    My Daughter has a 1918 T track roadster with a V8 60 in it. She built it herself at Verns,with a little help . She drove it daily to highschool and junior college. She still has it but now she drives her 67 F350 flatbed.

    Fascinating to see how these vintage suspensions go together.

    I'm really looking forward to seeing an engine in this car which will of course lower the front a bit too . I am truly impressed by the way that you have managed to make a whole lot of parts from different cars look like they belong together. Its always the way that you integrate things that make for a great rod rather than how much money you can spend.

      Yea the weight of the drivetrain and slightly smaller front tire should get the front end sitting better. I can't wait to get it sitting correctly! Thanks for the comments, the car looked awkward at first but finally I've gotten it closer to my vision of a more cohesive car that flows! Glad you dig it!

    That 1 year with the long snout is 1936. Also, amen brother on the rat rod/fad t thing. I am building a 26 Touring as we speak and everybody says it's a rat rod because I'm using a 292 I6 out of a 75 Chevy C30 dump truck, a 700R4 out of an 89 Suburban, and a banjo rear out of a 37 or 38 Ford (not sure which)

      The term "rat rod" is Matt's trigger word, it gets him quite upset. Thanks for watching! -Mike/ITG

      Hi Chris, wow that's awesome! We're flattered you'd build a model off of the Free-T! Let us know if you need any additional photos or different angles of it. Thanks!

    Aloha brother from the island of Kaua’i! I’m rebuilding a model T / A for our community college as a vocational training program for students in the trades industry. Car was donated by a friend and families, having a hard time locating parts for the progress. Would you be be able to help us and send us parts for our build? I’d pay for it plus shipping. Thx for your time . 🤙 Albert

      The front axle is an original ford axle, at some point in its life someone dropped it roughly 3". Mike/ITG

    Hot rods forever, leave the rat rods behind in the dust.

    what makes the square backed spindles better.
    rat rods are for attention getters I call them shock rods
    you ever notice ppl build there rat rod with a huge chop and all kinds of junk welded to them and then in a year there for sale

      No real advantage, just they are what I have the most of and they fit the more common 41-48 juice brake backing plates with no mods. I just use whatever I've got haha.

      Ya, I hear you. I'm building a 29 Roadster all original Ford steel and period correct swap meet parts. Yes another one, but there aren't any around where I live so it's kind of a scarce car here. Do you have any insight on painting a late 40's to mid 50's traditional car? Not a magazine car but a well built driver. I doubt guys back then had pristine paint booths. I unfortunately had to media blast half an inch of house paint off the body so it's in black primer now. I should tell you I really liked that trans cross member you guys made with the "cast" look. Great idea and execution. Excellent channel. Thanks for taking the time to film, edit and share your builds.

      Sounds like an awesome project! I've painted a handful of cars in my garage/driveway before. It can 100% be done. Just pick a good warm morning and spray early in the AM before the bugs come out and you can do it! With today's clearcoats you can easily wetsand and buff imperfections out to look pretty dang nice. We're planning to do the Free-T with Eastwood 2K aerospray cans in the shop/driveway with the ceramic chassis black and a satin clear and then buff it until it gets that deep, semi-gloss look of old lacquer paint. Can't wait to get to that point!

    • @TravelBackroads
      @TravelBackroads 6 лет назад +1

      IronTrap Garage thanks for the tips. I'll have a look at that Eastwood paint too. That does sound totally doable. I'll stay tuned so see how you guys get to that point. Thanks again for the reply. Cheers,
