  • I set out to the Sierra's to camp a night in the Tesla. Could I make it up to Tahoe without charging form the North Bay Area? How much battery does the car use heating in below freezing temperatures?

Love the new video man! These vlog style travel videos are fun. All considering 13% isnt too bad.

%13 battery it consumed for heating 23C inside when outside was around -6C on average.
Pretty impressive compared to other cars that don´t have CAMPING mode!!!

I am glad I could help ☺️ give yourself lots of room for charge, the car will pull a lot of power in the drive between the camping spot and charger

This was a great video, I stay in Massachusetts and it snows out here, maybe not like where you are from but we def get it up here and to see you drive and all of that is very confidence building for me, because we get snow and a lot of it as well, so its good to see someone with a tesla in the cold make a video. Most videos are in California or somewhere warm or not a place that doesn't gets a lot of snow. Great video and I will be doing the same thing with my Model Y. Again, Great video!!!!

en the fact that people are fear mongering about electric cars running out of juice in traffic jams, 13% is pretty good. 10kWh used also isn't that bad, specially if it comes from a home plug.

The heat pump is very efficient! You figure I had the heat blasting with a glass dome with sub freezing temperatures and no regard to energy use

You can buy a roll of reflective insulation.. its about 1/4 inch think. Cut it to shape for the windows. Will keep heat in and reflect the sun in the summer.
The roof in the Tesla is gonna be more difficult.. your losing a lot of heat or cold to that big open glass.

There is a weird effect when it’s so cold outside, 70 feels like less. Maybe it has to do with how quickly the heat dissipates through the cold glass. Kind of like how on a 100+ degree day, 70 degrees on AC doesn’t seem to be enough

@@Adventures_with_nick living in Phoenix that is why tinted windows is essential. 😀 however in the cold having a nice warm blanket will allow you to set it lower.

    • @kens97sto171
      @kens97sto171 Год назад +3

      @@jamesyao9199
For guys, use a pee jug.
The larger Gatorade bottles work best, they have a nice rubber seal on the cap so no leaks and a larger opening so its easier to use.
Yep., a little gross. But that is the solution.
In the morning just go dump out the bottle someplace appropriate. Its just pee.. it's not gonna hurt anything.
For the ladies, they make some devices that can help them out.
The alternative is getting out of the car.. losing all that heat, and disrupting your sleep.
