- In this video I show you how I mounted rear shocks using the LG Speed & Kustom shock tabs and a pair of Monroe 5752 tube shocks.

Thanks for watching!
Edit! I’m so sorry but someone I completely screwed up the music for this video. I’m a hot rod builder, not Martin Scorsese haha.
Finally !!! After checking heaps of forums and yootoob channels, it was you that explained beautifully, how to mount shocks... I couldn't find out how much pre-load to put on them...
Now I know...
Thanks matey and keep up the great (layman's version) tutorials...
Excellent !!!
Awesome. Glad I could help!
I keep forgetting about those shocks also some of the super shorty shocks if you need try semi cab shocks are really short also.
Great idea with the truck cab shocks!
I've found MIG is not as affected by magnets. So I tack with MIG and weld in with TIG. Nice shock mounts!
Thanks for the tip on the shock size. I appreciate it.
Awesome!
I love that Roadster pickup you are building. My Dream is to enjoy my 54 Ol'Beater. Sell it. Start on a Roadster like yours. Sorta Happy Days style
Cool! Do it!
Those do look very similar to the pete and jakes shocks. Nice work getting them installed! I'm lazy and just use the mig to tack in stuff that's awkward to clamp...makes a bit of a mess but saves some frustration.
Yea I think I read on that on the HAMB that they’re the same dimensions at Pete and Jakes.
Amen to ruff riding hot rods.
Keeps ya on your toes! Haha
Awesome. What is the collapsed, to extended measurement ? PLEASE !. Thank you
I lowered the front of my Ol' Beater 54 Chevy, using the front suspension from a 78 C 10...made my own mounting brackets. Thanks
I’m not sure what the collapsed and extended lengths are off the top of my head. I’m sure if you googled the part number, it’ll tell you.
Not many serious car builders seem to remember what "channel," "section," and "Z" frame mean anymore. Not many of the old cars are left to show what they really were.
Hi there, why didn’t you weld two tabs onto the diff housing, it would have saved you from gusseting the single tab you now have, just subscribed, looking forward to more videos, take care.
Cool, thanks for subscribing! Much appreciated. If I mounted two tabs sideways on the axle tube the arc of the tube would have caused the shock body to hit the axle tube.
those shocks work on the front also ?
Yup they would. I run them on the front of my 47 Ford.
Love this site.how much is this frame need in the back what rear end is that thanks
Thanks! The rear end is from a 1952 Ford F1 pickup.
Sorry, I don’t understand what you’re asking in regards to the frame.
Sorry but from this octogenarians point of view the shock mounts are the easy, cheap way out. There should be more meat in the brackets and the lower shock body should be further out from the axel tube with two brackets partially encircling the tube and extending forward to mount the shock.
Octo what now?
What ladder bar setup is that on the rear?
The ladder bars are from Parksville Swap Meet. I’m pretty sure they’re Pete & Jakes. The axle mounts I built myself out of 3/8 plate, and the frame mounts I built out of rectangular tubing
Am i 1st to like and comment😁😁😁😁
Haha yup! Thanks!
