Justin was different from all OSU QBs before him. He has real arm strength, is a great athlete and downfield accuracy was better than any one of them. He held on the ball and was slow to certain progressions. He got to Chicago and was supposed to be on the bench his first year because Nagy wanted him to have full grasp of the playbook and learn from Dalton. He was forced into action before they were ready and he was under pressure early, as the season went on he got better. He had the flashes ie Pittsburgh, Detroit, 49ers and Minnesota games. His second year, the new regime tore the building apart to the scraps, Justin struggled but once they self scouted, he had one of the greatest QB rushing seasons ever, but last year didn’t have the talent around him to win.

    • @VF5
      @VF5 28 дней назад +3

At some point he is who he is. If he can't find success long term in Pittsburgh, then he's just another bottom end/backup, just like every other QBs drafted high. I'm not sure I understand the obsession with the Fields stans. Maybe he's been playing the wrong position all of his football career?

Either play well or we move on. Stroud didn't have a better situation than Fields and he looks like a much better QB.

*Here are Russ’s 2023 numbers (in 15 games, not 17).*
    3,070 Yards
    26 TDs
    3 Rushing TDs (341 yards, 386 equiv.)
    8 INTs
    66.4% Complete
    78.8% Adjusted Complete Rate.
    98 Passer Rating
    *Russ’s 2023 Rankings:*
1st in Fourth Qtr comebacks (4)
    1st in Game-Winning Drives (4)
2nd in Adj. Completion Rate (78.8%)*
    2nd in TD% (5.9)
    4th in Completion Differentials
    5th in TD-INT Ratio (26:8)
    7th in Passer Rating (98.0)
    9th in TDs (26)
    9th in INT Rate (1.8)
10th in INTs among qualified QBs (8)
    11th in Completion% (66.4%)
According to Sports Info Solutions (SIS), Russ’s arm is as deadly as ever!
He completed six passes that flew 40+ air yards past the original line of scrimmage (for 301 yards), good for #1 in the league. Four of those six went for TDs, and the two that didn’t were attributed as drops by the targeted receivers.
Russ attempted 16 such passes, and 10 were deemed on target by SIS.
Of those 16 attempts, not a single one resulted in an interception.
Russ had one of the league’s top deep-ball passer ratings, had one of the highest season-long 4th quarter passer ratings, and led the league in red zone efficiency for half the season.
He also rushed for 341 yards in 15 games, which is the equivalent of 386 yards over 17 games, or 220%+ times the rush yards of the average NFL QB. That was with Sean Payton suppressing his numbers. Russ is still capable of rushing for 400-500 yards.
    That’s ELITE!
You cannot be washed and do these things.
He also had 4 of the top-5 least probable completions and led the Broncos to a #1 red zone performance rating for half the season.

Wilson ran for his life for the last 4 or 5 years. If this Steelers line can give him some time Wilson has better weapons than he had in Denver. And if the running game can be what it was as it got better as the year went on and Smith's play-action will be a big help. I don't see a super bowl, but I think Wilson will have a decent season. He has his whole life on the line. He had never been deemed an awful qb before Denver and now its asked if he is too old for the game. Go Steelers

Joy is always completely on point when it comes to the NFL. If Wilson simply doesn't lose games, the Steelers are going to be fine. He will make a few throws, each game, that will keep the offense moving, that defense will lock folks up, and Russ will only need to provide 21-24 pts a game and Pittsburgh is going to win 10+games, with a potential playoff win.

Tomlin is a genius. Mike is getting the noise out of the way early. Mitch was the vet and Kenny was the “new guy”. He played the vet first and it backfired with the fans yelling “Kenny”! I was one of them. Now he is letting everyone see that the “young guy” is not ready. Russ will be fine. He’s better than what we had. Stop comparing him to other QB’s. We Are The Pittsburgh Steelers. Pickens ran the wrong route for 3 years? This is where high IQ comes into play, if someone runs the wrong route you are allowed to adjust. Other QBs have seen guys wrong the wrong route, you know what they do? Adjust, either hit other receivers or scramble.

@@AilmanF2P no, but the play Pickens ran the wrong route he got sacked. Not one person said that….. but Dan Orlofsky broke the tape down to show each one Fields drop backs and explained how it’s a mixed bag…. Did you hear that on speak? No, 3 ppl ripped him. Not only that, but the Bears failed Fields the same way they failed Trubusky but no one says that at all.
