What a treat it is to be able to listen to and see one of our generation's greatest creators take a minute to reflect on his very own artwork that helped influence and shape the comic book art for generations to come. As an added bonus, Jim takes a minute to describe the creation process for everyone's favorite Ragin' Cajun Gambit. Make sure you subscribe to Jim Lee on Twitch so that you can interact with him live the next time he is on. Content in this video was acquired from twitch.tv/jimlee with the permission of Jim Lee.

I could listen to Jim talk about his X men art all day.
I know lol its so relaxing. you just sit down and enjoy and forget about any ccrap u have to deal with after its done
All day and .. every days
Jim’s best work is still at Marvel. Legend.
Fascinating the age we live in. I remember seeing these drawings in the 90s and now I get to listen to the creator tell the stories behind them
Just ordered this yesterday thanks to Kelsey mentioning it. I hadn't realized it was about to drop. Very excited for this!!
Loved seeing this, but it makes me sad that we'll probably never see any Marvel work from Jim again.
Gambit is my favorite character. It was really interesting hearing the bit about his creation and how Gambit is his favorite character.
Just give it time, with how terrible AT&T is treating DC, it's probably Jim's 5 mil golden parachute that's keeping him there vs cutting him as well.
@@Categoryonegames this didnt age well lol
This was so Inspiring. A beautiful book. I absolutely have to get this. Jim is awesome. I'm also still drawing every day. Following my dreams.
Ohhhhh yeaaaaa, just bought me a Jim lee drawn X-men shirt last week. HIS X-men I consider da best.
Jim lee is still the gold standard to me in comics. I see his art on a self my eye does right to it and the 11 Year old in me is saying you have to have this. I just really wanted to say thank you Mr Lee your art made and still makes people happy.
🫵😃👍
You know, I find that when I watch videos like these, the artists have very interesting unique stories involved with a lot of their published works.
This era was awesome
Jim lee is the best I love when he does the x-men love it . the book looks amazing wish i could afford that looks beautiful big jim lee fan
Please do at least one more X-Men event Jim. I love all your work but your X-men work is legendary. Please.
We can only hope. 20 years at one company is a long time..sheesh😬
i started collecting comics because of Jim Lee X-men in the 90s.
Interesting to get these tidbits from the OG source. Loved this art. By far, my favorite work of his. Truly one of the best art teams of the 90's (Lee/Williams). I still look at those X-Men books and drool over them.
Found out this book thanks to a video from the Cartoonist Kayfabe channel. Those guys love the art as much as anyone does and great to see two pros go into detail into the art.
Those guys give great commentary on art and really know their stuff. Love watching them.
Gotta love how Jim says "He probably said some positive stuff about me" and then proceeds to be depicted as lazy and "Had to carry his a$$ on my back" 😂
Could listen to Lee talk all day. Only this guy can educate you on science while teaching you how to draw.
I have always enjoyed your version of Wolverine, Mr. Lee. Keep doing what you do. I'm enjoying your D.C. work.
Jim Lee. Artist and comedian. Love it.
That Colossus was freaking madness artwork!
Jim could you make that drawing again but live, would be cool and awsome!
The raging Cajun
I have every issue Jim Lee ever did with Marvel and was at San Deigo back then. He was great and gave me some free advice on my artwork and he even had a laugh due to we both have the same name. So I got right at an hour of his time and he gave me a mammoth hill of information to fix everything in my art that was wrong. I will never forget that even after 30 years I still remember that. and I am so grateful for everything he told me.
You made Magneto look even better with your artwork.😅😅
Love Jim Lee's X-Men era, that's a masterpiece for me! ❤
Marvel should rely on Mr Lee for the vision on Xmen for this new stage on the MCU, his vision of this team, the way he revamped it thru the early 90s, was so badass...
My speakers on my iPhone are Broken....but STILL ive watched this video TWICE!!! So so so good! What a BOOK!!!!!
I've been waiting literally years for this!!!
I'm like in Heaven just absorbing all of this! I love Jim's work. One day one I hope one of my covers/pages sell for that much lol.
What an artist, Jim! Your work has inspired my career! 💪💪💪
Wow! ordered on Amazon.
I remember seeing original pages of yours and Scott’s uncanny run for sale at the X-Men tour in 91. Wish I would have bought some pages I’d be rich. Unfortunately I was 10 years old
Jim's a master draftsmen and his art is incredible
Thank you Jim to exist. You are one of my biggest ispiration
Man, on top of everything else, Jim is also damn funny.
Awesome art and marvel history, what could be better!
I am waiting on my copy which I preordered on Amazon. Jim Lee is such an inspiration.
Love the work Jim lee
배트맨ㆍ허쉬ㆍ올스타배트맨같은 레젼드작품이 또다시나오길 간절히기원합니다
I just pre-ordered mine....
I've got mine on pre-order from my LCS! Can't wait to get my hands on it! ! !
Gambit's first appearance was actually X-men Annual #14, not Uncanny X-men 266.
