I saw one interview with vietnam war's veteran. He says that filling bags with earth was all-day work for most of ground troops, all days long building camps with this, moving to new area, filling bags and building new camp.
Wow such a great feet of engineering ❤thanks for sharing 👍. Such wonderful timelapse footage 😍. Thanks for sharing 👍 greetings from England 🇬🇧 Simon and Beth ❤️ 🙋
For straight walls, I suspect rammed earth would be easier--especially if you have front-end loader to dump the soil into the forms. But if want round walls or a dome, earth bags are the way to go. And they are probably less fussy about the clay to sand ratio.
Hyperadobe bags would be another option. Much faster and easier to fill but more sensitive to soil type, possibly requiring some cement to be mixed wirh the soil.
Great ingenuity. It’s crazy in the United States and many other places in the world houses cost hundreds of thousands of dollars if not billions whereas some people can build their own makeshift house for thousands of dollars. Much better than living in the forest.
This schizophrenia is only in English speaking countries. So, you can make Silicate Bricks and Aerated Concrete from Sand. And then make houses out of these cubes. And Panel houses (Concrete - Insulation - Concrete) are finally made in 2 days. The foundation (4 - 30 days = drying. Or made from ready-made elements) is delivered and built. 2-3 days, apartment 40 m2 ready. Well, a week for 100 m2. Well, modern Americans make houses out of bags and sand %)) (In principle, you can make houses from Clay and Wood and Sawdust. Hehe. But why?) All these problems can be easily solved.

@@udarnik. I've come across that information in one of the dozens of videos I've watched on the subject. I don't remember exactly (~three weeks? if memory serves but that seems short so don't take it for gospel, three months sounds more reasonable.) Also, I think that would vary to some degree on the amount of UV (look for the UV index published as part of the weather forecast) and moisture present in the atmosphere, as well as the quality of the water. We all know that certain pollutants can acidify rain and what that can do to stone, let alone plastic. As our magnetosphere weakens, I think we should also consider solar radiation in general, and not only ultraviolet light. The soil composition also comes into play as some soils will harden more quickly and completely than others. I think it's advisable to experiment with your soil and materials before you build and then complete the work as quickly as possible. Unfinished work should always be covered with a tarp and anchored with stones against inclement weather... If I come across a better, more exact answer, I will repost.

Moisture is a problem too, which is why these structures are most popular in desert area.

Great video really love this idea but why does it start all over again at 3.40 minutes?
At 1st I thought they started on a different one.
It was just a test to provoke a comment?
Why would you put the bags directly on the dirt ground. would not rock or cement be a much better base?
They didn't put it on dirt. Gravel foundation.
Cost effective
Cement is like 80 a bag probably 60 when this was made..but yes good idea.
Looked like it was pretty packed soil. Probably plenty stable. No need for anything else unless drainage is of concern.
They put It directly on the dirt fuga where It was hard like cement the compact and the put It rock would not hurt .
Very good idea, how to build a house. Great work, thank you for inspiration.
Good job. Thank you from France.
Is it just sand and dirt in the bag? How long this will hold despite not having concrete? Please explain 😮
How are these bags being sealed and what brand of bag and where did you source the bag?
I wanna know too
So Bag Deteriation and it all pours out.. Great thinking
Need to use the right material for the bags. Also need plaster. I think Cal Earth Institute have a more mature method.
@@octane7047 Still a Very Cool Build
I heard bags need cement in the sand....is this true with soil?
how long the life span of the bag...this house still standing..??

Wow...that was really awesome....seems like good insulation as well...good job.
💯👏👏👍
What was that thing in the river at the first seconds of the video?
Final seconds of video show a water wheel so perhaps power to charge cameras etc
Uau a casa ainda existe? Seria seguro para uma família?
Do you put anything in between the layers?
2 strands of barbed wire.
But it didn't look like they did that. And at least 2 strands.
@@assog5737 they did. The rocks are holding the barbed wire in place
What are the bags made of?
Mostly polypropylene but in some parts of the world they use jute.

Love it! Live free or die trying
well done my friend 🥰🥰🥰
I'm wondering how long can this building last. Especially when those bags rot.
You can get plastic/PVC bags. Won't rot out.
Look at ancient building techniques. This is the same, just in a bag.
We still see structures standing from 3000 years ago made of the same material.
The soil already hardened by the time the bags is rotten.
Plus you use an outer layer of plaster, ends up better than modern houses with occasional reapplixation.
great, except was there any covering on the outside
What type of bags it that
Looks like a dirt bag
Ideia maravilhosa!♥️

how many bags was that?
Earth bags don't keep the temperature cold?
They are better than wood, it's a juggling act throughout day instead of evacuating internal temp constantly.
When they ask me how much I spent on my house I'm saying it was "dirt cheap" lol
That’s a terrible dad joke
E quanto tempo ela durou kkkkkkk

Sandbags last for 6 months typically in the sun.
Not even close. First you cover them with player and a roof. Second these are also compressed and mixed with soil. Look up CEBs.
If they are filled with dirt when they get wet they will turn to mud and then when they dry out and deteriorate it will become an adobe house
How many sand bags did you use?
50ish per layer, bout 20 layers maybe?
Ini bagus dan keren
Cool!! Very cool.
