on Bricklink.

  • @ryann5247
    @ryann5247 9 месяцев назад +1

    why the hate on the 42000? It has a functioning DRS which you complained about not having on the McLaren and the Mercedes, it is correctly scaled to the other 1:8 scale f1 models, unlike the Ferrari, it has an engine cover like the older models, AND its modeled after Lewis Hamilton's championship McLaren... What is there not to like?

    Why do Lego keep making the rear wheels the same size as the front on there F1 cars, it just spoils the appearance of the car for me and puts me off of buying one.

      Buy the Cada Alfa and use their bigger rear wheels/tyres, that’s what I’m doing. Also have reduced the ‘hump’ in the front, altered the wing mirrors, changed out all the coloured pins etc. Still not perfect but will keep on it!