Early Jim Lee art always inspires me to draw something. Although his art was still a,axing, it gives me hope.
Thanks Jim!
I want him to do a similar commentary on his xmen series 1 cards
Jim the 🐐!
I can't wait to get mine i ordered this back in November
14:31 Yeah, i still have those 3 editions. Each page is a masterpiece.
very cool!!!
Legendary artist
I gotta have one!
Nice hat Jim!
Yess new video 📹🙌
I didn’t even make it past the 7th minute of this video, I pre-ordered the book. Now hold on I need to go tell my girlfriend. 😬
@ODIN Force you know, it went pretty much exactly like that. XD
Cant wait for this
Merci Mr Lee
Why cant jim draw asses like the first cover with black widow anymore 😂
Damn I like this book
When I look at Jims art it remind me of Ron Lim's
Ahahahhahah
@@mattceccotti What does that mean bro? His old art looks a lot like Ron Lims art.
Yh I really enjoyed Ron Lim drawing Silver Surfer around that time.
@@chandrastar5939 same bro hes one of my favs
Love this video. Great artist. I have this and the 2nd print version. Both were around $150. This is awesome because mine are still sealed. I didn’t want to open it. Great stuff. Still a fan from X-men to Wildcats to Deathblow to Batman to Superman and Justice League.
There's a few other videos on RUclips where people go through the pages and break down a few things. They are a great watch.
Makes me miss Wetworks.
The one piece I was disappointed this or the supersized one didn't have was the #1 gatefold cover I'm just puzzled why it isn't included
Every time I see your art i want to sketch. 🤤
Was it Chris’s idea to make Gambit a bit of a charmer to women?
Great another Jim Lee that I have to buy. LOL Speaking of; I just got my Absolute Wild C.A.T.s delivered and I love it! Any chance of an Absolute Edition for Divine Right?
Ooooooo the cap Wolvie cover
Sexy!!!
Lol
Any idea why the signed and numbered edition's webpage at IDW is now a broken link?
Hell yeh
what pens and inks does he use to do this ??
wow
I think uncanny 275 is his single best issue
I would love it if he did one more run on Xmen comics or Wolverine comics
You and me both, buddy.
I actually like black/white better than color 😳
As much as I love Scott Williams' inking, I wish these were all in pencil rather than already inked. I want to see Jim Lee's art in his natural form.
I was on the fence for this till I saw the video. I prefer it all in color. Or if you want it ink only double of the same artwork in both forms.
@@ShadyDBZ4 If you want to see color, just buy the oversized reprint of the comics. X-Men XXL by Jim Lee, but I think it is out of print and is pretty expensive on the 2nd market unless you want digital version.
But the point of these "artist's editions" is to see the pencil lines. Color distracts from the original artist's art lines.
@@brianng8350 okay I see.
@@brianng8350 I guess I get that. I’d totally read it. I guess there’s not a high demand for it? I’m still curious as to why black and white is still competing with color, even though I like black and white more, everyone I talk to appreciates color more(even though it blands the details IMO) .
$650.00 became $300,000.00. WOW!
Wow, that’s good money. I think I’ll start a channel drawing funny book stuff too.
This is almost like saying you are going to be the next multi-million dollar lottery winner. Just because you can buy a ticket does not mean you are the winner. And even if you can draw, to be like a "Jim Lee" is one in a billion. Good luck.
6:25 $1500 is pocket change...considering, you can resell the page for $150K or more!!! 😗
Was "that person" Michael Turner?
😱😁😱
Hehe Jim Lee explaining Science and he was from a Medical School :)
Always interesting to hear the history. I'm sorry the man passed away who wanted your art. Be blessed, his family, and all in Jesus shalom CBN.com
Whats the name of the intro song?
What do I need to do to get my own vza video?
Keep on drawing and upgrading your skills. You'll be on the channel in no time.
Relíquia das Artes /
How much????
Exactly how much does this book cost, because the way you’re describing it, it sounds like it must cost a fortune?
You can find it for $113.99 right here... amzn.to/44GCVHq
I never thought I'd see the day where Jim Lee feels the need to pitch to all of us why his art valuable...Sad
Man this makes me hate current comics and miss how good they used to be. There aren't very many worthwhile comic artists today. it makes me wonder if they lowered the bar of entry.
So whenever Jim Lee needs some money, he can just draw a page and sell it
Hi Jim, what is the easiest way to contact you by email?
First comment yeah
7:0 Not buying from Jim Lee, then died early.
Consequences.
So what if someone sold a comic you drew for more than you make, made or was making at the time of the comic itself. Like 300k more. Would you be a bit upset that someone just made a lot of money selling what you drew and you get none of it.
Ok no
X-Men looks boring compaired to Jim Lee
Jim Lee Please do Something Good with Nightwing with Todd McFarlane I'm pissed off he's been reduced to a gay buttocks he's the most iconic comic character ever What a Disgrace
too long and boring
Head Would 71 keeps missing the point, which is that Yahweh should not be killing and torturing ANY of his precious creations, let alone the majority of life on Earth.
