Just finished watching and listening to Gantz Ghaf and now this. After 3 seconds I was really surprised to have seen and heard what you meant. :D Quite fascinating. Thank you for sharing.
I'm loving the sound of this lick, but I'm not quite sure what he means by the sticking and I'm struggling to see it slowed down. Has anyone figured it out?
Steve's not super clear about it but he plays this at the beginning: RLLRRLLBB. So that will be the inverted doubles part that is similar to how the 6 stroke roll is played: RLLRRL. Nothing mentioned is new IMHO. I think a lot of this stuff is contextual and is only cool when played in certain kinds of electronic music otherwise it just sounds like M-16s in a fire fight ;)
If you love complex drums listen to xanopticon, autechre are cool with experimental sound design but their drum complexity while way above mainstream still is lacking compared to some extreme idm/breakcore.
When he hit that rack drum and it was also a snare it felt like when you pick up a "heavy" jug that turns out to be really light.
i love lessons like this, you dont over explain it… you mention the ingredients and leave the cooking to us lol
I love Aphex Twin/Autechre
Which Ae track inspired you here? LCC springs to mind

I look forward to seeing more on this.
This is fantastic
Steve, love it. And I really enjoy your playing a lot. Thanks for the lessons. I’m always looking for new stuff to practice. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing, Steve!
Could recognize some of Zach Hill’s chops there as well
in the future, drum kits will
only consist of snares lol
Autechre
Nice!

Where was the lesson ? You just played it and explained nothing - you didn’t ever break down the sticking ?🤷♂️
